    This work speaks for itself. I never thought Instagram was good for sharing art, it’s more for people sharing themselves and what they’re doing.

    Oh Sandy, if you only knew how much it means to have one of your videos pop up on any given day. I paint/draw/art simply because I love it and it's something I have to do in my life. I can't imagine doing it as my means of survival. I don't Insta or Tik Tok, FB is pretty much non-existent but YT always has something to inspire me. The algorithm is insane and means I sometimes have to really search. But it's always worth it. You are a bright spot in my creative life.
    Just ordered the Eco pen. I recently got a Lamy and the nib isn't fine enough. Although it lists fine. But I love using it for pen & wash. So I'm hoping I'll be happier with the Eco. And time to get out my pointilism skills. Talk about zen! I'm still recovering from back surgery and the pens let me sit on the couch instead of at my drafting table.
    I adore you and your work, just keep going and ask us to share your videos. That should help a bit.

      Each brand is different in what it calls fine and extra fine - and they also perform differently on different papers :)

      A German fine (Lamy) is about a medium when compared to a Japanese fine.

    I can relate so much!!! Thank you for sharing these deep and vulnerable thoughts with the world. This is so brave. And cheers to baby steps towards the bigger dream :)

    I love your channel. I am learning so much from you art wise but also thinking beyond that.
    I am a starting artist, but this isn’t my first career. I used to work in the medical field. I rediscovered my love for art and making only a few years ago. The thing that is holding me back is the fear to discover that I am not an artist after all. Even though my work is promising. I really have that so-called imposter syndrome. It keeps me from drawing every day and trying bigger things. In my case it is me that is holding me back.
    You are my benchmark in many ways. So for me you are way better than “just decent”. Lots of love from the Netherlands 🇳🇱, Linda

      Aw I hope you can chase away the imposter syndrome!

    Thank you for this thought provoking video. I have been having to reevaluate my art business lately as well, and can totally understand the frustration of social media. We just want to create and enjoy the people who appreciate our work, not the hassle of promoting and working around the craziness out there. Hugs!

    I so know the feeling. Here I am (supposedly) retired, but still working to make ends meet. For me to create, I need a clear mind - not worrying about who's sick, where I have to be tomorrow, what I have to have finished by tomorrow. And working on an old laptop that won't let me sign in sometimes for hours! So no, my creativity can't push thru all that muddle - it often gets left in the dust. The best we can do is remember God has a plan, and it's not always our plan. He has given me a ministry as a caregiver, which can be overwhelming at times. But I do love it, and try to squeeze in art somewhere. But it's usually with a deadline, which means it has to be simple. So for now, I accept that's how it is. I still hope one day (with a financial windfall that could help all of us!) I will get back to spending more than an hour on a project. TFS

    • @SandyAllnock1
      @SandyAllnock1  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha the windfall! I always think if I won the lottery everything would be easier but then....I realize God hasn't given me a winning ticket probably because He knows I wouldn't use it well. Ha.
      I'm glad you love the ministry you have - even when it's hard it's good to know that's where you're meant to be.
      And on the computer issues - good thing art doesn't require a computer! :)

    Wow Sandi that was very thought provoking. I am now retired and never had the time to really go after my artistic dreams. Now I do have time, but I have no big dreams anymore. I really need to think this through. It makes me sad to lose my dreams. I love your drawing and I am going to get it to remind me as well. Thank you for being so open to share this. I would love to see what you can do given all the time you need to work on a project. I am sure it will be completely amazing. ❤

    • @SandyAllnock1
      @SandyAllnock1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t think we actually lose our dreams… I think they just go into hiding and then they can come out and blossom in new ways later 😀 it’s never too late!

    You are amazing!!! I was introduced to you in the card making industry. I know that’s just a baby step to getting where you want to be but many of us here in Mississippi watch you and learn from you all the time.

    Sandy, you sounded quite Canadian at the end of this video. Thanks from this Canuck. I worked many years in counselling and this was good advice and lots of fun to watch you at work. Beauty! Rock on, girl!

    Art is cheaper then therapy and much more fun to do. I totally get what your saying and I too feel stuck most of the time. Unlike you I don’t do what you do to make a living nor do I have the back bone to put myself out there on TH-cam

    Idea: How about breaking up the video into series instead of speeding through? You always have good tips and stories to tell anyway. I can totally appreciate cliffhangers every now and then.

    Wonderful therapy session! Lovely drawing...oh, please consider a children’s book. As a granny-aged person I still collect and enjoy well written, beautifully illustrated books and know you could be a STAR in that field. I’ve carried a story in my head for eons maybe your discussion will get me started again. Much luck and love. Susan

    Sorry posted before I was done. I wish I did have a channel but with the cancer I’m doing well to work in a gallery were I can make cards and do skill building. Your work is amazing and your the only one I follow that does more then one or two different mediums which I like because that’s me. Anyways I love your classes working through your hex class now and when I’m finish if it’s ok with you try to get my water color tombow markers into my own chart. That’s my big dream so far

    I recently found you and am a fellow artist who makes a living from doing what I love. In my experience, I have to dream big and slowly work my way through life till I achieve the goal I set... sometimes it takes months and sometimes years, but ultimately one has to have dreams to aim at or one wanders around in the wilderness with no direction really. I would love to connect with you in a personal chat. However I can't get the new Threads here in Germany as it is not available here.

    • @SandyAllnock1
      @SandyAllnock1  ปีที่แล้ว

      I hope they get Threads rolled out worldwide! But you can join Artventure and we could chat there - it's a great artist community I've been building, a few thousand of us are sharing and growing together there :)

    Sandi which fountain pen are you using on this drawing? Is it a fine or extra fine nib? It looks so smooth. Thanks.

    • @SandyAllnock1
      @SandyAllnock1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s the fine nib, Eco by TWSBI.

    Hi Sandy, perhaps you should just charge a lot more for commissions. 😊 Your many-days-effort work is incredible. I hope you work out how to get to a highly paid stage as an artist; you deserve it and are most certainly talented enough. Xxoo
