So how does a distance collab like this work. Is it more hammered out in tuning and post processing or is there more exchange at the beginning about establishing note ranges for different parts of the song?
Ive always laughed at the "needs more cowbell" jokes, but listening to this song, and noticing that its great, but getting to the end and feeling there was something missing from the song, and realizing that it legitimately needs more cowbell.
I am OBSESSED with your look in the first part of the video, with the hair and the jacket. You look like such a badass and I am here for it! Great cover, too.
He is incredible. There are alot of fantastic singers in metal history, he can give me everything I want in a metal vocalist. Her voice is gorgeous. Not likely to happen but I'd love to hear her cover the haunting by kamalot
Guess what? I got a fever! And the only prescription... is more Violet Orlandi songs! Another awesome collab, Violet! There's just something about songs you make with Jonathan that make them stand out so much. Thank you once again!
Seems like just yesterday Violet was sitting in her room with just a camera and a guitar making great music. Now she's becoming a world wide sensation and still putting out the great music. Looking forward to more!
...and everything her voice touched became golden... She could sing a song using the plumbing section of a phone book and it would move souls like some ethereal train bound for glory...

You covered one of my most favorite songs of all time. You did it so well; it was a transcendental experience for me. "Thank you" just does not seem adequate. I listened to this repeatedly. I'm not usually one for this type of self-disclosure on social media but I think it is appropriate here. The Blue Oyster Cult and a few other bands (and especially this song) got me through the night when my mother was dying and after she passed. I was 14 and she had cancer; I was there first hand for her decline over the course of three years. The last year was the worst. The lines, "...and she had no fear; And she ran to him, then they started to fly; They looked backward and said goodbye, she had become like they are...," were running through my mind when I last saw her, moments before she died. Those lines, and a prayer of gratitude to God. For 30 days I prayed, "Lord, she suffers. Please, cure her or take her but do not let her linger." A few days before she died I heard this song for the first time. I'm in my 50's now and it still hits me the same way. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Как всегда потрясающий женский вокал и радующий глаза видеоряд! Говорят Ютуба в России больше не будет это большая потеря! Успехов вам в творчестве! Сибирь тоже вас слушает!
Blue Oyster Cult was my first concert in 1976. When dad picked me up, he said that I smelled like beer- I told him that the guy behind me spilled it on my jacket, lol
@@prn8330 Of course, he was 16 once, lol. And this was the 70's- Back then it was customary for a dad to give a beer to his son around 14 or 15, which he did.
Did someone else noticed that for brief moments, the voice of Ville Vallo, vocalist of HIM, can be heard from 3:55 to 4:08? They also made a cover of this song, in their album Greatest Love Songs Vol. 666 :D Thanks for the cover and the amazing reference
My first time hearing Orlandi. It's fantastic hearing hearing an amazingly beautiful voice that isn't overpowered by Jonathan's amazing voice. Great vocal synergy
After listening to this I'd love to hear you sing the song Don't Pay the Ferryman. I don't know why, just suddenly thought of it after enjoying this so much.
This is a great version of this song! I used to jam it on my electric guitar playing on the front porch along with Cat Scratch Fever, the Jack, and Song & Dance Man. The cops would come by and say, "you can't play amplified music outside in public view without a permit."
I always think of the scene in Scrubs where Ted's band performs this in the Pediatric Ward and JD muses on whether it's appropriate to serenade sick children with a song "about the upside of death." Knocked it out of the park again, Violet!
Love this collab, Violet. Will Ferrell and Christopher Walken would appreciate this. I gotta fever! And the only prescription is more cowbell! Love your hair and makeup Vi.
Second best duet cover of this song. The title of the best cover of this, goes to Finnish band, HIM. Which has regular vocalist Ville Valo, & guest vocalist Sanna-June Hyde, on vocals.
Setting aside the music for a moment -- I think your outfit and makeup in this video are my all-time favorite. It's understated, but there are lots of interesting details to be noticed by people who pay attention to details.
V: If I’m gonna die, rather fall into my grave, gun in hand and on fire. And NOT drag anyone down with me Silverhand: ha! You just discovered what it takes to become a Legend. Grab your iron…let’s mobilize Well done V, the city will be screaming your name when you finish Arasaka….give them hell
I Love this song🤍 that’s an awesome cover as always, love your take on it👌🏼 but I have to say, HIM’s cover of it on Greatest LoveSongs vol.666 (1997) is my absolute favourite🙌🏼 That version was superb✨
Interesting take on the song. Tempo of the voice versus the tempo of the song makes the song sound it bit slower and Gothic(?), almost taking it into the metal zone. Fantastic cover.
(Don't Fear) The Reaper by Blue Öyster Cult is probably my favorite song ever. When I listened to your cover, at first, I did not like it. I did not hate it, but I did not like it. And then, the song grew on me. I listened to it a couple more time, and the more I was listening, the more I knew that it was actually brilliant. I understood that I first rejected it because I love the original so much. I still prefer the original to be honest, but I really think you did this cover in the best possible way. To me it's a different, great song. Amazing work, wish you the best.
Ngl I screamed a little when I saw this. This is probably my favorite song, ever. I've listened to so many different versions of it and the original through the years. This collab was perfect and you both killed it!
Holy hell. Damn good and enjoy it tremendously. Great work and thanks for a new spin on a old classic. If you pulled this off can only imagine hearing you pull off dust in the wind by Kansas. Keep up the amazing work.
I gotta say I do fear the reaper 👀 what’s your biggest fear?
War on U.S. soil..
no idea what a reaper is
Being completely alone
Being forgotten after I'm gone

