Did you switch the bolts out? Or used the ones that came with the roofnest. I couldn't get in-between the space to tighten them.

Thanks for all the helpful info! I got the exact same setup on my crosstrek. Same malone bars and everything.. are you at all concerned about the way it overhangs in the front? Mine starts getting a little bouncy at 65mph so I dont go faster than that. How fast do you go on the highway?
Hey Nick! That’s awesome we’ve got the same set up. I’ve not been concerned about the way if overhangs, it hasn’t gotten bouncy for me. The roofnest says max speed is about 74~75mph, I think max I’ve gone is 80 and have had no problems. I like to stay at 74ish max tho. Maybe just mess around with how far forward the tent is, and move it back a little if you can still get your back door open

Mine just has a little bit of movement.. but then again the day I drove it back was really windy! Im just gonna take it slow an easy. I'm keeping 65 alive! Lol.. im hoping the decrease in speed will offset the gas mileage lost by adding the tent. But its just gonna take a while longer to get to places! Hey guys this is a great video! I'm actually looking to buy a cross track for my next vehicle pretty soon and I'm just looking at getting a rooftop tent. I saw the Telui 2p soft tents, But I've also been considering the hard style push-up like yours! It looks great. How tall is it when you open it up on the inside? I don't know if you've ever measured it or not. And how have you liked it since you owned it? Maybe a little bit of pros and cons would be great. And you find the mileage went down substantially with that on?

Great video; thank you. I also have a Crosstrek (2017) and got the same (Malone crossbars and Sparrow) from Roofnest BUT installing my crossbars was a nightmare. Unlike yours, none of the connector parts were attached to the bars so that took some figuring out. Then it turned out one of the connectors is faulty (messed up screw and spring). I did finally get it attached--and it is tight--but knowing that it isn't the way it's supposed to be makes me very, very nervous. Waiting to hear from Roofnest (and hoping they won't say talk to Malone). Conundrum because my Sparrow is due to arrive in 2 days and I don't have storage for it. All this to say, I'm hoping you can answer some questions:
1. How many inches apart are your bars? I noticed that your rear bar is not all the way to the back.
2. Did you have the delivery people wait while you inspected the box when it was delivered as RN recommends.
3. Is your tent positioned more to the front because of the rear hatch?
I'd appreciate it so much if you could help me out.

Hey glad the video helped! Sorry to hear that happened with the crossbars.In the manual they said the bars had to be minimum 24 inches apart and mine are well past that, I didn’t put the one all the way to the back cuz I liked the idea of more support being distributed in the middle too, we plan on sleeping with our feet pointing to the hood of the car. And yes I have the nest positioned more forward so we can open the hatchback - it actually does touch the top of the nest so I have to slow it down but it is not a big deal. The delivery guy arrived at my house and said “if you could sign here for me” before he pulled the box off the truck so I just said yes I will I just want to see the box first and there actually was a little tear on the underside of the box. I took a picture of that and signed the receipt, took a picture of that and luckily when I opened it nothing on the tent was actually damaged. Hope that helps, happy to answer any other questions you may have!

I have a soft shell but looking for a hard shell that will close with all our sleeping gear inside. Have you tried that yet? If so, how many blankets can you fit and pillows?
We fit a comforter, fitted sheet and two memory foam pillows no problem in there!

3. I heard that Imprezas roof isnt that strong so just wondering if its worth having a rooftop tent especially the hardshell one?
If your worried about weight ikamper has a mini bug this one it looks like the regular size it’s 130 pounds they sell some from other sights like 90 pounds

Hey so the crossbars say a max haul weight of 165lbs on their site.. have you guys had any difficulties with the bars? Im a fairly large guy so I'm worried if i got these crossbars for my roofnest that they'd break or bend. have you had any issues with this?

We've had no problems with it so far, we've hung out under there in big windy rain storms and stayed totally dry! It's awesome!!
