7:24 this is really the best analogy to the relationship of most kids and adults in the real world. Adults trying to teach kids in the best way they can how life works, and kids saying "but why cant I just figure it out on my own?", not knowing how horrific life can be if you make one mistake. Thats one of the reasons I like this game.

Motherhood in this game can sometimes be so amazing. Two years ago I was exploring far out from my village and I had a child in the middle of it. While caring for my child, I found an abandoned baby in the middle of nowhere that had been discarded from another village and I took her in as if she was my own. Brought both of them back home and raised them (they were both new players) and on my death bed they stayed with me for my last moments. I was later born into that same village and discovered that they had buried me in front of a tree and left bundles of flowers near my grave. This might be one of the most fond memories I have of playing an online video game :')

I love this game. I saw some article describe it as "The game that broke my heart and restored my faith in humanity". The game is EXTREMELY difficult and punishing so it makes it imperative for all players to prioritize cooperation. Everyone Ive met in the game is so genuinely nice and friendly. I just wish more people played it.

The fact that Kevin's mom was literally so patient and kind enough to help him learn the game was so endearing. Also if you think about it, she spent her entire youth teaching Kevin. Which kinda brought a tear to my eye because it's usually the same case with our parents.

genuinely love the little story of Kevin's character in this. she started so unsure abt the world but with her mom to guide her she felt like everything was gonna be ok, but when her mom died everything became unclear again. she had to move on and only when she had her own successful life as a grave digger did she see her mom again. she died with her reincarnated mom by her side. really sweet, what an interesting game
It's even better that she made mistakes with parenting and Kevin's child didn't meet Kevin half-way, so Kevin did his best to try and contribute to those around him that helped him, becoming the kind of individual his mother would be proud of even if in a different way than expected.
I legit wanna play this game now in the hopes I can experience what it’s like to have a supportive mother as an infant/child. Would be nice… Cuz that definitely did not happen in my real like.

It's almost surreal how not only the community was so friendly and helpful, but also how Kevin genuinely wanted to help and actively avoided causing problems.
Kevin is a force of chaos but I think that's balanced by him being a genuinely good guy and knowing when to just do his best in his own way.

Months ago, I woke up one night at 3am because my anxiety was really bad, and I couldn’t get back to sleep. I opened TH-cam and this video came up, and watching it made me feel so much better. I watch it whenever I’m feeling stressed out, and something about the kindness between strangers - strangers who don’t owe one another anything - going out of their way to make other people happy/have a better experience with something brings me SO much comfort
Man, I remember when I first played this game, I ended up with a small tribe that was just starting out. At some point I killed a wolf and wore it as a hat and when new players started showing up I became 'wolf grandma, keeper of the bread'. I spent the rest of that run teaching the new folks how to cook, hence the name. Good times.

After watching this video, I bought this game and went to play. My mom was 100% like this person lol. She taught me how to take care of the plants, said "yay!!" after every thing I did successfully and even said "It happens" at times. Could have been the same person, what are the chances. When it was just about her time, she searched for me and said goodbye. It was beautiful. This game made me legitimately happy lmao

@@tabushka292 Yeah I played a lot and usually your mom will ask you if you're a new player. If you are (I said yes a few times because I was confused) they will try to teach you like Kevin's mom did for him. If you say no, they stick around until you can eat by yourself and tell you "good luck!"
Also from my experience, going out to explore doesn't seem to be the norm in this game. Maybe a player here and there will leave, but for the most part people stick around the house and do farming and cooking.

I lucked out and got a similar mother when i first started playing, it was great. The game is really good at making you want to care for other players
First time I played this game I was basically told fuck you by my mother. I died many times before having fun in the game and actually learning from other players.

Kevin's mom is my favorite kind of player. The one who hangs around the starting area and helps new players. I'm a jealous man though, and always try to claim their knowledge for myself and I make them take me on adventures so they're too busy to help other people.
The relationship between Kevin and Mom is surprisingly wholesome. Mom deserves a medal, she's more supportive than some IRL parents
I think that's part of the draw to this game. There are some great nurturing moms in the game, and some people don't have that in real life. Of course you could also get a mom who throws you to a bear, or abandons you in the wild. You never know what you'll get when you log in. I once had a party mom, who drank wine all the time, had baby dance parties in the nursery, and was very fun-loving and jovial. All of her kids celebrated at her gravesite with her as she passed, and we carved "Mother" on her gravestone and drank wine in her honor. Lots of different stories come out of this game.

This game made me very happy. Making players reliant on each other to learn the game is one of the best models I think anyone could design. It teaches responsibility and a dedication to helping those in need without the pressure of corrupt motivation systems. Kevin's mom genuinely wanted to help him, and wanted him to go explore so he could come to love the same game that she did. That's so insanely heartwarming and wonderful to see, albeit rare in this day and age. I almost cried when she died and came back to find him again.

