Awesome video Brent. I love that station so much. So picturesque. Also, awesome catch with the UP freight train. I believe it comes everyday around 1:30 through there. Anyway keep up the awesome work. Can’t wait to see the rest of your railfanning videos of the antelope valley line!
Thank you Justin ! Yeah man, usually the ZLCLT is scheduled through Burbank Junction between 1:00pm and 3:00pm daily, so it made pretty good time coming up to Santa Clarita and was a nice surprise. Next vid should be up sometime this coming week. :)
Remixed Person v8114 Rarely, but occasionally yes. Due to the station’s proximity to undeveloped areas, rattlesnakes can come down into the general population areas.
Great video. I will always remember the time when I was going to Lancaster, but the train dropped it's passengers off at this station. We waited for an hour or maybe a bit more, until the train finally came. It's a good station.
Man, that MP36 sounds so graceful and elegant notching up! A sound so smooth, powerful, and magnificent. And it appears you guys have to be careful of rattle snakes out that way. Not something we have to worry about here in Chicago, so it seems like a different world in a sense! Very nice video by the way.
Thank you for uploading these videos in the I’m currently in Mexico for a family emergency and it’s nice to see these videos since I live close to there. Also fun fact: every Sunday and Saturday there is a swap meet next to the station you should really go see it
ServandoYt You’re very welcome ! I’m glad you enjoyed the video ! Although it is unfortunate, hopefully all is well with your family in the near future ! And yes, I actually saw them setting up for the swap meet the day I visited this station, although I unfortunately had to head home that Friday evening. I’ll definitely have to check it out next time when I’m back around there for sure !
TheNazar123 Yes, I’ve heard. I’m actually looking into railfanning there sometime this summer once construction is completed. The Van Nuys Station is currently a priority for sure.
It mainly just stems from the various car and locomotive orders Metrolink has done since its existence. Ever since the order of the Hyundai Rotem cars starting in 2010, the trainsets usually will never be completely uniform except for special occurrences where they are all Hyundai Rotem cars. Metrolink has attempted to try to match the paint scheme between the Hyundai Rotem, Bombardier cars, and all the locomotives, but it still remains a mix match of different paint schemes. So far, only one Bombardier car has been painted to match the Hyundai Rotem cars since 2010; that one only being SCAX #187. The locomotives are also the same case; however with the incorporation of the EMD F125s, it should match better with the Hyundai Rotem cars. There has also been a recent contract to rebuild the bombardier cars, so we hopefully might see a matching paint scheme coming in the next few years.
No problem ! I’m anticipating that with the Bombardier rebuilds, Metrolink will certainly repaint the cars. As for whether they’ll match the Hyundai Rotem cars, that is anyone’s guess knowing how Metrolink historically hasn’t matched different paint schemes all too well, haha.
Oliver Jonah Fusco Yes indeed, UP uses the Yuma Subdivision (Sunset Route) as their predominant rail route into the L.A. area, only second by the Cajon Pass. It is worth noting however that most northbound and southbound UP freights destined to and from NorCal and beyond are routed via the Cajon Pass, with a small amount routed over the SCRRA Valley Sub (Metrolink Antelope Valley Line).
Very nicely shot
Fan Railer Thanks !
Awesome Video

Why do the metrolink cars not match? I've always wondered why.

@@BrentNguyen46 Thanks, I really appreciate it. Also, do you think they will paint more of the bombardier cars to fit the new paint scheme?
No problem ! I’m anticipating that with the Bombardier rebuilds, Metrolink will certainly repaint the cars. As for whether they’ll match the Hyundai Rotem cars, that is anyone’s guess knowing how Metrolink historically hasn’t matched different paint schemes all too well, haha.
Great video! When was this filmed?
Central California Rail Productions Thanks ! It was filmed on 1/18/19 per the title of the video.
Sorry, I feel really dumb right now. I saw that same ZLCLT near Palmdale that day while chasing UP 4141
Central California Rail Productions Nah man, it’s all good ! No worries ! Did you happen to film the ZLCLT ?
BrentNguyen46 Unfortunately, no. I only drove past it. I wish I would’ve though. Seems like it had a nice crew
Why one freight train?
Oliver Jonah Fusco Not too much through freight activity on this line. Most UP freights are routed over Cajon Pass.
Well, the more active Union Pacific line is the sunset line that goes through Palm springs.

Liked subbed hope you do as well
James Burnside Thanks ! I did as well. :)
