Railfanning Newhall - 1/18/19

Continuing off of my railfanning series along Metrolink’s Antelope Valley Line, I made my way up to Newhall after railfanning at Sylmar / San Fernando prior. The Newhall Metrolink Station serves as the first station north along the Antelope Valley Line that is outside of the Los Angeles Metropolitan area, as well as the first of three stations within the City of Santa Clarita and Valley area. This station also serves as an Amtrak Thruway bus connection in addition to local transit transfers and connections. The station building itself also interestingly features an architecturally prominent clock tower and an ample amount of amenities for passengers for this type of station, particularly considering that it is solely only a Metrolink station. It is worth noting however that although Newhall is one of the few stations along the Antelope Valley Line with two platforms, the designated platform boardings are predominantly on Track 2, opposite of the station building; thus resulting in some confusion among passengers, even with signage showing the specified platform for boardings for each train. Regardless, whether it is the ample amenities and parking, or the train and horn action, Newhall is definitely a nice place to catch a train or to just relax and enjoy a pleasant day.
Train 1 : Metrolink #212 with CabCar #658 & F59PHI #884. Note the passengers racing cross the tracks to catch the train as it is approaching into the station.
Train 2 : Metrolink #207 with MP36PH-3C #894 & CabCar #678. This trainset will terminate at Via Princessa and later return to Los Angeles running as Metrolink #214.
Train 3 : Metrolink #214 with CabCar #678 & MP36PH-3C #894. Immediately after this train cleared, I booked it over to Santa Clarita to continue my railfanning series and catch Metrolink #209 arriving.

I have yet to see F125s being in service even after metrolink ordered lot of them.

butthurt8 There has been an increasing number of them in service as of recently, although they’re still not seen as often. Metrolink actually recently just received another delivery of their F125s, with the last batch scheduled to come in sometime in the next few months.
