Volkswagen Audi Seat Belt Wire Repair / 00591 Fault Code Air Bag Light

2008 Volkswagen Golf MKV R32 US edition #3900. This is how I diagnosed and fixed my airbag light.

Thanks for the tip on the liquid tape. My wires were crimped so close to the buckle, it was a huge help. Got it done in one try.

I just sorted out my VW Crafter motorhome 's SRS light , bit of tape to tidy up wires and glue the two halves back together tomorrow and one major head ache gone

Awesome video man. The weird thing is that the same 2 color wires were broken on mine too. Blue was obvious but the yellow I had to split open the housing. No more Airbag light. You rule! FYI, mine has 4 wires.

Good video on a common VW problem. I just repaired mine this weekend. Both seatbelts had broken wires. Just to add to your tips, I took my seats all the way out and worked on them on a bench... made it a lot easier. Once you have the seat out, you have access to the other end of the harness that attaches to the main harness. With that access, you can check for continuity using a multi-meter to make sure your repair was sufficient. Also, I soldered all of mine. I did not have to clear any codes as they just went away when the system no longer detected the fault. FWIW, mine was on a 2003 GTI. Good video!

In my case, there was just leaves and debris in the buckle. Helpful video anyway.

I got the same problem with my belt except only the locking part. While I am driving with my seat belt on it still is beeping and the light that my belt is off comes on. I am guessing that one of those wires got disconnected, cause as you do when I wiggle the belt it goes off and on again... So I need to fix it, but how did you open the thing? Just brake the plastic?

Slowly pry at the bottom up the sides.But yea you will need a little glue putting it back because its a part thats melted shut when they made it

Check airbag icon came on after car sat idle with on engine for
a few hours without knowing. Any ideas what happened or why icon came on
right after car had run out of gas?

I'm going to cheek my pass on to see if there's any brakes the air bag fault has been on for few months somone moved the seat and it come on
