If you haven't heard of him, check out the ice man Richard Klukinsky. He was married with kids and was a hit man for over 30 years. He murdered over 100 people. He was really the first time I realized these monsters live in plain sight.

About a year ago, I worked at Ruth Chris Steak House. When I walked into work that day things were off I figured out what it was. My manager came and told me that there was a undercover investigation going on and that there was gonna be one customer that was going to join another one. that person was the undercover cop(lady) they had dinner, and they used the glassware to drink the water. We were told not to touch that glass of water through the whole shift and act normal like they were normal customers everyone else sitting in that restaurant at the time was also a undercover cops acting at regular customers in regular clothes. They ate the dinner. Everything went normal. The guy got up and left. That lady still sat on the table and the undercover operation was over. They had gotten his DNA. I don’t know what the situation was or what the man did, but that was the craziest experience I’ve ever had. And to know this is how they got this guy is crazy to find out about

I live the next town over and as a Long Island fisherman, we have roamed and fished those beaches in the middle of the night for decades... it is so dark and desolate on that road, god knows how many times we drove past this dude.
I bet he was shocked when the police got him on the street. He thought he would never be caught. All these years his wife was sleeping next to a serial killer.
She had to know something was off with him all these years.

Women have strange fascination with serial killers for some reason. That is why every time there is a Netflix series on a serial killer, it is always a hit among the females.
I remember reading about the Long Island murders a couple of years ago and even then they knew some of the deceased women had been at a house in that area and that phone calls to hire those women as prostitutes was from a location in that area. They just could not pinpoint exactly where and which house. I’m glad they have made progress. These women were someone’s daughter, sister cousin or loved one and are just as important as anyone else. People are tired of poorer women being treated like trash by the law. Hats off to those in law enforcement who persisted.
By you having to say "they are just as important" it's kind of degrading them too.
One of the victims was my friends sister. Her death crushed him and he vowed to find her killer. Sadly he passed before that happened so I’m glad the victims and their friends and family can all finally have some start of closure.

Kudos to the new task force for closing a few of these cases. Good old fashioned police work closed the gap here. My heart hurts for all the victims. They all deserve complete justice
There were also retired police officers who had worked on this case who did not want to let go of it. They kept working on it and helped crack the case too. Kudos to all of them, those women were never forgotten, it must mean the world to the families.
It's always satisfaying to see someone like him being caught after probably believing he would get away with it.
His mug shot gave me a cold chill all over my body I can only imagine what those evil eyes have seen and done! May the victims and families get justice now, great work law enforcement 🙏

Being someone who respects high-quality investigative police work, I cannot fathom how knuckleheads in the public would use mug shots as indicative of a suspect’s innocence or guilt, particularly when so many facts tend to be released about how authorities identify and close in on such murderers; it’s depressing that these people can serve on juries.

They got his DNA matched so I would say he is the guy.
He’s a big unit! I didn’t realise how tall he was. He’d be a strong bloke, those girls didn’t have much chance getting outta his clutches. The fear they must’ve felt is heavy.

The 911 phone call has since been released. You can find it pretty easily online. It honestly sounds like Shannon Gilbert was tripping and her client and driver were just trying to get her home.
Shannon Gilbert allegedly has nothing to do with this crime. She hasn’t been mentioned in any of the many reports I’ve watched on this case nor was she mentioned in the press conference, which kind of makes me sad. Whatever happened to her that night, she is the real hero in this case. Had she not gone missing in Oak Beach, Rex Heuermann would still be walking free. Her disappearance is what sparked the search for these women and because of her they were found.
Every account of a serial killer’s life and personality is like, “He seemed very successful and normal. Unless of course you count his obvious and obsessive hatred for women, which we didn’t.”
More people like him are out there. Hopefully and prayerfully there will be closure and justice for families who love ones were unalived and/or are missing whose investigations remain unsolved.

@@rain0069 Hurricane Sandy hit 2 years after the first remains were found in 2010. I would hope they did a fairly thorough search on numerous occasions. Cadaver dogs are really really good at their duties. Of course remains could have been missed during those searches but based on the way the bodies had been disposed and concealed… I think that they found them all. At least for that location. I really don’t think he would dispose of more bodies there in the two years leading up to Sandy. He didn’t seem like he WANTED to be caught. He used burners. I get he taunted some families but never the police(he wasn’t trying to play cat and mouse) Yeah, so going back to that scene w/ more bodies seems unlikely. Just my 2 cents.

In what day and age was that not true? It used to be so much harder to track people. People used to have literal death hotels. Where they'd be like yeah that's the guy who kills people. They were extremely sloppy to the point the only way they would catch them was when they'd get caught in the act, or several victims escaped.

The new police chief said he’d take on this case. And he sure delivered. I wanna know why the other police chief was so sketchy about this case. He did everything he could to railroad this case that to many, he seemed to be the killer. Or at least was protecting the killer.

I’ve been all over this case since it began. I was actually watching a true crime video on the Gilgo beach murders the day before he got caught.
If he did this, my heart goes out to the victims families as well as his own family. Lord only knows the nightmare that wife and kids are living right now with an entire nation watching…

Her sad story has stuck w me over the years! The whole family has been struck with tragedy over and over again! I pray this brings them some sort of closure. Because her sister had a mental break and she killed her mother and now it’s just a sister I believe left! and the other one is in jail. So sad.

That’s one reason I’m not convinced that Rex is the murderer. I’ve lost faith in the feds..and though he likely is the killer, due to the known corruption of the FBI, it’s possible he’s a patsy.

I think the reasons it took so long to solve the murder are 1) these girls were involved in high risk behavior (drugs, prostitution) so the cops did not prioritize this case, and 2) remember the Gilgo 4 victims were found only because the cops were looking for Shannan Gilbert. Although Shannan's body was found in the same area as the Gilgo 4, her death was unconnected but the cops worked on the assumption her death was connected and that threw them off the right trail for years.
Kind of looks like he has a smirk on his face. Prayers to ALL affected by this senseless murder investigation. Family, friends, paramedics, police officers. First responders, EVERYONE. So very sad, as to what ALL the victims must have experienced. How the criminal can go on living a somewhat NORMAL life after the murderous excruciating pain and devastation he has bestowed upon ALL others is beyond me and ALL OTHERS. Facing NO death penalty??

I became aware of this case years ago on 48hrs, never thought they would solve this case.
I have never seen your station's coverage before today. This coverage was so well done, from the historical information to present day. Job well done! However, one concern I noted was about that police chief who wouldn't let the FBI help out in these cases - that is strange and confusing......

A woman made a 911 call on him earlier this month saying he was following her around the park and creepy. He was on the prowl again and police arrested him because they feared he was about to kill again

NY Police did a great job. Burke, the police chief was corrupt and refused to let FBI help. That slowed down the investigations. Only Burke, not the hardworking cops who cracked this case.

Lots of evidence on this guy already and the investigation is far from over. The smoking gun 🔫 of his wifes hair strand in the knots of the burlap is just insane. An each time a victim was murdered his wife was out of town so that shows he had the victims over to their home at some point.😮 This sk is toast.
No, it just means the burlap sack was either kept in the home or he just had his wife's hair on him and transferred it to the sack without realizing it.
