It's too bad that Frank did not live long enough to see Dweezil become the guitarist he is today, although Dweezil has been very good for a very long time. He would be great in one of Zappa's bands. His ZappaPlaysZappa/Dweezil Play Whatever the Fuck He Wants tours were all terrific. Hope they start up again soon.
@@alexcoronayou are correct sir. He taught Dweezil how to play Runnin' With the Devil for a school talent show. He also gave him a guitar right after which Dweezil used for the talent show. Which guitar he gave him escapes me at the moment but you can easily look the story up.
Always a treat when Dweezil stops by! He was taught how to play Eruption by EVH himself, and I've never seen a perfect rendition of it quite like Dweezil's.
I love that Dweezil just brings it by...it's a 300k guitar probably. Reminds me of Jerry Garcia's Wolf guitar which sold for a million dollars and, thanks to cool owners, people (lucky) have had a chance to hold and play it over the years.

Maybe only the body of the guitar made it to the casket and the neck was repurposed for this guitar? Apparently Eddie didn't dig the bumblebee guitar and that's why it wasn't seen after 1979, but this guitar came to life shortly after so.. the timeline matches
@@alec7364 Ed changed necks all the time. I've seen the bumble bee with a black headstock and then with a natural headstock. The BBee with whatever neck was on it at the time WAS buried with Dimebag. Who knows what neck the rasta has on it. Oh and yeah Ed hated the BBee guitar, he said it wouldn't stay in tune and didn't sound like he wanted.
Dweezil has EVH's guitars, but growing up I always wanted Dweezil's guitars, in particular his Jackson with the True Blue MADONNA cover art on it. That guitar to me, is badass.

I am glad I watched this I was aware of the Rasta guitar but I didn't know it was the circle guitar repainted I had always wondered what happened the circle guitar.
I've met both Frank and Dweezil and both were very gracious (got my pic with both). Dweezil is so unpretentious, and striving to gather all the knowledge and technique he can. Dweezil Plays Whatever The Fuck He Wants rock on!
That neck was one of the three necks used on the bumblebee. The neck on the bee when it was buried with dime was a 22 fret Kramer neck that ed sanded the logo off of. Also Ed didn’t paint the Rasta or it’s previous unchained graphic. That was all done by his tech Rudy.

The Bumbebee, as it came stock (the headstock was black) with it as seen on the back of Van Halen II, he then put it on the Frankenstrat, then he put it on the Dragonsnake, and the original headstock (that was swapped out for the stock black one) was still on it when it was buried with Dimebag, I don't know, that's just my theory
It weighs so much because it is a 2-1/2" Mahogany body. which is thicker than a LP. Eddie hated the way a floyd rose can make the tone sound thin so he thought maybe a thicker piece of wood may help. It would have been interesting to hear how Dweezil ended up with it. I know he and Ed have been friends for a long time, but that part of the story is somewhat obviously absent from the video. Still amazing how much that guitar does sound like "EVH" assuming the player can do a reasonable approximation of Ed's style.
Dweezil is such a down to earth guy... I love that he's carrying on his dad's legacy and doing a fantastic job! Ironic to see these guys drool over a guitar Norm wouldn't even give a second glance though if it wasn't for the legacy attached to it... Money money money 💰 always watching these uploads with mixed feelings because this channel in the end is less about guitars than it is about the business of selling them for crazy amounts
Looks like stainless steel frets. Is it? I have 1 guitar that I custom ordered with stainless steel frets. The feel is amazing to me. Very friction free slippery feel.
From the stories I've heard...Years ago, Eddie called Norm late one night in a drunken rage claiming that his 59 is devalued due to the missing pickup, and proceeded to demand his money back; not the $8,000 he paid, but it's 'current' value. A bewildered Norm responded by reminding Eddie that when the guitar was sold to him, it indeed had both pickups. They went on and on and round and round and haven't spoken since.
I believe there's a video on the utube where dweezil played that guitar with tenacious D singing Crazy Train.. look it up. I can't post a link on comment

Ed's tone is always sought after and debated. But whats interesting is that there are several videos of people other than Ed playing ed's classic guitars through different amps. And they all have that sound. No matter what amp they play it through it always has the 'ed' factor. Now this one clearly has a different pickup than the usual which has been debated to be a JB, or custom custom, nobody knows. But this one still has that sound with a different pickup. So I wonder if its the wood, or the wiring?
funny, they are discussing this guitar in a vintage shop with fancy ass 335's from whatever year...costing multiple thousands of $ ...this guitar was probably "put" together with some 50 bucks parts(Boogie bodies,mighty mite,..) whatever was laying around at the time, spray it with some bike paint and off you go leaping from stacks and stacks of Marshalls. That body is probably pure hard northern ash, hence the sound and weight. Not even talking about the kind of freakin pickup that thing has.. Thats rocknroll ladies and germs...
