Shit.. I wish I wish I had enough skill to play Fur Elise let alone this. I love the piano so much. You can pour your heart out when writing a piece and these composers spill their guts and feelings into creating such masterful and awe inspiring pieces. The ups and downs, the high and lows, the happy and sad. Who needs words to express your feelings when you have this (if you have the skill to compose and play, which I dont) just the feelings of a piano lover who has no idea how to play a piano lol
@@jponz85 I've purchased an 88 key piano and have tried to learn. All I'm missing is a teacher! I didn't give up and slowly but surely I will learn to play!
Yes. I would not say it is wrong to compare him with Horowitz (who I have mixed feelings about anyway) but I do feel there is something else at work with Trifinov that perhaps even Horowitz might have wished for; a greater sense of immediacy. It is as if the Mephisto is playing him, so much so that he has to almost rein it in and tame it. Quite incredible. Thank you for the thought William. Blessings!
Trifinov is the music, with the added grace of wonderful technique. All performers are channeling the music as long as they don’t allow their ego to get in the way.
A great performance.Trifonov gives meaning to every note with countless expressive insights.Like a breath of fresh air away from the super technicians that like to display virtuosity for the sake of virtuosity.
Daniil shows some unique interpretive talent here, providing new insights to an old war horse. What detracts from his performance is the many wrong notes (often a kiss of death in international competitions), including the very last note of the piece where he grabs a bit of B along with the A's. As he matures as a performer, he'll not allow nerves or unbridled emotion to interfere with accuracy -- and he'll be unbeatable.
Some original dynamic solutions : bar n. 195 - 1:35, while everybody keep the ff throught the descending f minor arpeggio, he switches to a pp and a crescendo... Not bad!
Some pianists use their impeccable techniques to sanitize everything to death but he uses his otherworldly control to make even wilder gestures and contacts. He's so great and refreshing
I'm not sure whether I'm supposed to find it cute or whether I'm supposed to feel ashamed for you: "He struggles through the first section", followed by this generous "but"-you-have-to-give-him-that part... - aaaaahh, so great to have experts of your calibre around... :D
Is there a pianist alive who has ever been able to play in concert passage 8:16 - 8:37 cleanly and without mistakes? Those jumps are about the most "devilish" thing Liszt ever wrote. Even Berezovsky flubs many notes here and he's about as mistake-free as they come.
J Joe Townley Look up Noboyuki Tsujii's recording of it here on TH-cam - Granted it is a studio recording so it's been practiced and refined, but I've heard him play it in person as well and as far as I can recall it was played near flawlessly (though I may have been caught up in the moment).
***** He's a phenomenon, no doubt about it. Just to hear his La Campanella in live concert (here on TH-cam) with those fiendish leaps in the RH you know he's a once in a music history event. History doesn't record any blind pianist who could do this, although Liszt was said to have pulled this stunt of blindfolding himself and playing his most difficult works.
J Joe Townley It's a curious thing about those leaps in the rh. You often mess up the lh as well (which isn't nearly so hard), because you're so busy thinking about not splashing the rh! I've NEVER got through the passage you mention without some mistake; and that creates its own adverse psychology.
watkinder Don't I know exactly what you're saying! I used to play this right before I injured my RH forefinger, and I remember those leaps traumatizing me so badly I was so relieved when I got to those cascading arpeggios in the RH, which I could handle effectively. I'd never attempt this in public then and I've never heard the best of them get through this passage w/o a blooper or two, most notably Khatia Buniatishvili who absolutely wrecks it trying to play it faster than anyone else. She a magnificent pianist but she should be ashamed of that performance and yank it, unless she doesn't own rights.
How is posible there are 216 persons doesn't like this interpretation Mephisto of this Spectacular pianist!they not only are being cruel because he does a huge effort and he is spectacular and extraordinary! they are envidious,do they believe they can distroy this talent, work and discipline only with their stupid comments???maybe the thing i will write now will seem exagerated but i believe they deserve a great punishment of God for put all those bad comments.
Destiny pianogirl : why 216 persons doesn't like this interpretation ? good question . Why Daniel Trifonov who plays Listz-mephisto has 2,6 K Like and France Clidat has only 49 ! ( since 2011 ) . In 1980' F Clidat had " le grand prix du disque Listz-Budapest " with critics for her . Try to understand and answer me if you want , Clidat plays also Mephisto on TH-cam
I said Trif. is one of the most talented young pianists in the world. He is not up there with the famous world class pianists yet, and saying a pianist was the second Liszt or Chopin is an insane idea anyway, but Trifonov is on a very good way to become a very mature musician and clearly has immense potential :-)
I love how this sweaty gremlin boy absolutely tears Mephisto out of this piece! Someone get this man a kerchief to wipe that brow and toss to the ladies! 😂 But seriously, this is my second favorite performance of Mephisto Waltz No 1 only to that of Van Cliburn's own performance. P.S. Have you seen the facial hair he's rockin now? He's not only killing it on the keys, he's stealing hearts as well! I hope his wife doesn't mind the extra attention he's undoubtably getting! 😂❤️
Its the Cziffra octave, he did that alot in Liszt and others. He was alos a great improviser making that sort additions almost on instinkt. He has one in the Gnomenreign at the part after the fast(in his cause insane) repeating notes in the left hand.
a pianist with no humpback, right posture, no greasy hair and no facial expressions is no pianist to me. this man acquired his skills during the ghastly hours of the night. a virtuous.

Cried watching this. I so wish I could do this, it’s just brilliant.
