If I recall the original benching video he benched them for motivational issue and it was reflecting in their practice. That's actually a good thing when your coach calls you out for being lazy considering now Jensen sailed it in after he joined TL and plays farm simulator with any aggressive melee champion.
I think the coaches could've just told sneaky and Jensen straight up that the subs are playing better than them in scrims so they want to give them a try and Sneaky n Jensen would've respected that a lot more, the coaches handled that really poorly
Idk about that, In the previous split C9 went from 1st in the league half way through the split to finishing the split 5th and losing 3-0 in the first round of the playoffs. After they benched most of their main roster they ended up permanently changing from smoothie to zeyzal, discovered blabber was a good player, and would go on the make top 4 at worlds that year. Whatever C9's management did was probably for the better tbh.
@@agentcodybanx8909 when you say hindsight Is 20:20 that implies that someone made a poor decision, the decision that c9 made got them top 4 at worlds, not exactly a bad decision

It is funny the lengths coaches/staff are willing to go to avoid telling the truth. Is it so outrageous to say "we want to experiment for a few games, nothing to do with X player's performance, we genuinely believe in the academy player". As long as it doesn't impact playoffs I can't see how fans would be that upset
I remember watching QT, Dlift, Aphro and Sneaky at the end during the cast of that first game where Sneaky got benched. Zeyzal flashed over Keith and got killed for first blood. I was honestly like, this is what they switched Sneaky for?
Jack made it out like a bandit, he subbed them back in, they started winning more and Jack went to media to paint a picture of how he shocked them alive again to be better players. Most of the League fans ate it up like he sacrificed the Queen to get a check mate.
If I remember correctly this was seen as a sandbagging attempt. I think they were trying to lose but in a “oh we think our sub deserves to play a main stage game” I could be remembering wrong but I know this situation has happened before XD
