Also, if you're using just the drone on its own, and it's flying at a set distance from you, how do you get near it to hand land it? Surely it will just keep moving away from you? 🤔🤷

Fantastic video, just ordered mine at Best Buy and picking it up an hour. I need this for my TH-cam channel, which focuses on cars and DIY. I always wanted some b roll footage of the cars, but I didn't want to invest the time to really get into "droning". This will serve my purposes amazingly well. Thanks for publishing this video.
The sound recording capability while muting the props noise, and being compatible also with the DJI wireless mike, was what sold that drone for me. Great review video again btw !
A copy of the first gen HoverAir X1 feature-wise, DJI playing catch-up! Unfortunately for DJI the HoverAir X1 Pro and the 8K ProMax are shipping soon with much better spec than this. The HoverAir also has the advantage of being foldable so fits in a pocket.
But thay will cost alot more than £170, and won't work with the dji controllers you allready have. I allready have the avata 2 and mini 4 controllers to use with the neo.
@@andyparle5494it’s not a dumb comment. It’s quite relevant when there’s competing products in the market that DJI have quite clearly modeled the Neo on. So much of what it does and the way it does it is based on last years Hover X1. The price of the Neo is very nice but I’d have to immediately dismiss it because it’s not foldable like the Hover X1 and it looks like the Neo is too slow. That was the problem with the first Hover X1. Couldn’t keep up with you when cycling or mountain biking. But the saving grace for the Neo is its cheap price.
This would make a great home security camera option. I’m still waiting for the ring drone camera to come out lol. This would be better than having multiple cameras all over your property. Follow a suspicious person etc. hopefully one day they will come out with a security camera drone. I could see it now. Have it’s own docking station to charge. Have motion detector meters around your house to set off the drone to turn on and go to the area of movement etc. as I write this my ring camera notifications are popping up. It would be nice to have a drone to fly around my house to see what’s going on all in the comfort of my bed.
😊It's like the first mini drone HOVER X1 that DJI somewhat copied, very cool indeed. What I like about the HOVER X1 is that you can fold its wing and put it in your pocket, in small bag, or cargo pants pockets, and backpack. What I love about the HOVER X1, is the Dolly Track where it follows you from the front. But great job DJi for having an improved phone remote control, and what a great drones videos, thank you!👍
The Goggles 2 are now compatible with the other O4 drone, the Avata 2 as of the most recent firmware. I’d expect it to be compatible with all O4 drones. The goggles v2 are likely not compatible though 😢
32 or 64 GB would have been much better, 22GB? Does it have a 32GB chip that 10 GB are used for the Drone software? Does the Neo have a find your drone feature for when it crashes in tall grass or lands in a tree?
might buy this drone cuz this seems so versatile and user friendly. That prop noise removal feature is pretty epic for being able to use this for man on the street interviews etc.
It is very appealing. My only reservation is that the footage in this video looks overly contrasty, saturated and sharpened. The grass looks of an unnatural green. Is there a flat /dcinelike color mode?
That is pretty accurate, I think dji didn try to put much effort into the video quality, they look like the just wanted to beat the hover x1 specs and pricing for the market, hopefully a software update can fix this o who knows, maybe they actually try and release a pro version of this unit later down the line.
@@stefpix it’s a step below their other drones. Like mentioned at the end of the video if there’s a need for higher quality, they have the mini, air and Mavic lineups. This one is for simply all around fun at an affordable price.
@@CLVlogs05so yeah you have a drone that can do ALL that yet you're left with footage that doesn't even look great. I don't even like the footage from my Mini 4 Pro compared to my Mavic 3 Pro and Inspire 2 I know this one looks fun as heck but stinks the footage is most likely junk.
In your video you said that with the RC3 you can have full manual control, does this mean it allowed you to do flips and loops? The official documentation says that even in manual mode you can't perform high-maneuverability actions such as Dive, Split-S, Power Loop, and Yaw-Spin.
@@adrianbaldwin8832 FYI... I found another video comparing the Neo to Avata 2 and he does attempt some power loops. The drone tries to do them, but fails and falls out of the sky. Luckily no damage. Still sad, I was hoping for more of a tinywhoop. Might go the Flylens 85 route now.
nice review... but this DJI drone is way too noisy. Which model do you recommend for low-noise? With this, you can't operate discreetly when shooting in crowded places.
As usual, an extremely coherent, informative review. When this drone was in the "rumor" stage (yesterday) the price being floated was around $350. Just under the Hover 1. With a $199 actual price, DJI has, once again, stomped all over the competition. With much better features, there is almost no comparison with the Hover 1. The only knock against the Neo is the prop noise. Sounds like the Avata 1.
