Sure, I found the double agent thing very cheesy. Otherwise, he is a ok character. I guess. I feel he didn't give much of a lasting impression, he was just quite frankly there to boost Endeavour. He wasn't there at Kamino, he just sort of arrived for one arc and then we don't see him for who knows how long.

I love the contrast between endeavor’s and all might’s meaning of heroism, endeavor wants his back to be wide enough to protect everyone, all might wants to save people with a smile, all might is a protector whilst endeavor is a shield, kind of a cool difference, at the end of the day they’ve got the same basic idea of heroism, to protect people

Dragon Ball is sacred and cannot be touched, unfortunately. Nostalgia, friendless backgrounds, it being one of the first anime's people watched, all of that and more adds up to people being willing to defend the series to the death while being blind to it's problems.
I mean, anyone who says Dragon Ball Z didn't have massive pacing issues is just not looking at it objectively, but if you say that to anyone you're just dead wrong and shouldn't talk about it.

There is also the fact that a lot of people see Bakugou as an awesome and complex character for being a horrible and arrogant jerk who still wanted to be a hero and slowly gets his pride broken and realizes how he was wrong, yet Endeavor going through something similar is unforgivable and warrants sending Horikoshi death threats.

I like Endeavour in the same way I like Bakugou. They are flawed, but they are marvelous characters especially for their flaws.

Enji is better character than Bakugou, in many ways, but one of the main reasons is that Enji really apologize with his family, unlike Bakugou who didn’t apologize with Midoriya even he makes all his childhood a hell a destroying his self-estime during years just because he only try to help him

That most recent manga arc made me fully understand Endeavor. And more importantly care about him. I can't wait for the anime only fans see that arc get animated.

Endeavor has always been interesting to me and I would liken him to the ancient Greek heroes. They were judged on might, bloodlines, and feats. They were not nice people, extremely petty, and selfish, but they had drives to achieve and rivals to outdo.
Definitely like a greek hero. Their tragic flaw is always leading to them killing their family. It's always the freaking hubris that does that, and if their family isn't killed, they're messed up for life and become banshees or something. Their ambitions brought them great tribulations and they did a lot to improve how they appeared in the eyes of gods and men.
Oh my gosh, that is so true. Endeavor's like Kratos from God of War. A bad person, but an amazing hero with incredible skills & feats who deserves respect one way or the other. It puts nuance on what it means to be a hero, bc you don't know how to deal with his constantly conflicting character. Maybe that's what attracted me to him.
Another aspect in which he resembles Kratos is that despite being heartless, the only people you'll ever see them care about are their family. They're the only link to their conscience, as Endeavor said that he wants to be better so his family can look up to him, rather than society. It's... kind of inspiring in a way to me. What you described was the first reason why I liked him.
Endeavor is also one of my favourite characters because he sets a nice tone for the other characters and perfectly shows how even the two best heroes differ greatly in ideals

The Endeavor arc was great, as a matter of fact and unlike many reactions saw it, Horikoshi handled an abusive parent's redemption much better than a lot of anime with the same type of character. Even if he evaded punishment thanks to his status (kind of necessary for a story) his abuse wasn't excused, he put on a huge sprain on his family and saving the day (or dying saving the day) doesn't absolve him of that. A pity most people will only mention the death threats (or make them wich is a whole another level of problematic)
The fact that people harp on Endeavor being an abusive parent, and completely ignore the undeniable fact that Shoto's mother was the abusive parent who permanently disfigured him, kinda drains their arguments of validity, in my view. At least Endeavor did it because of some twisted sense of doing right by his child. Shoto's mother did it specifically to hurt Endeavor. Frankly, she's by far the bigger monster.
I completely disagree, his mother abused Todoroki out of anger and fear by reaction to the abuse she was a victim of wich essentially broke her. Endeavor's entire motivation for the abuse of his whole family was his pride who didn't allow second place.
She permanently disfigured her own child just to spite her lover. The absolute pettiest reason I've ever heard of for abuse, in all of fiction and reality.
@@dontmisunderstand6041 I've seen much pettier in anime but to me it's pretty clear she lost her touch with reality and thought she had to burn the Endeavor out of Shoto because like Endy himself she could only see her son as Endeavor. Not to mention she actually paid some consequences for her act.
Shoto's mother didn't even realize she was looking at Shoto when she attacked. She thought she was looking at Endeavor, her abuser. She was experiencing a moment of temporary insanity. She snapped and its because she knew she was going to snap that she was calling her mother to try and get the hell out of that house in the first place. It was Endeavor who brought her to the point of a complete mental breakdown in the first place, so yeah this is still COMPLETELY his fault. Even as a kid Shoto understood this.
Though I don't forgive Endeavor, just like his family, I did become a fan of his after reading his arc.

my only complaint about this vid that it left so much from endeavor character arc.
like you didn't talk about his relationship with his family....how his family members see and react to his new change in differents way each.....his way of trying to fix things and how he won't ask for forgivness from his wife ...big part of his reason to become a better hero is to be a hero that todoroki his son can be proud of...not just to fill all might place.....there was also the parallel between him and high end and how it was symbolic for him to burn him to the ground etc...

