I’m afraid to say that their review of AHours was poor, they scrabbled for anything to criticize, knowing very very little of the film for the amount they talked. Sloppy, and not funny I’m afraid. They really sound conceited.
Climax is amazing. Glad I watched it after Adams recommendation on his channel. Relentless and captivating. One of the most realistic depictions of drug taking that I've seen too.
Genuine question, I really want to watch Climax, but is it overly violent for the sake of being violent? I am do not do well with movies that show consistently gore and stuff.
@@calj2405 Yeah I agree with Andy, Theres nothing particularly gory about it. Theres a brief scene of someone cutting themselves that looks very real and is unnerving, but thats about it. It's not violent in the traditional movie sense, it's more emotionally and mentally violent if anything.
5:58 I’m skipping through Climax because I didn’t see it and I read three of both you in Letterboxd and you all they stated that this movie is really amazing. I have to check out if they have it on rent or digital instead. Move on to Scorsese’s After Hours...33:51
Adam talking about how Climax messed him up and gave him some bad anxiety/stress after seeing it reminds me of how I was after I saw 2001 for the first time a few months ago. I saw it in IMAX and the "psychedelic" scene near the end gave me intense anxiety and was extremely overwhelming and made me feel a deep, numbing fear.
@@carlosroman8947 I feel like if you're around their age you've probably seen Spy Kids and would Recognize Cheech. I've never seen any of the Cheech and Chong movies, but I know their faces!
Girl from Germany here! „Horst“ is a German name and it’s a very old name, more common amongst older men. I was like who tf names a character „horse“ lmao but then Ralph spelled it and I got it. You guys have to pronounce the ‚r‘ a bit softer, not like a hard ‚r‘. 😊
I’ve seen “After Hours” and it was really good underrated dark comedy by Martin Scorsese. It’s a quirky film about a lost lonely dude who met up a girl and wanted to take one night with her at Lower East Side until things turn down to be insane. A girl who suicide herself, the dude wants to get out of Bowery and wanted to have a money back for his transportation, all of these crazy neighbors want him to be beaten, an artistic girl who framed him as a thieve, going around places to find help, and it goes on like it’s a weird bizarre film. Everybody else wants to kill him because of everything spending hours and hours in one night was insane and poor dude suffered throughout his entire life. I recommend to see this movie because it’s good indie dark comedy and Scorsese have made his film more like a lost dude experience.

I watched this film yesterday and loved it. I watched it again with my mum today and she quite liked it. My dad watched about a minute of it and said it was "style over substance and pretentious". Thanks, Dad.
Not only is that Jennifer Lawrence butt scratching story confirmed true...she herself confirmed it on the Graham Norton show. Basically bragged about it.
You're trippin man, After Hours isn't even as good as Raging Bull or Goodfellas, and Taxi Driver is better than all of them. Shit even Casino and The Wolf of Wall Street are better than After Hours.
Finally saw it. Had to watch it with German subtitles (which I can't read) and with the French audio (which I hardly speak) the film completely blew me away. The visceral emotions and shocking events got under my skin. I loved it and I'll probably never watch it again...
After Hours sounds like a Catcher in the Rye adaptation, what with everything going wrong, the failed dates, and the fact that everyone is on their own at night in New York.
After Hours might be one of the greatest plot lines I've seen. Its just about a man who through random encounters, lands in the most weirdest night of his life.
25:47 - don't forget, they didn't only consume LSD, they got it through drinking sangria, so people also drank quite some alcohol with it; mixing LSD and alcohol really isn't a good idea as far as I know (I never took LSD myself)
@Joey's Mother Yeah, they clearly took really large quantities without knowing what hit them and mixed with alcohol. It's a weird critique (although it's fine if people don't like the movie ofcourse, but I loved it 😁)
Actually from my experience alcohol is usually a good way to reduce the effects of LSD, since LSD gives you an overwhelming amount of pretty heady energy whereas the alcohol sort of depresses you and calms you. Though considering the amount of LSD in the sangria I doubt it would have actually done anything to alleviate the effects.
So, much of what you guys are describing in the CLIMAX review from the improvised lack of script to the random title cards is all Noe worship of Jean-Luc Godard. Frickin loved it.
I paused at around 30 minutes to torrent Climax, and I watched it without the subtitles and was still managed to get blown away by it's unique artistic style. It was also really well orchestrated as far as cues between the characters are concerned. It was a rollercoaster. See it if you haven't.
My only problem with climax is I didn’t understand the reasoning for the character to drug every one. Hopefully one of u guys can explain why, maybe I missed something. Ik she mentioned her roommate at the beginning, but I don’t see how that would make her do it.
I think the reason Psyche drugged everyone is cause she wanted to liven up the party. When she's talking to the other english speaker she says how bored she is and how boring her friend is. I think she spiked the sangria cause she was bored, which makes her character even crazier
Daylight savings time is from one of the World wars I think and was supposed to make people use less energy. Doesn't work and actually results in higher energy use
I know noone is going to read this but I really want to thank you guys for answering my question. All of you are huge inspirations to me and hearing you read my name, as petty and stupid as it sounds, really made me genuinely happy.
