I can't afford the back tyre let alone the bike 😁 ✌️

Also had the same issue trying to bleed the rear brake on my 2017 Monster 821. I tried about 6 times till no air and kept getting no pressure. Took it to a local shop that work on Japanese bikes and he had no clue. Finally, was going to take it to Ducati and pay $100 for them to bleed them, but came across your video and decided to give it a final try. I did it without removing the tire and held the caliper at the level of the reservoir. Worked just as great with just having to push the brake pads towards the caliper piston. You saved me $100! Thanks for the video!👍🏼

So if the Diavel rear ABS is like the Multi rear ABS then there's a step that most Duc owners with ABS (who want firm rear brakes) do. The issue is that the ABS unit is the highest point in the brake circuit... so air in the ABS unit can never escape during a normal bleed. SO... in addition to bleeding the caliper (just like you did), you also need to bleed the ABS unit. However... to do that you need to install bleeder nipples (I used a couple speed bleeders). THEN you can actually get all the air out of the rear circuit.

You are still trapping air. You want the banjo bolt (bleeder bolt) to be the highest point. You had to right until you moved the caliper to the very top.

Your comment about car brakes @16:00 is completely wrong. The pedal gets hard not because of ABS but because the vacuum booster loses it's vacuum when you pump the pedal while the engine is off.
Your comment about the ABS unit causing expansion of the brake lines and therefore the fluid level drops in the reservoir is also wrong. Brake lines do not expand when warm nor under operating pressure.

Thanks man, this helped a bunch.I had a very similar issue. Now the brakes are perfect again!

Rather than take off the tire and caliper, would a reverse bleed with a Mity Vac or big syringe work too???
    Thanks

Reverse bleeding is a better way and much faster too

Done with Benchmade as a company in total? Exclusively carry Microtech’s now? What’s the knife status?

Lmao... And here i am watching security footage to see what i did with the nut.
One thing I would add is buy a good pair of flush cuts for your zip ties. Nothing worse than cutting your hand up on sharp tails of a zip tie.

How long have you been riding? I’ve been wanting a bike and I was curious what’s a good bike to start on. I was thinking of a dirt bike over a street bike just cause it’s a good way to learn before I commit to the streets.

Any retro style bike with under 400cc that you can flat foot when stopped is a good choice. There are quite a few import bikes under $2500 used that fit that bill. Buy used and resell it for almost what you paid when you decide to buy your second bike.

No better feeling than some fresh brake fluid and freshly bleed brake lines on your street bike I used to ride a lot I have a CBR 900 RR and a ninja ZX12R I got rear ended on my CBR totaled my bike broke my leg now both my bikes are just sitting in the garage collecting dust and I bust my YZ250f out occasionally to ride around the neighborhood and piss people off

So this is hella random, however, figuring you might be into similr things I am, have you ever checked out the band/music duo/idk what they go by, “skynd”? Its a chick singer and they make music based on real crimes. I just found them and their songs are gary heidnik, jim jones, richard ramirez, etc... Fuckin badass music too. Judging by your music selection in a few of your videos you may enjoy it. “We are all capable of inhumane cruelties, depending on the circumstances” was her quote about why she makes the music she does. Its incredible stuff.

Hey Sean, have you tried not removing the front wheel and feeding the caliper through the spoke to the high position ? I do that with my Multistrada.
    Nice vid. thumbs up.

thanks mate, very good video. I have a multistrada and had the same problem, mushy rear brake at first and then after bleeding the system still not breaking fine. I wonder where all the air in the lines come from, shouldn't it be a sealed system?

I need to do the rear brake procedure on the xdiavel as well I looked at it last night saw the stupid bleeder valve upside down thanks Ducati I knew I was going to have to take the tire off and reposition the caliper but I figured I'd watch your video anyway everything was correct except make sure your bleeder valve is top dead center of midnight not sideways on top

You have good taste in everything mechanical, including your Pit Bull stands. That brand is like some gun brands...if you own one you’ll want one of every model they make.

    • @daytonasayswhat9333

I find Pitbull stands overly engineered, too heavy and cumbersome.

Daytona Says What?! True, but for nutty people like me who love overbuilt, over-engineered items, they are art!
