Jo Amon casually showing up in the middle of the story, giving Kiryu the ability to force an RPG into a realtime brawler, and leaving because they haven't 100% the game yet is peak Yakuza and it's played perfectly straight

Jo Amon appearing in the middle of story means Amon is canon, and to get to Amon, you have to complete all substories, therefore all substories are canon. Thus, Kiryu got laid in Yakuza 0.

Imagine being a player who has finished all the Yakuza games but never encountered an Amon before up until this point and being confused to how Kiryu knows about him
I don't imagine there being a lot of players who playee that many games without meeting the community.
But I could absolutely see a guy playing like 1 or 2 games, then this one: though they're probably confused by basically Kiryu's entire part.

I like to think that Jo just copied Shins haircut and while he loves the fact that he looks exactly like his Kinsmen. Shin is embarrassed as all heck lol
8 games, and this is the first time I have beaten Amon. I am counting this as a victory
Really he was super easy in Yakuza 6
not that they are hard to beat but for example, in Kiwami 2 I just cant beat the baseball substory so can't unlock Amon fights.

In kiwami 1, all you need is Rush + Dragon (unlocked everything) and all you need to do is tiger drop him all the time

Ah, so Jo died in Fist of the North Star then his soul came back to possess Shin Amon after his failure to beat both Ichiban Kasuga and Takayuki Yagami.
I don't think that was Jo in FotNS. Not only does the game never tell us his name, only calling him "Amon", but he says that his fighting style has been passed down from a time when "dragons walked the Earth" (an obvious reference to Kiryu).
So if the fighting style was "passed down" then it cannot be Jo.
Only Amon clan that can force Daidoji to submission to the point they won't bother both Kiryu and Amon reunited.
I can I can find this as the awkward moment that for those who haven't done any of the 100% all the sub stories movie wondering who is

Reason why Ichiban can unlock Dragon resurgence because he's a dragon and he had a connection with Amon. A small chance would happened but let the Amon involved with Ichiban again.
It’s not the same thing. Kiryu is just temporarily using the strength he once had.

Funny enough, I was actually level 50 with the entire crew by this point. We put up a pretty damned good fight, using Nanba's Malodorous Stench to debuff his Attack and Defense, and Seonhee with the scrubbing spell to remove his Agility buffs. If things got dicey, I even had Bro-ffet on Nanba and Idol healing spells on the girls.
Unfortunately, Amon did over 800 damage (through perfect guards) at around 25% of his health bar, which was _way_ more than he had previously. I'm thinking you can get so far before he pulls out the instakills, or maybe it was just a skill issue on my part. I wonder if you can actually win this fight...
You actually can but you need some ridiculous skill and luck on your side and the cutscenes stay the exact same no matter how the fight ends
Loving how different Kiryu and Ichiban’s definition of the power of friendship is. For Kiryu it’s My power comes from my friends, while Ichiban is My friends are my power, and it translates so well into gameplay with their respective ultimates. Kiryu’s ultimate let’s him get stronger the closer his bonds are and Ichiban’s ultimate gets stronger the more friends participate.

Its almost like when in Yakuza 0 Komaki name was changed into Komeki
The hilarious part is, this is part of the main story, this is a mandatory mission you need to do to progress, so Amon existing means every sidequest in the series since Yakuza 1 is canon since the only way you meet Amon in most games is by doing every substory.
Personally I always saw it that way. One random said the substories weren't canon just to push the narrative that Kiryu never had sex so I told him "if substories aren't canon then the Amon aren't canon and no way you're saying that"
@@pato6738 even without that "Kiryu no sex" push, side stories in games are usually never canon because they're not part of the narrative.
Also because most games have a canonical timeline, Yakuza for example, 0 happened in like I wanna say a week or so. That means Majima and Kiryu excelled in real estate and cabaret in like a week.
Take another example is Ichiban's business dimension. In 7, there's a point where you need to get 1 million, this is to push you to play the business minigame, at your best state in that minigame you can get a million in 1 full session.
But if we take into account that Ichiban canonically did that within the time 7 happens, that would mean he did like hundreds of shareholder meetings in like a month. You can assume they all did this post game events but yeah, you can see why its goofy to think it was all jammed in canonically.
@@SteelBallRun1890 things could happen in premium adventure, for example in 0 there is a month between the final battle and the epilogue so in that month the Real Estate and Cabaret storylines could have happened. Also you´re the one pointing Amon is in the mainline is canon, and in most games you need to do the substories to fight him.
@@pato6738 I know, which is why I find it funny, because it implies these insane sidestories and time constraints have to have happened.
Even then it's probably not that serious, like you can easily handwave that Amon being a canon thing doesn't mean that too, since the connection with substory completion and Amon is paper thin in that he just calls you, he never really acknowledge you did all this, its just a thing that unlocks if you beat them, the game can still handwave it as "Amon is canon and contacted Kiryu at some points in his adventure, the requirements to have met him is not" and so on.
@@SteelBallRun1890 yeah but personally I find no reason to say one substory its canon and another isn´t. With the memoirs of the dragon we see Kiryu canonically did the Pocket Circuit story in 0 and Kiwami, help Four Shine, fight with sharks, be Ono Michio, play baseball in Hiroshima, the Komaki training and I´m probably missing some but the point is he didn´t have time to do this during the main plots but he still did, saying "ok perhaps he find time to do this but not the others" its picky. Perhaps time is distorted like in Dark Souls XD

I'm glad they brought back Jo specifically and not Shin, or some random Amon. He's the Amon that truly started the hunt against Kiryu.

Theres something funny to this if a youtuber you know has played thru many of the yakuza games but never actually met amon cuz they decided they finished their letsplay after reaching the endings.
I actually never fought amon before they sicked him on us in the main story for the first time, I was terrified even though I was *really* overlevelled during this fight.
