Hadn't heard the THX intro in a while. Just purchased the Indiana Jones collection last night and decided to give Raiders a quick watch. Without realizing what I had done, I had the volume quite loud. Needless to say, the THQ sound-fare made my room feel like a small earthquake -- pretty sure the neighbors heard it, too.

What HT do you have? There is a list of the different type of sounds that the equipment actually support in the box, even in the system itself, so, you can just know it by simple reading your inst. manual ;)

You can use any speaker. THX is just a testing process that a speaker goes through to certify them that they can produce sound like it was mastered in the studio. Most speakers would pass, some cheep speakers might loose some frequencies depending what the source material is.

Are the subs magnetically shielded? If no, you should have them so close to your equipment/tv.