“Toxicity of ambition”
Zabuza in three words
Endeavor still has a long way to go towards actually redeeming himself in regards to his family (He literally drove his wife to clinical insanity, ignored his children to the point they don't know anything about him, and emotionally scarred and traumatized his one son he paid attention to). But, honestly, he can redeem himself and I think he deserves that chance.
I mean, this isn't real life. In real life, someone who abuses their family isn't doing it "For the sake of being the greatest hero ever". They're doing it because they're useless wastes of space that can only vent their frustrations through abuse. Comparing Endeavor with real life Family Abusers isn't accurate, because unlike 99%+ of real life abusers he actually has a good heart and good intentions that was simply sealed away due to an unachievably enormous ambition.
This is a story, it's giving you a philosophical question to answer. In that sense, whatever answer you give "Can not be wrong", but you should at least try to truly understand the meaning of the question before writing it off as if it's a no-brainer.
MrServantRider A lot of abusers had a cause. Either they themselves were raised by abusers, and some were like Endeavor and were slowly broken by their dreams and ambitions getting crushed by harsh reality.
Actually, Endevour's motivations for abuse are well documented in real life and is relatively common; there are some parents out there who, disappointed in their own perceived lack of success, attempt to force their child to be their stand in, and some parents do break their children attempting this. There is nothing good about it, its selfish, self centred, egotistical, and shows a complete lack of care or consideration for their children as living people. People who commit this form of abuse essentially treat their child as a doll, to be groomed and shaped as the parent wishes, with little to no thought or care for the child's needs.
Shoto had no choice in becoming a hero, Endevour forced that upon him from day one, ergo Endevours training was never an act of kindness or consideration, but of his own ego. The fact that Shoto continued on the path to being a hero is purely because he knows nothing else.
@@shadowjewel Shoto was gonna be a hero anyway. His quirk is too powerful so. And Enji was obsessed with achieving the number 1 spot which led him to do what he did. And obsession is something REALLY bad that can lead from one thing to another. Basically that's why he forced Shoto. He wanted him to be something he could never achieve. He has never been confirmed to physically abuse his children but that's good. Even if he did an average family beats up children when they don't behave when they are small. This guy is not a monster. I know loads of people who suffered worse from their parents and they still tried to be good people, it scars you yea, but he never did anything as bad as when Rei put boiled water on Shoto. All he did was mental which is not a big deal in today's society anyway, I guess you don't know how Asian parents are. But that's a thing in the past, he's trying to become a better person and he even bought his family a separate home and has been more emotional with Shoto and a better parent. What pisses me off more though is how people hate this guy but pretty villains who actually kill get a pass.
@@mihajlomilisavljevic3438 I hate Endeavour for the same reason people hate Umbrage (from Harry Potter) more then Voldamort; his crimes resonate in a personal emotional way. They are also both hypocritical, claiming to be good, or for the greater good, but wilfully doing harm, which is despicable. Bigger villains just don't hit in the same immediate way. Lastly, domestic crimes, and the crimes committed by teachers, involve a betrayal of trust that you just don't get with crimes that involve strangers, or people in other standings (save those in medicine), which makes the crime worse.
I agree that Endeavours obsession is what's driving him, I just wont sympathise with him for it. Not for that alone, anyway. And even if they did show that was behind the obsession, something I could sympathise with, that doesn't mean I'd forgive him for his domestic abuse; there are lines in the sand, and for me he crossed that line. I can analyse the drive behind any crime you can think of, and sympathise with the pain there, but that doesn't mean I'll necessarily forgive the crime unless due penance is payed and Endeavour has a hell of a long ass way to go before I consider his done.
No one knows weather Shoto would have been a hero, because he never got a choice. His quirk gave him the opportunity, but just because he can, doesn't mean he would've. For all we know, he may have chosen a peaceful life. He was indoctrinated, that's all we know.
I have never read the manga so I am only going on the show, but the subtext, the severity of his training (pushing him, perhaps beating him till he throws up and beyond), screams abuse. More then that, the hell he put his wife through, bad enough to break her, also screams abuse (if the spouse is being abused, you can bet the kids probably are too). The state Shoto is in is also a red flag from a psychological POV (likewise with Katsuki). As for average families beating kids, just because something is common, doesn't mean it is good or healthy. Take a look in history for things that at the time were normal, but now known to be harmful. We are just another point in history, screwing things up, just like them.
i think you could have dived deeper into his abusive aspects at home, how they contrast with his job and how that parallels with real life examples for military, emergency care, and police force personnel, as well as how his dedication to the goal of surpassing all might, a goal many heroes strive towards to a lesser degree, eventually caused mental health issues. because in the end endeavor's violence and eventual depression stems from untreated mental health problems, something that many men in similar fields especially soldiers don't address due to several reasons such as societal stigma and expectations.