In my opinion the other knocks are the lack of SD card slot and not so great wind resistance. My Mini struggles in the wind and that’s even heavier than the Neo. Don’t get me wrong though, overall I think it’s a fantastic drone for what it is
Its decent for the 1st going, but I see a Neo Pro coming very soon. I would get this before any X1 because price is at perfect spot, and image quality can be increased in post.
@@AtortAerials The thing about the 3 Pro..that was kinda niche and for some people totally not that great was that 7X camera..it was nice. but the reviews and results were not that favorable...now if they improve on that with the Mavic 4 Pro..which chances are they will bc the upcoming Air 3S has a new redesigned gimbal and the cameras for photography alone seems to have been improved..exciting stuff from DJI coming up for sure..
Thanks for the detailed review and it seems to be a real game changer. I am not sure if Neo's specific high noise pitch has already been discussed in a little more depth anywhere, but that specific high pitch will be a tough one, at least for me since it doesn't correspond well with my tinnitus😏. Besides my personal preferences, off course we are all used to "droning out" the different frequencies of our drones in close proximities. but this is DJI 's first drone that is meant to fly v e r y close to you a lot, acting basically as a virtual camera to replace selfie sticks. I am curious how owners feel about it after a couple of weeks or months, and maybe it is just me and everyone else gets used to it quickly.
Silly question. If you are using the drone without a controller, how do you get it to come back to your hand? For example, I have it set to follow at a far distance, does it have enough sensitivity to “see”: my hand sticking out for it to come back and land? If so, how far away can it be?
Hoverair I had it and returned it - hoverair cost a lot more and I have the Neo as of tommorow which cost less and better drone. I have the DJI Mavic 2 zoom and mini 4 pro - sold my spark, mini and mini 3 pro …. Been following you for years - great informative videos you do 👍 - Also the RC2 works with the neo
This DJI NEO is another Drone with all the easiness of controlling without the remote, also no FAA registration, super portable, fits in your pocket, got the quick shots, camera is really nice on a sunny day, "best for indoor flying" just watch out for obstacle, also has a level 4 wind resistance capability !! Thanks, DJI, for another easy to fly drone. 😂 Gonna get 2 of this !!
Interesting video. Thank you for all the information. It's really useful. What I'd really like to see is a comparison with the X1 Pro Max. I like some of the features of the X1 Pro Max better. But I also like some of the extras with this one better.
...good feature set! Extended batteries but staying under the 250gm. cap would be great as an option, and hopefully Master Airscrew comes up with a way to drop the pitch of the insect scream...It may only be 79db.but that pitch is nasty.
I'm a video guy, never owned a drone. I had NO IDEA you could get smooth 4K this cheap 😮 It has limitations sure, but as a first drone, I can totally see the use and value 👍
Great price - will be interesting to see how new HoverAir Pro models compare on features - does look like DJI here are catching up/copying HoverAir market proposition
Outstanding review! Looks like an amazing drone and ticks all the boxes. BUT no 'Find My' or GPS connectivity means lost drone eventually. Could you attach an AirTag to it without compromising its flight capabilities?🙏
I have a DJI spark, a few years old, you think this drone would be good as a extra drone? seems like can do more cool shots by flying it with turns and its quite good price. Just the video doesn't seem as good as the spark.
Instantly ordered it (damn you DJI). Curious though, If in follow me mode and then you stop somewhere 5 minutes later, hold out your hand.. does it know and fly over to land or you walk up to it... AI... ? Either way, will be fun. I have ALL their controllers, including the goggles, so options galore. Excellent video review - thank you.
I have the spark in the box for ages... since the 250gr limits came along. This definitely covers that need for a small little drone for casual pilots who are only searching for some quick aerial shots... How's the gimbal? 3 axis? the spark only had 2 axis which made the footage sometimes wobbly
This was an amazing video. I’m new to drones and wanted something easy enough for my daughter and I to use. Very helpful beginner information about features and what’s possible. Thanks!
Whats the max speed (kmh) with the dji rc-n3? And also, what if i only buy just the drone, not the one with controller too (because i will use mine) , i wont have active track?
How well does the tracking work if I’m walking in a crowd? Will it get confused with all the people? Or when I’m using it in a group shot, where I have a bunch of people around me?
@FlytPath - Question about the remote with the phone mount: My phone with it's case is 7" x 3.5", does that clamp/ mount (not sure what to call it) on the remote open that far? I've had trouble finding things that will hold a phone that big.
Seems perfect for photographers who want to capture some video of them during a portrait session that they can post on social media and their website. It doesn't need to be super fancy, just stable video that shows a bit of what it's like working with them.