I feel like it was only a matter of time before we both covered this song 🤣
Indeed, sir
Great job Johnathan !!!!
It's only taken 30odd years to get a truly excellent cover
So how does a distance collab like this work. Is it more hammered out in tuning and post processing or is there more exchange at the beginning about establishing note ranges for different parts of the song?
You two slayed it!
A duet where the man sings high and the woman low is definitely something I needed in my life and didn't knew
welcome to musical cliches. :D
Kamelot "Wasteland Monarchy" has this as well, although she also growls.
They sing Good together, Man&Woman Forevermore………

Ive always laughed at the "needs more cowbell" jokes, but listening to this song, and noticing that its great, but getting to the end and feeling there was something missing from the song, and realizing that it legitimately needs more cowbell.
There's definitely something missing, not sure cowbells would save it.
listening to it now and getting to the second part and i started clapping on the beats. it really needs more cowbell
I have a couple of cowbells. One handheld & one snare mount.
It's an instrument-a-long. Just pull out your cowbell.
Its absence is genuinely conspicuous.
I am OBSESSED with your look in the first part of the video, with the hair and the jacket. You look like such a badass and I am here for it! Great cover, too.
well she has self confidence that is why she looks like a badass.
She definitely wears her outfit well. Beautiful. 😍 🐶🐕

Could really use more cowbell lol nah, this is great! Another great performance by all involved.
Ha ha I thought the same thing SNL ruined me.
I knew someone was going to beat me even though the song has been out for less than 30 min lol
Awesome comment!!! It reminds me of a certain skit that never fails to crack me up!!!
Yup.. stupid jimmy Fallon couldn't even ruin that skit. (He couldn't stop laughing in the background.. never could stay in character)

The question doesn't matter, Katie. Only thing that matters is the answer - Violet

to be fair I ain't got a lot of brain cells left to HEAR this song while typing about it. Violet's singing voice. just. Er. Yeah.
Am I the only one who really likes when Jonathan sings soft and thinks he doesn't do it nearly enough?
He does sound really good when singing soft clear vocals like this
I love this old-skool aesthetic! The hair and outfit work so well with the old-timey music video style.
Didn't know I needed it. Absolutely incredible. Violet's voice makes it so much more haunting, too.
