    What about ticks? Do you have to do anything special when going hiking? Last time we were in Tennessee my husband was covered in them (but he went off trail). We are thinking about moving to the mountain city area in the next year.

    I've lived in South FL for 40 yrs. I'm getting forced out of my home here with the rising insurance rates as I'm on a fixed income. Thinking about relocating to your area. Been hearing that it's tough to find a place to rent as I want to figure out exactly where I'd like to settle & buy a home. Is this true?

    How much do bears affect your hiking or come into your yard? The internet shows large bear populations in eastern Tennessee.

    • @tiffanywattsrealestateagent
      @tiffanywattsrealestateagent  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've personally not had a bear encounter while hiking...but that's just luck. And as far as seeing them in my yard...that will depend on where people's homes are located. Most of the bears hang near the mountains/highly forester areas. Because I'm like a 25 minute drive to the base of the nearest mountain...I never see any bears near my house.

    Grew up there, had to leave. The area is absolutely beautiful but the people are so religious it negatively affects eveything from medicine to education to the restaurant choices and jobs available. Not a tolerant area. Too conservative for the average person. Johnson City is better than some of the other towns in the region because it is slightly more secular. But you can do better. If you're randomly picking a palce to live in East Tennesee I recommend Knoxvile. The area doesn't deserve to thrive if it can't welcome all races, genders, orientations, and beliefs. If you're into bigotry and closed mindedness, enjoy! That's my view of the area. Some of the people are lovely and friendly and accepting but they are way out numbered. Live and let live.
