"Killer" is a song by British acid house DJ and record producer Adamski. Written by Adamski and Seal and produced by Adamski, "Killer" was Adamski's breakthrough single but is now more notable for featuring Seal as a vocalist. A major hit in the United Kingdom, it reached number one on the UK Singles Chart, spending four weeks at the top in May and June 1990. In total, the single sold over 400,000 copies in the UK, earning it a Gold certification from the British Phonographic Industry. The song also peaked at number one in Belgium and Zimbabwe and at number two in Germany and the Netherlands.

George arguably sounded better live than he did on record. He was an incredibly gifted singer, songwriter and musician. Great song.

It’s true. While his recorded voice was perfectly produced and sounded amazing, his live voice actually would bowl you over. Both strong and incredibly rich. Unmatched. Beautiful.

One of his most underrated tracks. I always loved the video for this too, it just screams early 90's lol.

I was just about to comment that 'Papa Was A Rolling Stone' has the best intro ever, and you said it before I had the chance to type it. You've got great insight and a great ear for the intricacies of all the music you react to

@@karenp4667 that is a great performance from George I've seen that multiple times... But I'm referring to the actual concert that was recorded with Queen and made into EP Album called Five Live , features this song , Somebody To Love other different Songs featuring Queen and also Lisa Stanfield . This concert was recorded in 1992 and released as an album in April 93'. ...th-cam.com/video/hjuIIT0OWKQ/w-d-xo.html

The original version of ''Killer'' was from Seal and Adamski written by the two last. It's exist two versions of this song by Seal. The first version was very house-techno. The second, who Seal re-recording of his debut album, adding a rock edge with his techno sound oriented.
George singing this song live in 1991 because he loved this song and the original version of ''Killer'' by seal was a massive hit in UK in 1990 and 1991 and did also well in the rest of Europe and his first European hit (''Crazy'' came after that in Europe). This song came in 1992 in single in US after his US breathrought with ''Crazy'' and was a huge hit in the clubs (enter in the top 10 in dance charts, in 1992 and in n.1 in 2005), but not so much in radios and the charts, only debuting and peaked at n.100 and dropped out the charts after a week.
This live version was included on his Live EP ''Five Live'' in 1993, released from a another record company then Sony. The George version did a little better in the US charts then the original by Seal, peaked at n.69.

Another great reaction I missed! 🙌 LOVE this song/mashup. They’re both covers. Obviously Papa Was A Rolling Stone is an iconic classic hit but Killer is an amazing song too. It’s a song by Adamski, featuring Seal! The original is well worth a listen too!! This recording is a mashup of 2 live covers George released on his 5 Live EP (Extended Play… which is what it was called when a release had too many tracks for a single, but not enough for an album)
This video serves ultimate 90s chic. George was in his phase of not appearing in his own videos, partly to clear the perception of his Faith era ultra-pop image and partly for contractual negotiation reasons, that’s why the models are lip syncing here. This approach came to its zenith with the supermodels standing in for George in the video for Freedom 90 (which is one of my November Endora pics ❤️‍🔥).

Ad culture of the 90's? I think you're right. The way it looks though. I challenge anyone to show this video to a random group of teens without any background info and then ask them what they think. I'm confident their thoughts would not be about the video looking old fashioned. This video looks right now. Those images of people on the subway platform, I see them looking exactly that way today. The song has a definite 90's house groove but the video is surprising, almost shocking, how current it looks.

these songs were recorded live, but not back to back. this edit/mix was done later. Killer was performed at Wimbley Arena. This was during the period where George would not appear in any of his videos, part of his fight with Sony records, a battle he lost in the end. This song mix/mash was another great example of his range and respect for R/B music. This version with the driving bass line is in my top 5 of GM songs.
The video and the ads, like you mentioned, were very clever to me. Using the same fonts of well know products in line with the words..... It made the absence of George more bearable and this has to be one of the most diverse/inclusive groups of people I'd seen in a video up to that time.
The vocals are fire, as was your rendition at the end. We need more Empress VOCALS.... the chanteuse that you are!

The live performance is fantastic to watch because it’s George and he’s always great, but the audio quality is 👎. I wonder if a better version of that concert exists somewhere. He voice was at its absolute prime at that time.