It’s never too late to start learning! I am on my way to play this one day…
@@samuga5706lol
@@samuga5706i am studying rd lucrezia borgia. In my estimation i'll be ready to it live in 10.000 years.
Brillante interpretación, bravo!!!!
One of the most fantastical young artist today! One takes flight listening to his playing...♥...
Bravo! Again I say Bravo! I'm speechless!👏👏👏👏👏
He interprets this piece perfectly!
No sorry a few failed notes !
@@carraze Yes, like I said, He "interprets" this piece perfectly!
You commented this 8 years ago and responded to a reply the same day it happened lmao
agree very sloppy ending
Pianista fantástico. Foi possuído pelo espírito de Liszt. Parabéns.
Очень много грязи в исполнении!
Jean Vazquez get a teacher. You won’t regret it. Even the simplest pieces will bring you great satisfaction, you don’t need to be Horowitz.
Do not give up!!!
If you love something so much why not go for it? You'll only regret not trying sooner or later.
@@jponz85 I've purchased an 88 key piano and have tried to learn. All I'm missing is a teacher! I didn't give up and slowly but surely I will learn to play!
와... 신들린것처럼 치네.... 너무 멋있어요!!! Amazing!!!
Omg! He plays it just how its written! He actually used the pedal in the very beginning!
Blessings!
Yes, indeed . But Trifonov's version is more flawless
Trifinov is the music, with the added grace of wonderful technique. All performers are channeling the music as long as they don’t allow their ego to get in the way.
Sublime interprétation!
Quel genie! Tout ce qu’il interprete est transcendant! Bravo
I am so thankful for youtube. goddamn, that was so good.
8:15 When the exam is tomorrow and you have to start studying
I can't get enough of watching it, wonderful interpretation

Wow amazing
7:35 that's some godlike stuff right there
Incredible!Love you!♥️♥️♥️🙏🙏🙏🎹🎹🎹
Daniil got into PERFECT character here, for this work. I like!
A great performance.Trifonov gives meaning to every note with countless expressive insights.Like a breath of fresh air away from the super technicians that like to display virtuosity for the sake of virtuosity.
Magnifique..so many pianists try to expload the ball with it ,Daniil makes music,I prefer this to even Horowitz himself ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
OMG. is this a talent or a curse? this is so amazing. his passion is great
Some original dynamic solutions : bar n. 195 - 1:35, while everybody keep the ff throught the descending f minor arpeggio, he switches to a pp and a crescendo... Not bad!
Sorcerer? Conjurer? Stark raving lunatic? Check, check, check.
Impeccable attention to the dynamics of the piece. 🤘🤘
Some pianists use their impeccable techniques to sanitize everything to death but he uses his otherworldly control to make even wilder gestures and contacts. He's so great and refreshing
Stunning
I'm not sure whether I'm supposed to find it cute or whether I'm supposed to feel ashamed for you: "He struggles through the first section", followed by this generous "but"-you-have-to-give-him-that part... - aaaaahh, so great to have experts of your calibre around... :D
Danill's demon came to play for us. Magnificent !!
@MrAddisondewitt I was there too! He is incredible. His interpretation of the concerto was brilliant. And to think that he is only 20 years old...
Beautiful.
Is there a pianist alive who has ever been able to play in concert passage 8:16 - 8:37 cleanly and without mistakes? Those jumps are about the most "devilish" thing Liszt ever wrote. Even Berezovsky flubs many notes here and he's about as mistake-free as they come.
J Joe Townley
Look up Noboyuki Tsujii's recording of it here on TH-cam - Granted it is a studio recording so it's been practiced and refined, but I've heard him play it in person as well and as far as I can recall it was played near flawlessly (though I may have been caught up in the moment).
J Joe Townley well lubyantsev played without mistakes
Good God what a performance!
Extraordinaria interpretación, que no cae en excesos dulzones.
8:15 love this dude's reactions, also amazing sound
Who cares? This is a brilliant performance, so alive and full of passion! Why can't you all just enjoy the music?
Obrigada por essa viagem alucinante no mundo do fantástico, onde nada mais importa, somente ouvir essa peça extraordinária.
Daniil Trifonov,i am your fan number 1,you and Martha Argerich are my favorite pianists, congrats again👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It "warms" the Heart that Liszt still drives mere pianists...with big enough hands...to insanity.
Icredible!. Extraordinari!, sounds better than a record!. You flow whit the music man..go on!
I said Trif. is one of the most talented young pianists in the world. He is not up there with the famous world class pianists yet, and saying a pianist was the second Liszt or Chopin is an insane idea anyway, but Trifonov is on a very good way to become a very mature musician and clearly has immense potential :-)
Fabulous!
7:54 chaotic sadness
8:17 chaotic happiness
he is one of the few piano poets today
8:34 i was wondering why this version sounds so "grande" comparing to others. then i found out that he added one octave lower note.
Thanx for the tip
Its the Cziffra octave, he did that alot in Liszt and others. He was alos a great improviser making that sort additions almost on instinkt. He has one in the Gnomenreign at the part after the fast(in his cause insane) repeating notes in the left hand.
Horowitz has the most powerful interpretation, and I like Trifonov.
@@peterrowan9955 alexei sultanov is pretty great too, similar arrangement to horowitz as well (on his live performance at least)
a pianist with no humpback, right posture, no greasy hair and no facial expressions is no pianist to me. this man acquired his skills during the ghastly hours of the night. a virtuous.
Haha agreed!
Maravilhoso , sensacional , toca com a Alma !!!!
