I am proud of her for how she is handling this. She is going through huge losses, painful betrayal, and a horrific shock. The media circus would drive most people to hide or react with anger. In contrast, she is out walking her dog, sitting on her front porch, and standing her ground with reporters. She has clear boundaries, and may feel afraid, and seems very alone, but is bravely facing the situation. Good for her! She didn't do anything wrong, and deserves compassion, support, and peace.

No normal person would likely be able to make that connection about their loved one, their spouse, their father. And remember, it seems he only killed when his family was out of state, out of the country, away on vacation so it’s not like she was even around to notice the odd behaviour in the hours before/after the killings… by the time they got home I’m sure he was just back at his everyday life and routine, work etc. They weren’t around to notice the suspicious behaviour on the nights he killed.

I wonder about that too. I can’t imagine that he was 100% a great husband/dad, maybe off-putting but not enough to raise alarm-bells.
Dennis Rader (BTK) is the only serial killer I’m aware of who, by all accounts, was a great guy according to his family and friends/acquaintances. Off the top of my head, Keith Jesperson, Bundy, Dahmer, and Gacy were all charismatic and “functional” but definitely gave people the ick at times (I don’t know how else to put it). Bundy’s long-time ex-girlfriend and her daughter made a documentary (Ted Bundy: Falling For A Killer) recently about their lives with Bundy and looking back, they can see that that there were plenty of times he treated them very poorly. Jesperson’s daughter has spoken at length about her childhood and in hindsight, now sees the signs that her dad was not a good man. But as the saying goes, hindsight is 20/20. I can’t imagine what it must be like for the spouses and children of these monsters having to go through this, especially because many continue to struggle decades later with their feelings for the person THEY knew vs what they really were.

It IS absolutely possible to not have a clue about what your spouse is up to; you’re busy raising children, working full time, and being the chief cook and bottle washer. After your life explodes, it is a total mindf#$k to try to reconcile the husband you thought you knew, the marriage you thought you had vs. what you have found out about them. In retrospect you begin to remember a look or a remark that now has new meaning, and you kick yourself for not seeing it at the time. I imagine it's a huge schock, to find out your husband and father is a serial killer. They will need a long time to digest this ,and for sure their lives will never be the same. Please reporters, give them space to be quiet, they need it.I wonder how is family house looks like meth house being the guy an architect making good money. Also the family looks very poor the way the dress and their appearance. I guess they will declare in court and explain what type of life they had.

Did the interviewer ever think to ask her if she needed anything? I mean, even off camera - for Christ's sake, do the human thing. Ask her if she's getting help or does she need anything. You'll get your story, but she opened up to talk - she hasn't done that much. So why not seize the chance to do something humane. Maybe it would help you build a rapport with her and maybe if she saw you were willing to try to get her help, she'd trust you more. Just a thought...

You have to wonder if her immediately seeking divorce wasn’t something she had wanted for some time but now was her moment since he was under arrest. She may have been afraid of him - not to the point of thinking he was a serial killer but afraid of what he might do to her if she left him. Just a thought - I certainly wish her and her children well.