Would be interested in watching a video from you and/or a chart on your website that lays out which DJI drone models work with which RC controllers and the newest DJI goggles. Looking on the DJI website I was frustrated to not be able to find this information, especially when using the “compare drones” part of their website. I currently own an Air 2 and would like to upgrade to a newer DJI model that works with both the goggles and one of the newer RCs that would also be compatible with the Neo, which would be a smaller second drone that I could use with both the RC and goggles, or whichever control scheme I choose. Also, if you're using just the drone on its own, and it's flying at a set distance from you, how do you get near it to hand land it? Surely it will just keep moving away from you? 🤔🤷
great in depth video--as always.. neat little 'in your pocket' drone.. one thing missing for me and you mentioned it ..there is NO microSD card slot.. with all the features that DJI put into this drone you would think they might have included it.. maybe saving it for the Neo 2.. many thanx again
Your review was excellent, optimal information density while being thorough, a rarity among reviewers! Great work!
Much appreciated!
My mom bought one kislux and she loves it. It had been there for over 10 years when she went out with it.
Ok finally a DJI drone that makes me want to get back into it.. a reasonable price with packed features
Does it have night lights?
DJIspark
Where is the comparison? The hoverair is twice the price so surely it should have a better spec. Dumb comment
The big news is the drones, bigger brothers to the HoverAir X1 will come in at $499 and $699 MSRP - more than double the price.
I love its versatility to use different controllers or none at all. Thats great. You can start basic and buy more accessories as needed
Exactly why I bought one, my first drone…
This would make a great home security camera option. I’m still waiting for the ring drone camera to come out lol. This would be better than having multiple cameras all over your property. Follow a suspicious person etc. hopefully one day they will come out with a security camera drone. I could see it now. Have it’s own docking station to charge. Have motion detector meters around your house to set off the drone to turn on and go to the area of movement etc. as I write this my ring camera notifications are popping up. It would be nice to have a drone to fly around my house to see what’s going on all in the comfort of my bed.
Great Idea ! , a bit scary and dystopian , but an interesting thought.
But great job DJi for having an improved phone remote control, and what a great drones videos, thank you!👍
Hey hey, nice thanks for the video. Is the DJI Neo compatible with the DJI RC Smart Controller (the "old" display controller from DJI Mini3)?
Clip quality looks decent for daily family/travel use.
Does it work on older models of goggles and motion controllers?
Will it work with the RC-N2 controller?
@@MiltonBetts yes
Great thanks. Think I will place my order now
@@FlytPathSo Air2 and Się 3 work on the N3 controller from NEO?
@@FlytPathDo you know what drones this NEO controller supports?
@@FlytPath Thanks for a great review! Will the Neo work with the Mini 3 Pro remote with screen?
Since it’s so lightweight, does that mean there’s no restrictions zones!?
Any chance for Goggles 2 and Dji Neo ?
The Goggles 2 are now compatible with the other O4 drone, the Avata 2 as of the most recent firmware. I’d expect it to be compatible with all O4 drones.
The goggles v2 are likely not compatible though 😢
32 or 64 GB would have been much better, 22GB? Does it have a 32GB chip that 10 GB are used for the Drone software? Does the Neo have a find your drone feature for when it crashes in tall grass or lands in a tree?
My first place to check❤❤❤
Same here. This is my go to for all drone reviews.
Same here as well
Hi, can you please tell how much distance it can go while controlling with smartphone?
1:45 SOLD!! TAKE MY MONEY!! 😅 that is so cool
might buy this drone cuz this seems so versatile and user friendly.
Unfortunately sharpness is baked in and there’s no option to adjust
@@stefpix it’s a step below their other drones. Like mentioned at the end of the video if there’s a need for higher quality, they have the mini, air and Mavic lineups. This one is for simply all around fun at an affordable price.
@@CLVlogs05so yeah you have a drone that can do ALL that yet you're left with footage that doesn't even look great. I don't even like the footage from my Mini 4 Pro compared to my Mavic 3 Pro and Inspire 2 I know this one looks fun as heck but stinks the footage is most likely junk.
@@AtortAerials heck the runcam thumb pro even looks better
If you do it in a ski slope, can it potentially start following another skier?
Would they ever have the Rc2 compatible with the Neo at some point?
Don't count on it, dji has moved on to ocusync 4
@@JohnSmith-ef8nr i just seen an update on the Rc2 which supports the neo so looks like a yes, Remember the RC2 is ocusync 4
@djchino
Yeah just seen that myself
In your video you said that with the RC3 you can have full manual control, does this mean it allowed you to do flips and loops? The official documentation says that even in manual mode you can't perform high-maneuverability actions such as Dive, Split-S, Power Loop, and Yaw-Spin.
