I was lucky and stumbled on Mando Diao when “Bring ‘‘em In” came out. I heard “Sheepdog” at Tower Records in Santa Monica and I immediately grabbed the album. But, my god “Give Me Fire” is hands down a stone cold classic album. Every song is great, but there are some moments that are so frenetic and soulful that it transcends genre and is just spectacular. This is one of those songs.

So funny story, this is my lockdown song. I sleep with music on, it’s calming, relaxing, and all that. Basically I woke up and I was still half asleep, and the start had begun and I found it so bizarre and catchy. The next day I completely forgot about the song until a few hours later it came on again in the car on the radio. Now it’s one thing to hear an old unfamiliar song twice, but it’s more weird to realise I’m Australian and they played a Swedish band on our radio. So I got home and I didn’t know the words so I couldn’t exactly look it up. About a week goes by, I once again forget about it yadda yadda, and in my Spotify discover weekly, there it was. This song right from the start had followed me, and ever since then it’s been on my playlist on repeat for ages now. Very rare I connect with a song like that

These guys meet when they were kids in a small town in Sweden. Their biggest dream then was to be like the Beatles and they would skip school only to discuss music. The first summer togehter they spent at a cottage making music. Today the two of them dont speak anymore after the break up of their band Mando diao.
