Not sure why this video was recommended to me as I have 17 years of working life ahead of me before my retirement, but can’t wait. I already have a plan when that day arrives and definitely won’t miss work.
Thank you for a great video. I am in my final year of work and processing all those changes you mentioned. I have been test driving a new mix of activities including volunteerism, more time with my spouse, increased hobby time and prioritizing fitness. I’m really looking forward to having even more time for these things in retirement!
Concur with most of what is said here. Oh, and I speak from experience. Am now 87 and in the 28th year of a very satisfying retirement...much of it in 'Wisdom Sharing.'
@@RetirementTransformed Hi, to you both, and thanks for your comments. I guess I've been into "Wisdom Sharing," or a least to thoughts and feelings on it from 50 of so, after I took my first of sixteen, 10 Day Vipassana Meditation Retreats. Self-knowledge, Self-understand and 'spirituality' without the trappings of religion, have been both my passion and my sharing...and continue to be. I only 'discovered' posting on the subject of retirement a month back, even though I've been making and posting talking-head video for the past six years. Roughly half of these have been on public speaking and storytelling, the remainder on broadly philosophical subjects.
Hi Mark and Jody. Been subscribed for awhile but the algorithm seemed to know that I retired yesterday and put this vid at the top if my feed. Your channel has been helpful to me as I prepared for this. I’m in day one of my transition and I know it presents challenges. I’m excited about what lies ahead and also feel a sense of loss walking away from my career at age 56. Thanks and keep the great vids coming! -Mike
Hi Mike, Congratulations! I remember my first Saturday of retirement and it was mixed emotions for me. That was five years ago for me and boy have I changed. My 38 year career is a distant memory. All good memories but this new chapter is so different. I’m happy your enjoying our channel and hope to hear from you again on how you are doing. Thanks for leaving this comment. Immerse yourself in all that this phase can bring. Mark and Jody
Love the channel. I have been readying for retirement for the past year. The transition for me has been evolving during this past year leading up to retirement. I will officially retire June 20 but April and may I will only work a handful of days. Your advice (#1) about taking the time to think back on all your accomplishments (helping others, teams I’ve been on,etc) was one thing I didn’t really think on. Thanks
@@RetirementTransformedYou are absolutely correct ✅. I grew up in the City of Detroit, was schooled by Detroit public school system. I grew up in a low income house of welfare where there was just a single parent who did her best to raise five girls with the little knowledge that she had. My father was in prison. I didn’t go to college. By all accounts, I should not be able to retire at 49. However, I found Dave Ramsey at the age of 39. I worked multiple jobs at a time, landscaping, waitressing, snow removal, Uber. I paid off all of my debt in five years, including my house and and I’m on track for early retirement. I keep my expenses low. I don’t care about the latest stuff on the market, I care about travel. Most of my hobbies are cheap, jigsaw puzzles, reading, hiking, running, long walks. Even on vacation I prefer to make my meals from grocery stores because it’s cheaper and healthier. So if you make a plan and stick to it, you can retire early.

That sounds wonderful. Thank you for sharing that. What are you doing as your “wisdom sharing”? We would love to hear about that.

I waited 32 years and am about to retire. Amen 🙏. You can do whatever you want.
I retire 5 weeks tomorrow, and I don't have a 'career' have a j...o...b, and I can't wait to retire, and I won't miss the job or my workmates.
I have 9 years left "ugh" but I echo your sentiment completely!!!!

Love your content on retirement. You are so enjoyable to watch and you provide a lot of good insight as to what's coming in the years ahead!
Thanks so much! We really enjoy putting the ideas together and then sharing them.
U guys did a nice job on this and I am getting the books from library
Let us know what you thought of the books.
It's unrealistic for the majority of people just trying to survive.
It all starts with a plan. Don't be afraid of change. Thanks for watching!
