    The reason it bounces because the wind is goes on the next it to lift. It up just like a 4 Wheeler truck. Or semi this is why semis have flaps on the trailers so the wind don't lift them up and turn them over..

    Thanks for another great video Nick. I’ve never seen one of these tents before. I think being high off the ground is an advantage. You don’t have to worry about critters crawling into the tent or rolling over onto a rock or pinecone in the middle of the night!

    • @nicksangetta8874
      @nicksangetta8874  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Dana! Its a little more susceptible to wind up there, but you are right about being up and away from the critters. Also the foam mattress is really good. I added a bigger sleeping bag and the extra padding is perfect!

  • @mickeybrumfield764
    @mickeybrumfield764 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Guess you can camp just about anywhere you can park. Always thought a roof top tent would be more susceptible to the winds than a ground based tents, but this tent seems to be made well and your less likely to be eaten by a Wyoming bear. Used to sleep in a tent outside my car, couple of years ago figured out how to set up my Forester so I could sleep inside the Subaru and it can't be beat sleep like a baby no matter what the weather conditions. Going to look into one of those thermometers looks good. Thanks for showing us how a roof top tent works.

    • @nicksangetta8874

      Im afraid to just park anywhere and pop it open. Its not quite a low profile as sleeping in the car. I did try that at first and bought this thing called a Luno Mattress that custom fit the crosstrek. But it TRASHED my back. Had to return it. So for now, Im just finding pull offs and dispersed campsites to stay. I use freecampsites.net and its really helpful. But yeah, it feels pretty safe up there. Really cool to roll up the side and look out at the stars.

      Nick don't do like I do sometimes and roll out of bed forgetting where you are, might make for a nasty fall tumbling off the top of your car.

    You are funny. And real. Good, honest review. Do you think it would affect my 6.7 Hemi 3500 longbed mpg? I'm currently raking in almost 8 mpg around town. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣WHAT

    • @nicksangetta8874
      @nicksangetta8874  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Jodie! 8 mpg! 😲 I have found that lowering the speed offsets the loss in gas mileage. I dont go over 65 because the tent starts moving around a lot. But it hangs over quite a bit in the front on the crosstrek. On a flatter, longer roof it might ride better and you could go faster. Unfortunately though, you will probably notice a bigger loss if you go faster. I just tested it driving from Grand Junction to Fort Collins going about 65 and the gas mileage was about the same as before. I hit 340 miles when I dropped below half a tank. Thats good! It just takes longer to get places.

    • @nicksangetta8874
      @nicksangetta8874  ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't noticed anything as far as the car driving different. But I dont like going faster than 75mph with it. Thats the biggest issue. Cant go super fast. It costs a little more in gas but not much.
