Perf guitar solo obviously. I am hooked to Rivermaya way back 94 when i was 9 years old because of their 1st album. Awit ng Kabataan and 214 are both iconic songs with legendary solos. Rico Blanco version is obviously within the style of his music. We cannot expect Rico Blanco to do Perf's solo as melodic as it is. Again, its his style. Both are legends. Respect.

It sounded off when you heard it at first pero kapag pinakinggan mong mabuti pasok lahat ng notes and may character because of the very modal way his playing which gives it a very mysterious/strange vibe. Ganyan din po ako dati sir hirap hirap intindihin yung mga old blues and psychedelic, and jazz type of music, kala ko dati mga sintonado sila pero the more you listen the more you’ll appreciate their musicality.

@ricocruz9705 may mali pa rin SA solo ni Rico , nag flat siya with at least 2 notes to what he intended it to sound, ok Lang mixolydian or lydian gamitin as long as the root note is a major, the problem is his fingers messed up on the fretboard and he tried to compensate using the tremolo bar Ok Lang if he's very familiar with the trem like Steve Vai, but a couple of notes still fell flat

Also, he's playing lead guitar here so why can't we refer to him as that as well? His solo seems more complex and harder to play as well so in terms of technicalities, he has that covered. Still, I'm not saying his solo is better. There are some note choices in his solo I can do without. I'm just saying it would be better if it had a cleaner sound.

Both are impressive, but I'm beginning to appreciate Rico's solo more. Perhaps it's because I've been accustomed to listening to Perf's solo since childhood, and now my ears are craving something fresh. I think both are great, but Rico's solo resonates more with me emotionally, especially the ending.

I guess Rico can't play or not allowed to play the exact solo because of the swelling issue on copyright, (as what is happening to Side A now) so he decided to improvise. But of course, Perf sounds always good, as for technique and phrasing ❤. I think he wouldn't get mad to Rico instead respect his version.

Perf used straight up major scale and he perfected it. I think Rico used a different scale? I'm not sure. Because I can hear a similar style from his piano solo in the song Antukin. But I think Perf perfected the solo tho

It sounded off when you heard it at first pero kapag pinakinggan mong mabuti pasok lahat ng notes and may character because of the very modal way his playing which gives it a very mysterious/strange vibe. Ganyan din po ako dati sir hirap hirap intindihin yung mga old blues and psychedelic, and jazz type of music, kala ko dati mga sintonado sila pero the more you listen the more you’ll appreciate their musicality.

@ricocruz9705 may mali pa rin SA solo ni Rico , nag flat siya with at least 2 notes to what he intended it to sound, ok Lang mixolydian or lydian gamitin as long as the root note is a major, the problem is his fingers messed up on the fretboard and he tried to compensate using the tremolo bar

@@rockycolongon6459 I'm not saying his solo is better than Perf's. I'm just saying it wouldn't be as bad as it seems if it weren't for the heavy delay effect. Also, he's playing lead guitar here so why can't we refer to him as that as well? His solo seems more complex and harder to play as well so in terms of technicalities, he has that covered. Still, I'm not saying his solo is better. There are some note choices in his solo I can do without. I'm just saying it would be better if it had a cleaner sound.

Perf sobrang linis ng riff. Melodic sya, may emotions, masarap pakinggan at may patutunguhan ang bawat notes nya. Kay rico ok naman kaso kulang ng emotions, kulang ng melody, mixed up ang mga notes at hindi masarap pakinggan.
