On June 8, 2019, the D-Day veteran C-47 "That's All, Brother" joined a U.S. Air Force C-130 from the 37th Airlift Squadron over the shores of Normandy, France to pay tribute to the 75th anniversary of D-Day.
"That's All, Brother" is a true D-Day veteran, and was the lead plane of the 800+ strong airborne invasion which dropped thousands of paratroopers & supplies behind enemy lines ahead of the main force assault on the beaches on 6 June 1944. It was incredible to see her return to where she saw her finest hour so long ago. The 37th Airlift Squadron also traces their lineage to D-Day, so to bring them both together was something really special.
The plane is now owned & operated by the Commemorative Air Force.
The 37th Airlift Squadron, based at Ramstein AB, Germany, traces its lineage to D-Day as well, so they painted D-Day stripes on several of their C-130s, and in cooperation with myself and Moreno Aguiari - Executive Director of the "D-Day Squadron" - joined forces over Normandy in an incredible formation to pay tribute to the thousand who gave all for freedom to help liberate France and Europe, as well as pay tribute to the veterans who survived and the few who are still with us today.

A stunning video! The videotography is amazing! Furthermore as luck would have it, I was on Pointe-du-Hoc shoulder to shoulder with vets and otehr onlookers when she flew overhead! Unforgettable moment with my family.

It was an honor to be there and was made extra special when every day no matter where we were on the beaches they were always overhead putting on a show.

Having visited the area I recognise the topography, the US war graves expecially.

I got home from the Republic of Vietnam as a combat vet and was shunned by most WW II vets at the VFW. Korean war vets treated us better. Just setting the record straight as my experience. Eaglegards...

Dr. Fastestinthewest unfortunately that was the case and the lying media and traitors like Hanoi Jane didn't help...

@@whoanelly737-8 The reality was that WWII was a bloody and brutal conflict most people forget about because they are more familiar with the glorified hollywood version. But ultimately it was a massive major conflict where the US basically got really lucky and got to play the actual good guys to the rescue.
Korea and Vietnam, arguments for how justified they were aside, look far more like how most wars in history do, messy, often hypocritical or selfishly serving one nation. People forget this because we enjoy the good feeling of righteousness that comes from our ideal version of war, the useful lesson taught to us by Korea and especially Viet Nam was that history and the world determines which wars are just, our individual nations, including the United States do not magically make a war just by involvement.

Fucktardickis yea...war by its nature is bloody, brutal and self-serving. Because sometimes...someone deserves a beating.

why is that stupid c-130 even in the scene ?

@@MikeKillian again …why? No one is interested in seeing a linage aircraft. I’ve jumped c47 for 7 years and we see these attempts to connect the two. It doesn’t really connect. Except in someone’s imagination.
