  • Bees are vital to our ecosystem, yet in urban environments, they are often feared and exterminated. This documentary explores the misunderstood world of the giant Asian honeybee, Apis dorsata, and its struggle for survival in India's high-rise cities.
Following the journey of a researcher in Bangalore, this documentary delves into the complex relationship between bees and humans. From beehives thriving on apartment balconies to the devastating effects of pollution, pesticides, and urbanization, the film reveals how these wild bees are adapting-and suffering-within human-dominated landscapes. With insights from scientists, conservationists, and local communities, it sheds light on the vital role of bees in pollination, food security, and biodiversity. As we witness their migration from cityscapes to sacred forests, the documentary raises urgent questions: Can we learn to coexist with these essential pollinators? What happens if they disappear? A compelling story of survival, adaptation, and the delicate balance of nature.

It makes me so mad when my homeowners association sprays poison for wasps, and you see it kills all the beneficial bees and bugs. They care NOTHING about anything around them, and it is truly pathetic and evil. Makes me sad to be human.

I'm planting bee balm and lavender seeds this spring, and many more pollinator plants, so hopefully that helps. I already get honeybees on my patio during summer without anything planted.🪴
