THE TAVERN
It was a chilling rainy night, thunder and rain filled the air and left a poignant smell on the land. My bones chilled as I pulled my wool cloak tighter against myself. It had been hours and hours of my travel through the rainy night, till suddenly, I spot the light in a distance. Getting closer, I notice that it's a tavern. I opened the heavy wooden door to " The Rusty Blade" and was instantly greeted by a warm gust of air that warmed to the core from the open-hearth fires dotted around the cozy little tavern. The entire main room smells of pine, leather, fire smoke, and freshly baked bread. There were at least forty other folks laughing, scoffing down bread and slurping from their cups. Just like me, they had completely forgotten about the chilling weather that had plagued them moments ago. After I got some rest, I took a bird quill, Parchment and started writing… “Dear Anabel, Let me not be blamed for the script, for the ink is bad, and the vellum defective, and the day is dark. I'm writing to you from the fairest tavern that has come upon my travels. My feet are freezing cold and my arms are starting to fall asleep on their own, but I thank God that I have found time to write to you and the children. Tell little Hilda that I'm proud of the young lady she is becoming and Harry the young man he is becoming. I want to embrace you with all my heart my beautiful wife but must finish my quest. Make sure Harry keeps practicing archery every day. Hope to see all of you in five months. Sincerely, your husband Nathaniel”
