He was my favorite Mavs player on NBA Live 2003. It was easy to make 3pt with him

This man is like the predecessor to the IT that we saw when he was averaging 29 in Boston. They literally dribble the same(especially the hesitation dribble) and have similar finishing moves

he is actually my favorite Mavs player at the time, yes, more favorite than Dirk, Nash, or Finley. He was just so fearless.

As a Mav fan this was the most insane playoff performance by anyone besides Dirk in 2006 and 2011, Van Exel turned into a god against the Kings.

He owned the Queens in the playoffs. Also owned Gary Payton as a Laker. Hall of Famer in my book

He wears # 31, high socks, same position and role just like Jason Terry.

Remember the 2002-2003 Mavs had a lineup of death
    PG: Steve Nash
    SG: Nick Van Exel
    SF: Michael Finley
    PF: Dirk
    C: Raef LaFrentz
The Mavs should have kept him after the '02-'03 season. He could have filled the void Nash left when he signed with the Suns (Summer of 2004).

Got to meet him at the Forum. Cool guy. I’ve been a fan ever since. Probably the last truly great Laker point guard. And he went koo koo for Cocoa Puffs as a Maverick in the playoffs. One of the most underrated careers in NBA history.

Its so funny cause growing up as a little kid, especially before Steve Nash dissappeared and Nick took over for that mavs team in the playoffs, i thought nick van exel was as skilled as anyone but i thought his bad shot selection made him overrated, but nowadays im constantly telling my younger brother and cousins and their friends about how UNDERRATED he is. Anyone who saw him knows so perhaps underrated isnt the word but whenever i hear Kyrie is unquestionably the greatest ballhandler/most skilled player of all time I'm like go look at what Nick Van Exel was able to do, and how even the handcheck didnt affect him. And how in control he was of the ball at such a small size. Kyrie is as good as anyone for sure but when you go back and watch guys like Nick, Tim Hardaway, Mahmoud, Mookie Blaylock and Dana Barros, they were all on that Kyrie, Jamal Crawford level as ballhandlers. The thing that makes Kyrie, Jamal and Tricky Nicky a cut above for me is the fact that they play with the sort of creativity that used to really only come out of the truly elite playmakers like Mark Price, Mark Jackson and pothead point guard savants Jason Williams. But Jamal, Kyrie and Nick do it at such elite level with Nick doing it during the most restrictive reffing for ballhandlers since the 70s.

People forget how GREAT Nick was in this 2 year stint with Dallas. To me, he was in his ideal role during that stretch, as an unstoppable scorer off the bench. He was Lou Williams before Lou Williams.
