30 years and 11 months later and it still does it for me. Rochdale's finest. They make me feel proud to be a fellow Lancastrian, not that I ever played the smallest part in their music, aside from supporting it.
I purchased a bicycle in an AE hoodie. The salesman said "hey I like autechre too." While finalizing the transaction, they put on 'Chiastic Slide' for me. I rode away remembering I could've requested a different song but it didn't strike me. Reminds me of when I was on hold, calling for a taxi in Austin texas, and the waiting music was 'lowride' by ae. I was shrooming! good times.
@@davecurtis6930 I figured you worked at that bike shop given the highly unlikely pun you've dropped, and the highly unlikely "shhh" emoji that no one really uses. I went in there in person, downstairs into their shop to talk to the guy who sold me the bike. We looked at your comment. They didn't write it and found it odd/mysterious. Before moving here I had dreams about visiting a place with my parents, that they'd purchased an apartment, of a weird inlay dark black framed entrance in a brick building. Not very luxurious-looking in the dream or anything, and I don't have a wealthy family. About 6 years ago when I first rode past that building it really stuck out in my mind (the building front) so I looked for matching door inlets and saw that weird kinda hipster shop. I know bro! Believe it or not, i came to this video to see if someone in the comments would mention it! Its the main reason i love this song so much. Sometimes i even play it cause of this moment. Pure magic, like lost in ecstasy, in the void of beautiful nothingness!
I remember when I was 8 I was in the car, and it was dark and we where driving through the country side and I was listening to this song with headphones on my ipad mini while looking out the window and idk why but everytime I listen to this song it just reminds me how peaceful that moment was and how less complicated things were.
this feels as something very familiar, cozy and comfortable, and at the same time something new, unexplored and exciting, that feeling of discovering something. Crazy how those 2 feelings are combined in one wonderful mix, so unique. Amazing.
Went to this birthday party a couple of weeks ago with a group of friends fond in good music, play this whole album and they where loosing it, they couldn't believe that this had 25 years old
I like this style of music, because it has a more earthy tone rather than your typical trance or techno. It seems more rock influenced, there's more emotion in it.
One of the greatest, and in my mind, most important pieces of electronic music ever created, on one of the most significant electronic music albums ever created. I'll never stop coming back to it.
@@frankhumbug Their first three albums were a lot more melodic and accessible than the later stuff. I understand why someone wouldn't like the later albums in comparison because there was a significant shift in style after Tri Repetae. The first time I heard Autechre was when I happened upon them performing at Princeton's Terrace Club in 2001. Asked someone what that music was; been hooked since
