Fabulous performance! One of the best I've heard of this piece! So dynamic!!! I sat at my kitchen table and applauded after the wonderful performance!
This performance is fabulous, and the dislikes are due to people who, in addition to understanding little about music, cling to a fossil tradition, the enemy of even the slightest change.
Really a great performance
I remember a piece of Soler was added in between African dance music and we went on dancing on Soler's music played by a harpsichord.

Antonio Soler fue alumno de Domenico Scarlatti quién vivió en España y escribió el primer Fandango para clavicémbalo. Era lógico que el alumno escribiera su obra maestra para el mismo instrumento. Antonio Soler fue el compositor español más importante de la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII. Protagoniza junto a Luigi Boccherini el origen del nacionalismo musical español. ¡Hermosa obra magistral!

At first I could not figure out why that guy was standing there. Is he coaching her? Is he going to sing? I have the sheet music and there is NO vocal part. WTF? Then he started paying the castanets! Yeaaah! Perfect addition. Raised in the southwest near the Mexico border. I love castanets!!! Great combo. Great performances from both artists. Thanks for sharing! Delightful with the castanets!!

Superb. It's the very first time I heard castagnets on Soler, and it definitely adds rhythm and strength to this formidable fandango.

Those left-hand eighth-note jumps after 3:15 and 3:30 are amazing. The piece seems to have been written for three hands, but Monika handles it with just two.
@@marianneoelund2940 If I recall correctly, this piece is one of a set composed for two keyboards. When I saw the very beginning of the video I thought, "What? Only one harpsichord?"

Yes, castanets are a serious percussion instrument, I learned from this video. As are the piano and the clavichord. I admire the performer's accuracy and precision in accompanying this piece.

I guess pianos don’t figure in your world either but you didn’t mention the category of stringed instruments they belong in either. @@comtaar2245 The harpsichord works with a trigger system that plucks the strings. That's why it can't really produce dynamics. If you're calling a harpsichord precussion, you need to call a guitar percussion. Music student from Portugal btw.

Busca al pionero peruano Rafael Puyana al clave, en los años 70, cuando casi nadie sabía ni lo que era el instrumento. Su interpretación es probablemente la mejor de todas. Para tocar el fandango en su aire hay que ser hijo de las Españas, no importa de qué lado del mar.

C'est bien difficile faire l'accordance de les castagnettes avec l'harpsichord, mais ils l'ont fait précisément. La piece est difficile, mais Mlle. Foryś l'a bien fait, avec changements de tempo et de longueres des notes expressifs; Mr. Celis Sanchez suivait attentivement. C'etait étonnante!

..lo estaba escuchando ,...de una cierta distancia ; clavesin, castanuelas ,,,,Y- de frente de gran ventanal ,...hacia paisaje...
..paisaje de ; , bosquesillos, de los pajaros , insectos ., peq,arroyos ...Y este fandango ,..como si .... murmullo de todo ese paisaje .de..colinas verdes , Y !, de ponerse mas cerca ,......se escuchaba a , un arroyo y.... sus pequenas cascadas, marcando " el compa'' " ....del agua fluyendo....

Che esecuzione incredibile! Il clavicembalo e le nacchere, che qui sembrano addirittura un basso ostinato, donano a questo pezzo un carattere decisamente percussivo. Sono un suonatore dilettante di nacchere, ma mi permetto di dire che il grande percussionista forse avrebbe potuto fare delle interruzioni, ogni tanto, prendendosi per contro qualche libertà maggiore. Resta il fatto che questa esecuzione è una vera prova di forza, ottimamente riuscita.
Incroyable, entêtant, hypnotique. On guette l'erreur de toucher, il n'y en aura pas. Merci pour ce morceau de bravoure.

Fantastic performance of one of my favourite pieces by a composer who is up there with Scarlatti. The only flaw in this video is the sound mix. The harpsichord is not far "forward" enough in the mix to get the right balance with the castanets.