Bakugo tells Deku to kill himself and he's always angry just like Endeavor. Endeavor abused Shoto but he is obviously trying to atone for his actions just like Bakugo. They both are simular and yet Bakugo is a fan favorite and Endeavor is underrated like c'mon! how is that fair? I know that abusing is wrong, but everyone deserves a second chance. Endeavor is my favorite character in the series because he isn't perfect like a human, and he is trying to atone for his actions which is respectable. I feel like people hate on Endeavor a little too much and that's not fair. He may not be a good person but he is trying to atone for his actions and he knows thar his family may not forgive him but he just wants to atone and make his family feel normal.
Everyone deserves a second chance if they are willing to make a change.
Nux needs to make a video about that last episode. The anime illustrated it absolutely beautifully.

His behavior is given a pass while everyone admires his good qualities forgetting the bad and no good character in the mha verse ever has a problem with his condescending attitude still.

And I find it hard to believe in a class of would be heroes kids actually admire Bakugou so much. Doesn’t make his development interesting at all.
Kirishima admires him, Midoriya admires him the rest of the class is motivated by him. Which is such bullshit.
The only people who disliked his attitude are Monoma and the meatball guy who ate turned into losers because DRIVE is the MOST important thing in a hero. Find it hard that there isn’t an actual sane person in class who gets super annoyed by his behavior and dislikes working with him.

@@fablihakhan904 I don't know what the hell you're watching, but bakugou never said he failed the provisional license exam because he was weak...He said he was weak in general and it was because he was weak, all night had to retire...Another thing you fail to understand is admiration and dislike are not mutually exclusive...You can admire qualities of a person you dislike...For example I absolutely hate maradona as a person...But I whole heartedly admired his football skills...Even izuku in their fight said he hates how rude and mean bakugou is , but he admires his skill and strength, which made bakugou inspiring....Same goes for Kirishima, who in the first izuku vs bakugou match commented that bakugou fighting like a true villain...It was only after bakugou tells kirishima about his plan to take out kurogiri to prevent the villains from escaping ,that he notices that beneath the angry exterior, bakugou is much more calm and takes rational decision...Same goes for others...Most students in 1A don't really have a close relationship with bakugou...for a long time kirishima was the only one who was close to bakugou... After that is kaminari and (surprisingly)todoroki...While kaminari got close to bakugou after seeing how serious he was about being a hero in the provisional licence arc where bakugou tries to keep him and Krishima safe from seji, todoroki and bakugou get closer while attending their extra classes later on ..also "looking down on others"...MHA literally made an entire arc partly to show bakugou stopped looking down on others...I suggest you watch the the sports festival and his fight against uraraka where he was literally the only person who wasn't looking down on her

HONESTLY I disliked Endeavor for the to obvious child abuse reason *but* mostly because I myself have my own daddy issues and hearing todorokis background just gave me mini flashbacks- mind you not as ridiculous shonen levels but still intense domestic abuse household .
HOWEVER
I am turning a new leaf (or horizon heh heh) about him, as he is trying to improve which is something I wish my own father did but gave up on

Edit 2: While Mirio is thematically the strongest currently, I believe Midoriya will grow with more burdens to build his character.

It obviosuly isn't about anything like "anyone can become a hero" or "what defines a hero" it's of course about how, no natter what happens, the almighty and all graceful best character of all time, the unbeatable, incredible and unbelieveable LORD TWEEGO shows heroes how it's done. And takes over the world. And is stain. And endeavor. And every good character, for there is no other character who can be good compared to him, the lord and saviour of us all.

I always thought Endeavor was good character for the story show us someone who want be number hero so bad I’ll do in the extend of making sure that his son will surpass him even if his son hates him in which he knows but knowing Toroikdi will surpass him as hero and as a adult
But I never understood this about mha. Without deku’s quirk, he wouldn’t have gotten as far as he did. So you basically DO need a strong quirk to be the best hero. I mean look at todoroki.
Tra-guy D well yeah but there is the odd example of someone without a OP quirk being a good hero but yeah without a massively OP quirk you probably won’t break the top 3
Look at Best Jeanist. The number 3 hero, and his power is to... manipulate clothes. As far as the whole thing with Deku... the story doesn't work if he doesn't have some OP quirk. As the main character of a shonen battle series, he will be involved in a lot of battles. If he just gets beat down constantly, that really won't let the audience feel like he can become number 1, so it kinda loses traction there. Maybe just give him a weak quirk? Well, then it becomes harder to convince the audience that he actually earned those wins. I think the concept is referred to as "suspension of disbelief". There's only so much asspull that people can tolerate before they just become entirely disinterested in the story as a whole.
You fell for the disguise- this is a character drama dressed as a shonen battle series. For this anime, OP quirks are characterizations. They are symbols. Not some weapon for theme.
