It is truly wonderful that in this day and age we can just sit in our living rooms and listen to a performance of this calibre on demand. Ridiculous and wonderful.
Ooh, she's even using a period-appropriate bow on that violin! That's why you hear all those beautiful swells in the violin's notes. The friction from a Baroque bow is uneven, producing a loudest sound in the middle. Modern bows are more even, but you lose that swell, and it adds such expression to the music of the era.
No matter who's variations are played, I NEVER get tired of this music.
6 years, 1,2 million views and 700 comments down the road from the recording experience, this piece still melts my heart. Feeling grateful to this wonderful ensemble and a wonderful film crew.

There is something haunting about the combination of Viola da Gamba & Harpsichord it's like passionate and elegant.
For anyone who likes to listen to the many folia compositions, interpretations and variations, this performance is simply out of this world. Who would have thought that it would be possible to surprise and astonish with a new and extraordinary interpretation for a piece that has been played 1000 times and by the best artists.

The viol and harpsichord are two of the most beautiful instruments ever created.
This is one of the finest performances of the La Folia I have ever heard. I listened to several dozens of renditions but this is the top.
Who said the classics were boring? This kind of music needs to be played in our schools! Bravo!
