Hamza i recently changed my bootlid from standard to gti and my boot wouldnt open and wiper wouldnt work so i changed the wiper motor. This fixed the problem for me.

Test Using a multimeter , positive or trigger + is probably shorting out to ground or the harness was upgraded later and the pins have changed for the Gti model so the negative and positive may have been switched around or there is a short circuit in the harness leading to the boot switch
That unit you demo'd is well impressive, that sort of stuff is usually only possibly with a lap top so its sweet that it hooks up with your phone!!! Your GTI is looking very tasty mate!!!

If you're planning on running a K04 then I'd highly recommend a 'K04 READY' Revo intake. Most people on their ED30s run a Revo as they are the least restrictive. RS3 injectors and a bigger intercooler is definitely required aswell as a HPFP upgrade. Most go with APR
Hi, check the wiring where the hinge is , very common wire shorts or break because opening and closing the hatch door, the wire is inside the rubber sleeve,
I had a mk5 and did some changes in the tailgate, my advice would be to check the grounds... i had issues with lights etc in the tail gate, also take a look at pin positions on the plug, it has happened before that from oem the pins have been installed in reverse...
Looks like u got a straight pipe exhaust with no cats possibly miltek 😂🤷♂️best to do the k04 conversion with access to a ramp doing it on the floor Is a pain in the backside 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️loving the content👍
Great video once again! What would be good is to have like a rolling race against a standard mk7 R etc now and then rematch it after the k04 and stage 2 tuning etc, that would really show the difference compared to just numbers.
Well for wires to start smoking there has to be excessive resistance in the circuit, so there is a short circuit somewhere so most likely detoriated wires
Clean it out with some air in a can and slap some dialectic grease in the thing that’s smoking, had same problem with my boot electricals... sorted it, will be due to moisture so grease will help keep it out.. but dialectic

Looks like the boot latch is permanently trying to stay open, hence the smoke as there's power constantly being put through it? I'm no expert though. Great video as always 👍🏼
I’d say that boot latch is toast, also check all the earths are good and there no damaged wires where the loom comes into the tailgate that are shorting Do all the inner lamps work properly?
Go wasteland conversion. My Mk5 GTI also has issues with the rear wiring. Reverse, rear fog and boot actuator stop working for no reason. But only sometimes, most of the time works fine. Flakey cars these things. Keep up the vids enjoying them heaps.
Why didnt you get a Unitronic DV relocate kit or similar kit. It comes with everything needed and you will be ready to go when you upgrade to K04. Plus you want to upgrade your charge pipe too for better efficiency when you have your K04, like a Spulen Charge Pipe. You could have killed two birds with one stone instead of replacing the charge pipe with an OEM part from the Golf R. I had a MK5 GTI with K04 upgrade with everything possible to upgrade except Water Meth.
Well tbh most cars I like are automatics plus I did drive a few manuals in some driving lessons but decided to switch to automatic before I took my test after failing in my manual one, i do like automatics though!
R-line H H yes auto are the way foward its just that it can be restrictive having an auto licence only. tbf who wouldent want a car that can shift for you twice as fast lol

Does the new latch need coding to the car perhaps? Think the ko4 work on the wasteland might be pushing it unless you have at least one non camera shy mate to assist. Maybe for such a big job a tie in with a company doing it would be better......rounded nuts, snapped studs and stripped threads are your worse nightmare when DIYing at home. That Carly obd reader threw up a central locking code so could that be behind the non working boot release or was that after it started to smoke? Is there a separate relay? Ideally want a base bhp readout before going ko4 to see the improvement difference........ Love the project updates.......
I bought a mk5 gti with 190,000+ thousand miles and the mpg is terrible. The most I can get is like 17mpg (I live in the city as well). Is that normal?
If you think you are capable of doing the mod yourself then definitely DIY. If you don’t think you’d manage send it in or get someone you know to help you 😁
Can’t believe what a difference having the correct boot on has made 😮. Agree about not making vids for nothing... unlike a certain EP3 owning TH-camr who butchers every car he gets with stickers and piss easy chav mods (wiper deletes).
You need to hook up with a small car mechanic youtube channel and do the work with them. That way you learn the how to and you both gain from cross promotion of your channels. Defo do it in your wasteland space. And keep the vids coming man :)

My wiring loom fractured within the black flexible rubber section between the boot and the main body of the car. It’s due toVW cost cutting and not making this section long enough too handle all the opening/closing.
Just fixed mine last week as wiper stopped working and found the wire snapped inside the conduit, the rest of the wires seemed fine just the wiper one it was way too short once boot open.
Get car up as hi as you can because it’s nightmare on your back under the car doing it ... I put a forge pressure valve On. it was only 3 bolts to change it over And my temper was getting the better of me lol 😂 🤬

definitely a must imo are the Passat style Skyline tail lights. Makes the back side look completely overhauled
Once all the performance bits are done we will move onto Visual and do the car up nice. I’m thinking of OEM Xenon headlights and Valeo rears

Check the rubber boot leading to the boot from the body for broken and touching wires, that was the problem on mine.

I would run a diagnostic under the central convenience section to see if module throws back any errors but seems as a short fuse.
Tint the rear lights ? Try putting tights over them. It works
rear wiper delete has to be done imo. looks so much more smooth

u have an electric problem so u may check the fuse box and check the lock of the trunk ....some times needs to be cleaned with wd 40 spray

If u buy a o2 sensor spacer it will take the engine light if I done it on my tfsi Leon
That could be one of your fuses from ur fuse box or even change the alternator.
