@@MarMonooo not exactly figure out, but I was planning on trying it with scart today lol, technically you'd just need a HDMI to Scart adapter, so it SHOULD work... Just respond to this so I remember to tell you whether it worked or not lol
@@MarMonooo okay so, recording with Scart IS possible, but things I have noticed on my end: you still need composite cables for audio, AND for some reason the recording comes out in B&W despite the picture being color during the recording
If I already have an HDMI to Analog converter for my Roku player, to play on my analog tv do I still need another scaler? I'm assuming I do since I need to connect my laptop to my tv to then record Netflix to my VHS player. Right now I have no luck at all.
So most rca to hdmi converters already rescale your image. If it looks correct on your screen then you should be good to go! The converter I use in this video rescales my input to the correct format. If it looks off then I'd suggest getting something that can scale it or I'd recommend rescaling the video through a video editing software. 😃
Great video and helped me a lot. But when I connect everything the image on VCR starts moving constantly, do you have any advice? I'm using settopbox with USB, and I already changed resolution to 576i. 480i is way worse, it's moving fast as hell.
Mine won’t work I’ve tried everything I just gave up. Idk do I need an older tv for the input cause I have it set to AV all I get is a blue screen no matter what I do.
I have one problem i recoded videos from pc to vai vlc media player thru streaming video but the problem is vcr don’t record audio from hdmi or pc audio card audio out any tips or solutions

Look into what settings may be blocking this internally on your ps5 display settings. May be as simple as turning of sonys protection setting that disables recording through things like an elgato.
Tried it, everything go as planned besides the actual recording, I press record and doesn’t record anything but lines and some part of the audio, I tried to record some TH-cam on it
You can overwrite the tape but the quality will be much more degraded. Also the audio will pop through and even the previously recorded video will have a chance of popping up. :)

@@tapevaultstudiosI hooked it up just as you described, nothing on the screen flipped through L1, L2 and the rest of the channels. Nothing, I checked the converter box same one as the video describes (everything plugged in)
@@rx9171 So first go through the set up again to double check in/out routes. Then for safe measure make sure the converter is powered through usb. Like I said there are a ton of different VCR models so mess around with your device to see if that is the issue. If there is no signal from the media player you have plugged in I'd do some research on if that player has hmdi output blocking to prevent external capture. PS4’s and PS5’s have a setting that can prevent capture through external devices like that so that's something to keep in mind. Run some more tests and lmk what you find. :)
it’s a physical release, unlike a digital read dvd. VHS is a physical tape and dvd is an encrypted code. VHS might not look great but it’s a physical version of a digital thing.
Excellent presentation and easy to follow instructions. Thank you for posting this. I look forward to future VHS making videos!
Thank you so much for kind words! There’s a lot of VHS related videos in the works. 😊

Hey I used the link you gave to the HDMI2AV converter but it links to an AV2HDMI converter. I bought the wrong device because of this. 😑
can you record copy protection and bootleg dads on to a blank vhs using the way you record?
how does this work if you have a crt with a VHS player built in?
Can you use RF cables for this? Like a hdmi to RF modulator? I think rf is technically better than composite?
It can be done but the video quality will diminish.
I always just balled up a small piece of paper taped into the tab space.
I would love to do this but my problem is my 2 vcrs are RF only. What should I do?
