Brilliant! Thanks for posting this. It saved me about $1k from what a landscaping guy quoted me. I bought a more expensive relay with a sensor to deal with frequent ditch problems in my area, but it all went together nice and smooth with the 24v transformer.

Very clever man. I ran into the same issue. I ended up running a second 120v circuit about 25% of the pump distance and splice in the pump there. Control valves are 40 feet from pump. I like what you did much better tho

How much volt out to master valva

So 240 goes into box and from there how is the pump powered?

240 feeds the transformer and feeds the line side of the pump relay. Then the load side of the pump relay feeds the pump.

You realize you can just use one of the wires on the 240vac system and it is 120 right? The only time you can not do that is when your pump switch is further up and would switch the sprinkler controls on and off. Or you live in Europe but most of the time that electricity will power most modern devices just fine.

You could and it would work however you don't have a neutral since this is fed with a piece of 12-2 wire. You would be using the exposed ground as a neutral. So my understanding is it is a safer route to use the transformer like I did.

@@MiloFarms I noticed when I wired mine that the power cord coming out of the timer did not have a ground, just a neutral and a black. I used one of the wires off the 240vac and the ground, however, I changed the ground to the neutral bus bar in the panel. The pump start relay had no ground connection, nor did the pump. I did ground the pump to a rod.

Looks terrible. This is the kind of stuff people call me to fix when it blows up

Very well done. All I need is a water source and I’m good to go.

So you ran the 240 into the first box and ran it to both the 24v transformer and the 240v pump . That gave you the 24v to run the pump start relay, and the timer, and the 240 to directly run the pump?

    • @MiloFarms
      @MiloFarms  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes the 240 to the transformer and to the line side of the relay

I wish you also included link for pumpe you use, with specification( like voltage and HP).
    Please ad if you could.
    Great video
    Thanks

Here is a link to the pump: amzn.to/3jJkP1T it is also linked in the description. It is a 1hp pump running on 240vac at 60Hz

How many heads per a zone do you run off that pump and what size line did you use

I run up to 7 heads with the blue nozzle installed. The heads I use are in the link www.lowes.com/pd/Rain-Bird-25-ft-41-ft-Impact-Sprinkler/3104409. It is on 1.25 poly pipe. The pump is a Red Lion 1hp

@@teddyyou2071 I do not really have a way to draw a diagram and post on here but if you follow the links to the products in the description both the timer and the pump start relay have wiring diagrams

Was you able to fit both common wires side-by-side in the sprinkler clock?
