When the mantle is wood sometimes the mantle needs to raised to get them a certain distance from the fireplace opening per code. This means the TV has to go higher yet. We do offer non-combustible mantles too, and in that case we could hold the TV lower. Other times the customer just wants the TV higher because they want to see it from a distance and when they recline it works. Good comment!
Big enough for you to have enough space plus room for guests but not too big to the point where it's overwhelming. Just big enough to provide a little extra room and still maintain its coziness🪵

Although we have built homes in California, we have come to find that too many projects were interrupted by tedious red tape from both a local and state level. This has resulted in such long delays that we have found projects never broke ground - even though we did all of the engineering and materials selections. With that in mind, we have decided that it's not in our best interest to work on California projects when we have other families on our waiting list.

Some people actually like cutout details like this because it highlights the carpentry craftsmanship. Don't assume that everyone shares your preferences when it comes to aesthetics.

Oh, how come that just round the corner there is another switch which doesn't cut into the upright 'planking' ? Surely it would be the same if it were a deliberate part of the design? And there is also, what appears to be a plug outlet about a foot off the floor which is also more central. 😊
