How to Record Wii Gameplay onto VHS Tapes

I came across this somewhat randomly but I'm glad I did! I find it so amazing that some people are still actively using VCRs in 2022/23, its such a nostalgic medium for me for recording gameplay. Before the days of TH-cam I used to record Super Nintendo and Playstation 2 footage onto tapes, just for fun!
Once TH-cam became a thing and I started making videos, I briefly switched over to a DVD recorder before a HD capture card. Regardless finding this video was a joy.

I remember accidentally doing this because we always plugged our wii in through our vcr. We were watching a home video the day before. Luckily it wasn’t rewound yet.

How did you only discover it a couple of days ago? I've recorded several days worth of gameplay footage onto several VHS tapes in SLP mode. I wish I still had them so I could convert it to DVD, but I don't have a combo player and I don't have the tapes anymore.

Hey I have a problem. On my vcr there is no L-1 or anything. Its just channels 2 -73. I cant get my wii to show up through the vcr either. Does the vhs tape need to be brand new?

Its a good thing I have a TV/VCR combo. I just have no VHS to record on 😅😅

I have a smart tv box, it’s called united tv for iptv do I still need the HDMI connected to tv ? Or just the AV cables ?

On my VCR, I tried going up on the channels all the way, and there is no L-1…any help?

Some VCRs label it as "Line 1", there should be an L2 or some sort of input channel.

The one in this video is a JVC DR-MV1 (VCR/DVD combo), mine doesn't work anymore but I have plenty of other machines. 🙂
