Fun fact! If the snow lays on the horses like it did on caramel at 1:28 then that means her coat keep her nice and warm. If it "melts" and just looks like rain then that means they may need a rug.
Fun fact: when I did horseback riding lessons in winter here in Canada, I'd get so cold I hat tiny instant heat packets in the toes of my boots & palms of my gloves. I also bundled up in long jons, yet still froze! This was in an INDOOR arena too haha, not heat but still crazy how cold it got. ❄☃️

I’m so glad u know what your doing with rugs and not like some who rug their native Shetlands who’s natural coat is so thick and they still rug them
Nothing worse than them sweating under a rug and then the sweat freezes and gives them a chill. Their natural coat and a good shelter does the job
We rugged our shetland because he didn't get much of a winter coat and our section D ... just because they're natives doesn't mean they're going to get a nice thick coat
@@rachelw8506 absolutely the owner must make that call. However if you are in a situation that you have multiple horses or you work and can't get to them multiple times a day then unclipped natives are better off cold than sweating under the rug. If there is a risk of them getting too hot and starting to sweat and you can't be there to take off the rug then leaving them rugless is fine they are bred to withstand the cold, there are no rugs in the mountains!! 🤣❤

@@rachelw8506 I said it's up to the owner. As they are the ones that know the horse best. All I'm saying is it's better not to rug an unclipped hairy horse unless its really necessary because you don't want them to sweat under a rug which will give them a chill in the cold weather and the cold sweat will stick to them under the rug and they can't get away from it. Horses are animals they will naturally stand together, arses to the wind to survive the cold. Rugs are relatively new seeing as we've been riding horses for centuries

This video is what I want to do in the future as I am now in Leeds. Need to retrain and find sites on the outskirts even though I am near St James where it's the central belt of Leeds. Definitely writing to stables to do this sort of stuff during weekdays as I am redundant at the moment. Thanks for the inspiration.

I am so gutted i don't live where there is much snow. We had 3 minutes of snow the other day and that's all we get to be honest.. i really really want some this year! I'll cross my fingers :(

I have a maybe solution on how to tell dolly and daisy apart. If the tags on their ears are different colors you could remember them but there tags
Have you tried rescuing hens from fresh start for hens ? Would definitely recommend them x

It doesn’t often snow in England so there’s no point buying boots for the snow when it very rarely snows
Yes I don't really snow in England so we don't see the point in getting warm boots for snow

How do you manage to stop other people using your things by mistake at a livery yard?
I have colour coordinated things so everyone knows what is mine and I keep it outside my stable
Where can I get feed bins like the ones that you store the goats food in?
At my yard we just use dustbins or make our own out of wood xx

Did you give the horses water
The horses at home have automatic water drinkers in the field and stable, it’s just Smokey who has water buckets x

Light medium weight Native cob she says traditional but he's not does not have the breed specs to be a traditional she wouldn't get far showing him

@@user8241 its not alm about working the animal to show off their potential.mine are perfect happy being ridden 3 to 4 times a week I don't jump but make sure to keep their minds busy by ground bonding etc
