One of the most difficult pieces in the entire flute rep, and he didn't even break a sweat. Amazing. Saw him perform at the BFS a few years back. After he finished his recital, Trevor informed the audience (in a good-natured manner) that there were "rubbish bins" (British for "trash cans") in the lobby where we could toss our flutes on the way out! HA! Bravo, Denis, and hat's off to you! A new bar has been set, it would seem.
YESSSS!! Such wonderful technique and musicianship. His full sonorous beautiful tone is how I love to hear the flute sound. His incredible and powerful low register. Such consistentcy of timbre in all registers. ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!
And no one mentions the pianist ??? The piano part is a monster and she is just as amazing as a flute player. Why is it always pianists are left as a secondary part of the whole performance I fail to get it.
I'm a professional flute player. In my opinion he is number one flute player in the World! The best technique and sound. Такого исполнения я не слышал. Я посто не понимаю как можно так играть!
That's honestly the best comparison of the three that I've heard. I'd also have to add in: Denis technique > Galway and Pahud technique It's just more impressive and nearly flawless every time.
No, when you reach professional level, you have to stop comparing " technique " as most professionals have adapted their technique to best suit them. Now you must compare their musicality, diversity, knowledge etc
Ashley Mazanhi this is true, when you become professional you need to stop taking in techniques of other professionals and start making your own techniques that will help YOU play to your best ability
An exquisite performance from a true master. So very lovely. What a gift to our world. You play so naturally and beautifully, like a bird singing for its lover. It is so very understandable why you are the principal flautist for the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra in New York City. You are simply brilliant, insightful.
I've been playing for 35 years and have listened to countless flutists ----- I find that it is Denis who stands head and shoulders above everyone. Step aside, Galway --- you've been replaced.
Superb! The sound vibrates and dances throughout the registers with such vitality. But that vast bottom register has to be the most beautiful; raw, supple. and fearless in equal measure. Bravo...
Marcus Boyd's comment is, perhaps, a little disrespectful, but we are all entitled to our opinions. The fact of the matter is that opinions are like a-holes - We all have one, and most of them stink. ;) But, I have to say that I really enjoyed Denis' performance. He's set a new standard for every flautist. Bravo, Denis.
when i listen to this after listening to the "that's why emmanuel pahud is the best flute player in the world", i really wonder why denis is not the best, too. all the best to denis!
Fabulous playing! Denis - cant wait to meet you in Canberra at the Australian Flute Festival 2011... we are all looking forward to spending time with you.:) Bravo
So I play the flute and I don't know how the heck he just did that!!! Ummm... so ..... to end my presentation that is why I play the flute......... 😳 Teach me your ways
His technical facility is definitely very impressive. I do feel however fast fingers lend itself to flute playing fairly easily, you find a lot of flute players who can play impossible passages really quickly. ...but that doesn't make you a good musician. True artistry is about finding that finesse in a fiery musical line. That allows the audience to breathe during your breathtaking display of technical mastery, instead of them holding their breath hoping you don't start seizing on the floor.
Your reply is respected --- except be careful of your grammar: it's not "instead of THEM holding their breath" ---- it's "instead of THEIR holding their breath".

Arguably one of the world's hardest flute pieces and Denis smashes the piece easily!
And no one mentions the pianist ??? The piano part is a monster and she is just as amazing as a flute player. Why is it always pianists are left as a secondary part of the whole performance I fail to get it.
Maybe because it’s a flute piece first and foremost but I agree the pianist is amazing
Yes, but the pianist is extraordinary.
Get it neither.
In general. But about Jolivets Chant des Linos, the flute voice is the even more challenging, and hardly to manage für any flutist on earth.
Yes, and in Das musikalische Opfer of Jordi Savall, especially, the pianist should be more mentioned too.

The flute has NO secrets for this young super virtuoso!

Ethan Dosh exactly my point and beautifully worded
omg I love how "dark" his sound is

Look at this mans fingers. 😮
Oh yea. Where does he live in which country?
replaced? hmmm i'm not sure. both are extraordinary.

Galway tone > Denis tone. Pahud = most musical phrasing/character of piece.
I, too thought that Pahud was Galway's successor. But now I think it's Denis.

My teacher can't play this music sheet
Brove
It is the most difficult composition for flute.
Hard to believe, how Denis Boriacous plays. "Perfect" is to poor.
Dislike Buriakov? Bad move bro

a lot of ppl play this piece the way Denis did? Hahahahhaha what are u saying man
This guy doesn't play the flute lmaooo fast fingers makes it easy ? You're kidding
This is definitely an interpretation that is line with Jolivet’s musical style and attitude. You trippin bitch
an altus
Man I love Bouriakov but does he play some stuff way too fast, only he can do it…
Your reply is respected --- except be careful of your grammar: it's not "instead of THEM holding their breath" ---- it's "instead of THEIR holding their breath".
I know this comment was 9 years ago and I dont know who your responding to but no. "Instead of THEM holding their breath" is correct.

@@nandocordeiro5853 I've been played at my own game smh.
It is possible to play something too fast (even on the flute)!
