I just bought this “pro quipped “ kit to mount this eBay corvette Saginaw type 2 pump to my 99 ford ranger. The kit says to use your old flow control valve so you can use you old lines. The Saginaw pump came with a gm style flow control valve. They sell a brass feral thing to fit in the bottom of that deep gm style flow control valve so you can use your old ford “type 3 swivel o ring” lines.
I swapped an LS into a 93 Caprice SS clone with a new old 14:1 800 Saginaw box (Same ratio as the SS). I wonder what pressure target that car is? Big tires and 4100 pounds.
Ours is stiffer than it was prior to the swap, with the reduced pressure. It could be the new steering components, but I'm not a 100% sure. Very good question!
@@BackyardBMX73 ..Ive resore about 25 Chevelles and never had stiff steering with new joints. This is my first newer style engine swap with differant pump style.Ive tried 3 differant gear boxes and all act the same way ...Stiffer.. So after you lowered the pressure did you steering get looser..Lowering the pressure to cure the stiff steering issue is the only thing i havent tried yet.
The steering is stiffer than when original. I never tried it without the pressure reducing kit and the new pump, so unfortunately I can't answer your question.
@@DanneyTanner it has been stated that the older boxes can't handle the pressure of today's pumps. I've seen many people state this, so I decided to get the kit to lower it.
Can’t wait for this car to be done ! Definitely want a ride in it on my next visit
Hell yeah broham! 🤟🤟🤟

@@wheelstandr very good question.
LS for the win.
🤟🤟🤟🤜🤛
My Dad's 69 truck needs a new power steering gear box and I think he had a newer pump on there. Maybe this was the issue.
Quite possibly
Thanks bro I didn’t know
thanks 👍
Thank you for watching!
So would too much pressure from the swap cause my 70 chevelle gear box to steer stiffer than a 70 chevelle ps pump?
