I got caught this summer in a way too big set of waves in France. I was surfing 6 to 7ft waves which already was a challenge since i just started surfing... waves grew to 10ft.. I got lucky i got out by myself, lesson learned. Just don't go surfing where you don't belong.
I stick to 6-8 and that’s good for me. I made the mistake of trying to bodysurf a 25 footer at blacks at January sixth and it almost killed me and no one even noticed
@@mozdickson ya I got ahead of the foam ball but it just caught up so fast and then I remember remember blackness and fighting not to panic because my ears popped and I didn’t know where I was pointing in the water
@@launchtexasintothesunforev9551 Yooo you're a bigger lunatic than i am, floating on a 25ft wreckingball... lol. How did you even muster the balls to address such a monster ? DAng
Kerry Atwood - HNL Ocean Safety knows what he's talking about. Don't be a Kook, don't go out UNLESS you're well ready, fit and can swim like a fish! Thanks Jolanie. Aloha from New Zealand!
@@danielhartin7680 Oh ok. I live on the coast and can tell when that waves are going to stop. Occasionally they go past that line especially during King tides. Or a sneaker. She must have been addressing people who don’t know about the behavior of waves.
Eddie would go
So true
I'm sure the lifeguards will be working overtime saving tourist, transplants, and idiots.

Throwing around Eddie sized swell words like no big deal kine. 😂
The old saying when in doubt don't go out. ?,Even the best surfers in the world? getting saved. By water patrol And ,lifeguards.
Why not step on smooth wet sand?
Because the sand's smooth and wet from previous waves rolling up that far. You walk on it, more higher than average waves could sweep you out to sea.