That's what I want to know
Yes, with RC3 and the goggles, it does support full manual control and some of the special moves like the Avatar 2 but less than itself
@@MerlinRPM manual control but not full acro. It’s like manual assist. I don’t think the drone is powerful enough to allow it safely.
@MerlinRPM yes believe I've watched that same vid doing my research cheers
Dude!
Amazing review. So thorough. Great job!
@@hOttOddYfAiLz thanks
nice review... but this DJI drone is way too noisy.
Don’t get me wrong though, overall I think it’s a fantastic drone for what it is
@@wesleyp3579 Lack of an SD card will be a problem as well. Another point of failure if the on-board storage fails.
Its decent for the 1st going, but I see a Neo Pro coming very soon. I would get this before any X1 because price is at perfect spot, and image quality can be increased in post.
Nice..but we all know what we are really waiting for..in the next month or so..The Air 3S!..haha
Nah yawn Mavic 4 Pro or nothing for me. 🦾🦾🦾🦾
@@AtortAerials that’s looking like a 2025 drone tbh did you see the camera leak?
@@alexs9110 I think I did. Yeah I can see that it felt like we waited forever for the Mavic 3 Pro to finally drop was miserable waiting.
You mean the Neo2. Give it 6 months
Love it. Thank you Aldryn
Now you need to check if the RC-N3 controller also works for the Avata 2. That would be very interesting to find out.
Here we go!
Silly question. If you are using the drone without a controller, how do you get it to come back to your hand? For example, I have it set to follow at a far distance, does it have enough sensitivity to “see”: my hand sticking out for it to come back and land? If so, how far away can it be?
Not a silly question I was thinking same
They should put there at least the mini3/4 camera it would be the perfect travel drone
@@SteveBellefontaine appreciate the support
Pertama dari Bali
Will the neo work with the DJI RC Controller? ie. the controller with built in screen from the DJI mini 3 pro?
Wow the DJI Spark 2
Better 👍
...good feature set!
Extended batteries but staying under the 250gm. cap would be great as an option, and hopefully Master Airscrew comes up with a way to drop the pitch of the insect scream...It may only be 79db.but that pitch is nasty.
Camera quality feels really bad
Probably because it is! 😂
No wonder why it's cheap
@@mklsdv it’s $199
…..it’s $200 bro
If you compare video footage from this review with the one on their webpage it looks like it's from completely different device
I'm a video guy, never owned a drone.
I had NO IDEA you could get smooth 4K this cheap 😮
It has limitations sure, but as a first drone, I can totally see the use and value 👍
Great price - will be interesting to see how new HoverAir Pro models compare on features - does look like DJI here are catching up/copying HoverAir market proposition
it's not... the drone only is 169, even though the email they sent says the controller and drone are 169
Outstanding review! Looks like an amazing drone and ticks all the boxes. BUT no 'Find My' or GPS connectivity means lost drone eventually. Could you attach an AirTag to it without compromising its flight capabilities?🙏
Great question!
DO older DJI googles (4 antenna's) work with Neo? thanks very nice video...
This was an amazing video. I’m new to drones and wanted something easy enough for my daughter and I to use. Very helpful beginner information about features and what’s possible. Thanks!
@@SafLynx glad it helped.
Finally!!!....a Drone to entice me, bravo DJi and bravo Mr Flytpath for a fantastic initial review. I am SOLD!
Question. Will it work with the RC remote with Screen?
Whats the max speed (kmh) with the dji rc-n3? And also, what if i only buy just the drone, not the one with controller too (because i will use mine) , i wont have active track?
how about if there many people around you, still tracking on the user ?
How well does the tracking work if I’m walking in a crowd? Will it get confused with all the people? Or when I’m using it in a group shot, where I have a bunch of people around me?
If the drone is under the weight to avoid FAA reg. , Can you monetize the footage without having a part 107 license, or no?
@FlytPath - Question about the remote with the phone mount: My phone with it's case is 7" x 3.5", does that clamp/ mount (not sure what to call it) on the remote open that far? I've had trouble finding things that will hold a phone that big.
You really gotta give it to DJI-they are always innovating. So many features for a nifty drone and maybe I’ll get one.
Seems perfect for photographers who want to capture some video of them during a portrait session that they can post on social media and their website. It doesn't need to be super fancy, just stable video that shows a bit of what it's like working with them.
First place I came to check out the new Neo. Great video. 👍🏾
Thanks!
Thank you brother, your explanation is clear n details....i learn so much just watching you even though I've not got my Neo yet.
Thank you so much for your efforts.
