Great videos, the carb needle valve was what I expected, but needed a pro's assurance. Mines a rider mower, but is doing almost exactly what your diagnostic video said. Thanks, now I won't be wasting my time fixing the carb.
Buddy 100% right on! I didn't have the new ring to insert into the carb but gave it a good cleaning and blew out the orfice holes and carb with air. I primed it a few times when it started the sound of the motor revved up and ran about 40 min straight till I was done. Cheers !

thanks, you make it look so easy that I am going to try it on my mower that I just bought at a garage sale. it did start right up so who knew there was a problem, until I had it home and started to mow. just like the video it keep stalling out. Wish me luck.
I've "fixed" my 25 year old B&S 4 times/yr. It exploded on me a few days ago. The flywheel cover blew off including bolts I put on to firm it up plus I put steel plates underneath on a rotten frame below plus on flywheel cover. I just could fool with it anymore! I rolled it under a bench to tackle later using #4 wire. And within 20 minutes I bought a POWERMORE 132CC (B&S) engine at a sale price of $221.00, $241.00 with taxes at home hardware. I did my lawn and brother's then put it in basement over winter. No more fixes for me! I have a great old B&S I use often. I'm a dyi'er and avid youtuber, but the explosion was too much for me. I couldn't do it anymore psychoically. I bought new. I was kinda ashamed, but that didn't last long. Hope this new lawnmower gives me many long years!!! FYI.

I'm no expert on carburetors, but it seems easy enough to see the float can't fully move. My question is where do you find a new seat? Are they the same for all carbs, or do you have to know the specific engine #?
i have not been able to find a specific part number for the seat and they are not all the same. I just buy a variety of them and hope and pray that one will work. thanks for the comment I appreciate it.

Thanks for the comment. Next time try leaving the gas cap loose and see if it makes a difference. If it's not venting air properly it will eventually starve the carb of gas .
@@phillipvansickle4220I rebuilt the carburetor, looked at the bowl and it was squeaky clean, it pays to use Non - Ethanol gas. But it ended up being the "Ignition Coil" all the time.
I'm kind of puzzled because mine didn't have the Rubber seal to change so instead of trying to keep guessing on what's making it shut down after a minute. I just simply replace the carburetor to a brand new one and guess what it's still does the same thing you have any other advice on all the other things I should check to rectify what's going on here it's a really nice mower so I hate to Just Junk it please get back to me or PM me anytime you wish to thank you again for reading this and have a blessed day
So our lawnmower handle broke. We received the replacement upper and lower handle. Followed the instructions to the tee. Now it cuts off. We check air filter, and all other parts; but it keeps cutting off. Have you experienced this yet? Any suggestions?
i purchased a briggs n straton rebuild kit but the needle seat hole that the needle sits on was just as small as the original seat that you threw away? the guy told me that it would fit i am not sure why but the float is even sitting higher than it was before, i guess i should order another needle seat, its too late to try the lawnmore tonight but i will give it a shot tomorrow, i have my doubts about it fixing the problem though after seeing how big your hole was and how low your float was sitting. i saw the 4 different part numbers . you gave the other guy do you remember witch one you used? i would hate to purchase another one with the same problem?
Thank you for the comment Christopher Zorthian. Yes sometimes the seats are different sizes. If the float is not level level it won't allow fuel to enter the carb. Honestly it's easier and safer to order the a new carb.
No one has anything about this seat in other videos. I'm going to check this out. I am stumped because I get my mower running from three to five minutes (10 the last time) then it dies and won't start. I've covered all the basic new filter, spark plug, etc.
@@HomeGaragechannel No it looks fine. My model is Toro 20332. Looks like a simple cap. I've ordered a new carburator. Went that route because the gaskets need to be replaced. Didn't get much service. Mowers about 9 years old. It didn't get good maintenance because I didn't understand mowers. Honestly, it's a miracle it ran this long. I'm learning. Should get it by Friday. I'll check the float when I remove the old one, I'll let you know if it runs.
What would you say about engine smoke? When I got it, it seemed like it had 2 qts. of oil in it. I drained it and it was very full! I added 18 oz. of Briggs specified 10W. It still smokes a little. Will it burn off? Thought about Sea Foam, but I know that to burn out the spark plug and make for harder starts. Thanks y'all. Hope it's not a head gasket. I'll tighten those bolts.
Thank you Nr. Gibbons for the comment. 2 qts is a lot gas. Some would have gotten into the muffler and pretty much everywhere else too. I'm sure it will go away.
at 3:09 there is a long spring in about center picture. What is that? I found a spring like that loose but I don't know where it goes or what it is. Do I need to remove a large cover to access where it goes?
The spring on the left is the return spring for the auto choke. The spring to the right controls the engine speed. Yes the plastic cover has to come off to see these 2 springs.
knighthawk86855. Good eye. Yes there is a slight vibration in the mower. The blade has a gouge in the edge that will be taken care of. Thanks for the comment and the watch.
Thank you Mr. Gibbson for the comment. Crack the gas cap loose next time and try using it. 10 minutes is long enough for a gas cap that may not be venting air properly.
Ihave a Honda Harmony it do the same like you mow for 3 minunues then stallin I clean the carbutator but doing the same .Can you tell me what the problem is. Thank
Thank you Gil79 chonche for the comment. Try to rule out the gas cap by having it cracked loose. It could also be the fuel shut off valve isn't open all the way or its somehow restricting fuel flow. Maybe consider bypassing it? The last thing it could be is the ignition coil. My first ever harmony would shut off after 2 or 3 passes and wouldn't start up . Replaced the coil and it fixed it. Sorry to say there are a few reasons for this problem so I had to list them.
i'm working on one now it's kicking my A**. two carbs rebuilt and one new one and still no gas going into engine. 3 prime bulbs replaced. no gas leaks from tank or hoses. nothing works.

It sounds like I wouldn't need half of the tool that Taryl & Donyboy73 has got to replace the needle seat inside the carburettor. I think they both use a Tecumseh needle seat installation tool !

Gotcha. Unless you want to replace needle sear like what did in this video a replacement carburetor is not very expensive. The fuel restriction must be happening there.

Yes sometimes it doesn't completely work so I would suggest replacing the carb.

I had a problem with a similar motor on a generator. It turned out that the gas cap wasn't venting properly...

Sure try replacing the gas cap. If the vent isn't work well enough it will cause the engine to stop a after a few minutes.
Also, check the price of getting a brand new carb off amazon. Sometimes they are worth fixing and sometimes they are $13 on amazon like mine is lol

My Toro Timemaster will run for awhile then quit. I can loosen the gas cap and then tighten it and it will start right up.
Yes it appears your vent in the cap is not working like it should.

try using some compressed air in the fuel line to make sure the fuel line and the tank's filter is clear

I think i figured out the problem. thx to cheap Chinese carbs, side Air hole not aligning with air hole in the gasket.

no you can't use an O ring, you must order the seat, from the internet.
I think you forgot the gasket before putting filter housing on.

Can't you just drill out the old seat ?
its made of soft rubber material, you can use a drill bit buy your use hands to apply a quarter turn and it should grab it.
