If you haven't seen it, I recommend Dangerous Minds w/Michelle Pfeiffer. It predates this and although this was good, Dangerous Minds was better (IMO). You should definitely check it out when you get a chance. It was very popular back in the day. Take Care ...
Goated Movie . Great Substance , Great Story & Actors … The Message Is Very Clear . No Matter Your Background We Are All Human That Go Through Different Trials & Tribulations
As a teacher, most of us do and try but we get burnt out because of the broken system. Not to mention mostly everyone points the finger at teachers for things out of our control instead of acknowledging that society as a whole (parents, politicians, etc) has their parts to play in educating the future generations and have failed. Teachers get stretched so thin trying to make up for that in what ways they can when they already have so much on their plates.
This just took me back, it's a different feeling when you first started to love going to school. Shout out to Ms. Parks, my 7th grade english teacher. I used to be so excited for 4th period. A great person, who had a passion for teaching kids. Every book taught me something. My friends and I would talk about the chapters we were assigned the next day like, "can you believe that happened?" SL I'm glad so you watched this, you reminded me that I love to learn.🖤
What’s crazy I was really depressed and went through a lot in high school. And every year I had a teacher that I would connect with and bond with. They made me want to go to school and gave me hope. Guess what kind of teach they were my English teacher
One of my favorite movies. The biggest inspiration that led me to want to write and journal everything, plus read Anne Frank’s diary (if you haven’t already, read it please). ♥️♥️♥️♥️
SL thank you for reacting to this movie. It’s one of my favorites and I love how much it pulled you in and this will be one of my favorite reactions you’ve done. You made me laugh, cry and all the feels. Especially how much you could see everyone’s perspective and how hard you went on her selfish husband and the hatred of the school administrator! This being a true story is such a triumph, I don’t know how anyone could not give her her flowers for what she accomplished with that class.
I live in LA county and have been to the museum of tolerance numerous times. I made plans a week ago to go tomorrow and then saw earlier you posted this review. I had the pleasure of meeting Renee Firestone(Holocaust survivor) as well. Such a great experience
I really do enjoy this movie, I love rewatching it, makes me emotional...btw just found out, Hunter Parrish who plays Ben actually plans Stan in the 2009 movie 17 Again how crazy lol
I mean did the guy really love her, after all this time of them being together… you mean to tell me he couldn’t understand or stand the test of time of her becoming an educator. It wasn’t her , it was him in the end.
It’s pretty fucking immature to say one is more wrong than the other. They are BOTH wrong! No point in staying together if you neglect your partner. And no point in staying if he/she doesn’t support you.
I cry . I laugh and my heart breaks ...1st time I watched this film i was 14 ..am now 30 and rahhhhhhhhh my emotions are still raw fam ........ story telling at its best .. love the reaction my g 🎉
I grew up in this era and went through the same thing or even worst back in my days in the 90’s.. it was a tough time for teenagers that were involved in the street life.. Had many friends and family that lost their lives over BS. new generations now a days don’t even know what we went through or even understand how it is.. This movie relates to alot of the minority kids that grew up in a struggling diverse neighborhood. This is a blast from the past.
When I was in high school we had an assistant principal just like that negative teacher I also remember having a teacher who looked me in my eye and said I will fail and not graduate that was 16 years ago guess who graduated
Its been many times where i was put in groups with people to "help them" just for them to turn around and cheat/lie instead of actually listening to how i got my answers and trying to learn. So, no you "cant" make anybody want or do anything. They have to figure out what they want on their own. You can help guide them but ultimately its their choice to be all in or not.
@@keojiabrown6807 that was my point lol. ultimately helping guide people is a teachers job. whether or not a person is all in or not, the other teachers lost their way & gave up on them. just because they gave up, doesn’t mean she had too.
At 33:54 reminded me of that interview with Elon Musk mom how she said she wants poor people to have more babies because the companies need more workers 🙄 it’s about control
America has its _own_ history of racism, genocide, and apartheid. This movie is ridiculous b/c these are _American_ students and they largely referenced racism, genocide, & apartheid _in Europe._ Look what happened to Indigenous & Native Americans and Black Americans. Germans learned from from Virginia's "racial hygiene" laws, California's gas chamber, and Indigenous American reservations and implemented these things in Europe. Fixating on WWII Germany is typical on the rare occasions U.S. whites discuss racism & I'm tired of it.
I love freedom writers. When I was in hs we went on a field trip to the movies to watch this. It was a lot of fun. Thanks for always reacting to my favorite movies. 🫰🏽
