This scene is way sadder in the GBA version than in the PS2 version. In the remake, Riku Replica is comforted by the idea that his heart would go to the same place that the real Riki’s heart would go. But in the GBA version, there is no acknowledgement of comfort. That’s it, this all over for him. In fact, the “Oh, well.” is him lamenting that, even in death, he can’t have a fate that is his own, bound to copy the original even as he meets oblivion. Gosh, Reverse/Rebirth was the last time that Kingdom Hearts had good writing. It was all down hill from here.
