Steve Nash BEST Highlights with the Mavs (1998-2004) - OFFENSIVE MAGICIAN

  • My favorite point guard (not including Luka lol) to ever play for the Mavs. Not only was Nash an elite shooter and passer, but he was also a crafty finisher at the rim. He should've never left Dallas and even to this day, Mark Cuban would admit that decision was his biggest mistake.

    Dirk, Finley, and Nash should have won a championship together and really just needed a couple of pieces. Nash were just what Dallas needed after Kidd departure. When we had that trio that was the most exciting basketball Dallas had witnessed in a long time.

    The shiftiness, the change of direction, the mental dominance, the floaters, the scoop shots, the fadeaways, the body control... no one can do it quite like he did it. Everyone knows it was frustrating for opponents getting dominated by athletes like Jordan and Kobe, but there had to be a unique sort of demoralization that came from not being able to stop this short, slow dude with the flowing hair.

    I'll never understand why Camera quality was actually worse for a couple years in the early 2000s, than it was in the 90s, before ultimately getting drastically better by like '03-04

      in the early days of digital filming and lcds, film was superior, and some of the tube tvs were just as good as panasonic and sony lcds. some of what you say may be because the film has been digitised, transfered to computer, etc.

      Transition pains from peak analog technology to early digital technology. The music industry has this same issue in the 80s because all the early digital recorders were 16-bit (CD quality). Stanley Kubrick's 1968 film 2001 Space Odyssey shot on 70mm is higher res than 4k digital. Best we can hope for is A.I. tools to fix these low fidelity transition periods... *sigh*

      There's also the context of Nash having prolific back issues when he was let go.

    There's some dumb overdribbling in these clips that he got away with do to his ridiculous penetrating handle and flip no look finishes . In general he was a penetrate and pitch guy . Elbow jumpers and fallaways were deadly . Efg % was high. What this doesn't show is he actually didn't shoot more than 12 shots perg. In fact in only 2 seasons did he shoot more than 13 perg. Much better in transition than 1/2 court game. Ambidextrous dribbles changes of pace reverse turnarounds 50 90 40 10 assists and 3 to 1 assist to turnover ratio. Incredible balance used to love his penetrating to baseline and tip toeing it till a cutter appeared . Sometimes he'd cycle through and just come back out to reset frustrated defenders. Still he over dribbled and had playoff troubles because it's more 1/2 court. Circus performer like a unicyclist

    • @krisharkleroad8
      @krisharkleroad8 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They call it Nashting now. Probing the defense. Not over dribbling if you end up getting bucket. You are correct about his shooting. He was so efficient he should have shot 20 times a game, including a ton more three's. Partly coaches fault. They didn't have the metrics back. He'd play like Curry today. He'd probably average 25 and 12.
