🇳🇴🇸🇪🇮🇸🇫🇮 This is similar to My Mixture 965, though milder. Latakia is a bit less pronounced, though still very present. The blend is relaxing, flavorful and not distracting.
I know this is a old post but I just purchased some Father Dempsey and I absolutely love it. Now granted I'm a new pipe smoker and this is the first Latakia but I really love the smell when opening the bag and the taste, especially when blowing the smoke out my nose. Father Dempsey is one of my favorite English blends.I find it to have a pleasant musty,leathery,sweet flavor,not the heavy smokiness many other Latakia forward blends have as Muttnchop says.

Just tried this blend yesterday in my Peterson bent brandy. I enjoy a good medium English blend, and Father Dempsey immediately made it into my permanent rotation in the top 3 blends. I agree it's a smooth smoke, which I liked. Can't believe it's available in bulk. Bought a couple more tins to cellar and will be jarring more too. This one gets 5 vampires from me. 🧛♂️🧛♂️🧛♂️🧛♂️🧛♂️
I'd give this a 4 as well. I put off trying this one for a long time. Now that I've had it, I shall definitely stock some in the cellar. Great video, right on point.👍

🐒🐒🐒🐒🦉 The 5th owl is for natural sweetness. A beautiful smoke filled with leather and honey. Goes great with a glass of water, which brings out the lingering sweetness on my palate for about an hour after I smoke

I think every single famous blend that was and is still being loved by experienced smokers have reasons enough for being so famous. Father Dempsey is not an exception. It takes time and patience to prepare one's palate to enjoy a good,famous blend for what it's worth. I have noticed that when I have been enjoying a particular blend for some time,and then switch to another new blend,I usually fail to appreciate it through the first few bowls,then I gradually start to like it and often that blend ends up being one of my favourite ones. : ( One frowney. I must have been smoking something different from all of you seeing all of the five star reviews below. This one was not good for me. It even gave me tongue bite sometimes. Tasted like ash. I bought two ounces and forced myself to smoke through all of it somehow in lots of different pipes because that's what I've committed to do on all of these blends. It never got better for me though. Yet, I'll probably re-visit it in the future.
😎😎😎😎 As I mentioned in my review of the February Blend Club blend, Dunhill’s My Mixture 965, Father Dempsey has become one of my favorite blends. As I said in that review I prefer this one and Cornel & Deihl’s Tuggle Hall to 965, and while I would rate Tuggle Hall slightly higher than Father Dempsey, I still recommend Father Dempsey very highly nonetheless - it is a fantastic English blend.
😁😁😁😁. Most English blends are too strong for me, but this one was a pleasant surprise. Like you said, the Virginia sweetened the Latakia, and the Oriental added a great deal of smoothness. This is my new favorite for smoking in my MM Legend.

🐵🐵🐵🐵🐵 This is a 5 monkeys for me. I'm a big fan of My Mixture 395. I like the Smokey and grassy vibes. Father Demsey has all that and more. Along with the Smokey camp fire and grass flavors, it adds a sweet kiss and mellow notes to the tobacoo. I love it! I like to smoke this in the morning with a bold cup of coffee right after breakfast. This has been my weekend routine for about a month now. I may take Muttenchop up on the idea of cellering a load of this and letting it sit.
😁😁😁😁 This blend is awesome. I am pretty new with English blends but this blend nailed it. To me it's smokey and spicy and I really love that. If you like My mixture 965, you will like this blend. Latakia in this blend and the other tobaccos like Virginia make this blend have the perfect balance during your smoke. To me it's A+
It sweetens to a near perfume taste to me, maybe I need to let it age for some time. But, could not get into the perfume smack from the latakia. However, would be a very nice smooth cool smoke though. Update: After several bowls and my palate getting used to the Lat, especially mid bowl this blend is great. 😎😎😎😎.5 stars

😊😊😊 I didn't know what to expect from this blend but i was very surprised. It was smooth and perfectly balanced. Definitely an all day smoke. I did what you suggested: smoked it in the morning with a cup of coffee. So enjoyable! Though it was a great smoke, it didn't "pop" for me either. I will enjoy the rest of my sample but I feel there are others out there that can compete or beat this for a great morning smoke. This is why I gave it a 3. However, I jarred the rest and will look to buy more to see how age affects this blend. If it does what you say, then this will definitely jump to a 4/5. Another great video muttnchop!

I do not favor a Latakia that's up in your face so I would agree with you that the Virginia sweetens the Lat, which is my preference. The orientals do smooth out the blend and kind of reign in the Latakia again making for a cool smoke. I enjoyed this blend very much and will take your advice and cellar a lb of this for smoking enjoyment over the years. Good to see you!

:):) Found it very strong and made my lips feel numb. I will let it sit for a while, was hard to keep lit. That can be fixed. May not have the pallet for it yet. I may have to find the right pipe for it. I have found some blends smoke better in different pipes.

Looking Sharp Chop, great review. I didn't like Father Dempsey the first time I tried it, but I tried it again a few months later and really loved it. Funny how tastes differ and develop over time.
🤔🤔🤔 i am a big fan of all these components but I would like aged Virginia to sweeten this up a bit. It’s not really a great latikia smoke or a great oriental smoke. It is a middle of the road for me. I did like it but to me it’s rather bland.

Adding to the mystery before me, I had no idea what to expect from an English blend. I decided to try Father Dempsey figuring that, in the final analysis, one blend was as good as another as a starting point. I was shocked at how smooth and, well, "soft" the Father Dempsey blend was when smoked. Father Dempsey reminds me of camping with my father when I was a boy. Father Dempsey has set the bar really high for English blends for me.