It's almost strange seeing Kevin trying to play right, patiently listening, and following another player. This 'best daughter' arc is really interesting.
As someone who plays this game I am sooooo glad he is playing this way. It is so horrible when a TH-camr, who is a bit of a trouble maker, makes a video. The influx of newbs we get is so hard to deal with when they don’t even try to learn the game and just muck about trying to kill people or just roleplaying…it is so painful. Keeping a family going for more than a few dozen generations is actually really hard and takes a lot of coordination across families and across generations. The tech tree in this game is pretty extensive and necessary for long term survival.

Its an interesting psychological phenomenon that Ibxtoycat kinda explored in his minecraft realm experiment videos, that people basically have to be forced to work together to survive if there is a derived or implied punishment or detriment for not cooperating. People will grief and destroy are just putz around doing nothing until they are punished or their security is threatened.
It is a general trend that multiplayer survival games like minecraft or rust often have large bands of 'clans' that work together under some sort of leadership doing tasks in order to survive/thrive/triumph over odds or other people. It's fascinating, really. Here Kevin, who usually operates as a chaotic agent destroying these connections, has to learn the game from other players, like mom, because the extenuating circumstances of the game essentially force him to, or he'll perish. Kind of like real life.
Kevin's mom was adorable how she just agreed with everything and was always so proud of Kevin, I especially liked when she laughed at Kevin saying he hates blong (his son)

I know Kevin often plays to make himself happy and forget the usual norms, but it was so wholesome to watch him interact and mimic the mother player to try to make her happy. He respected them and how they enjoy playing the game, and that meant interacting with others and helping the community.
I don't know, just felt like we saw a softer side of Kevin. It was really sweet.
It really was sweet! And plus I feel like it's fine to terrorize NPCs lmfao but it's a bit different when it's real people and super nice ones at that. The game seems to focus heavily on like building up a community and farm like how people do on Minecraft or a Havest game; people who play those games I think tend to be more cooperative and less "troll"y. I think trolls would lose interest in this niche game fast. But yeah I hope everyone playing this wholesome game enjoys their experience.

@@krazyxki You'd be surprised how persistent trolls can be in this game and its free version, 2 Hours 1 Life. They typically grief more advanced colonies, the kinds with planes, shops, and individual housing. Luckily, they are few and far in between. Usually cursing them (a literal in-game function) is a good deterrant though.
I love how much joy Kevin was getting out of just... being Alexa, and loving his mom. Very wholesome, and so nice to see Kevin wanting to be good and trying to improve for his mom.

I have seen others play this game and it is fecking brutal. He porbably looked into the game a bit and realised he couldnt feck around too much. GrayStillPlays often fecks around like kevin(maybe more) and even he took it serious.

That was legit one of the most fulfilling experiences of gameplay I've ever seen. My God that person was so kind. And the reoleplay ended up being so meaningful. Loved it.
I have seen many nice players over there. It seems that's where they all go to. (There's still toxic people, but you do get many kind players there).
You can also play for free in 2 hours one life (it's longer).

Years later I can still remember that one life my whole village was murdered when I was a child and my uncle sacrificed himself to save me. I had to rebuild an entire town by myself and told all my kids our tale of victory and survival. By the end of that hour I honestly felt like I'd lived a whole life for real😅

I was really anxious Kevin would actually run around trolling the colony but I'm glad to see he made an effort to try and learn and help out. Warm feels for helpful Mom.
Kevin's pretty good at reading the 'room'. I think he pretty quickly got the vibe of the game and hammed it up within the acceptable level for the other players. While Kevin does enjoy a good troll, he also isn't the malicious sort to ruin things for others.

I don’t know about you guys but i think this game is pretty scary as it shows our whole life in only one hour from being educated by your mother to educate your son and watching how the mother and yourself getting older and older with time and you know that you can do nothing about it.
i think now i am appreciate my time much batter than before.

This is probably the most interesting concept for a video game I ever seen, I hope it goes on sale, I plan to give it a go.
Kevin is well know to behave rationally and calmly when under pressure/around others, so I expect this to be a very normal video.
This was so wholesome! The mum player was so kind, it actually got me quite emotional knowing there was someone out there just playing to cook some food and make clothes and teach other players. Just a lovely soul who wanted to make the experience good for others, and then when she came back and was there at the end I was actually tearing up?! But in true Kevin fashion I was laughing the whole way through too - what a brilliant video :')
At 33:22 his mom got reincarnated and was trying to speak to him and he called her "ugly baby" 😂

I didn’t notice this until I saw someone point it out in the comments (can’t remember the name but props to them!!), but one of the babies that Kevin called ugly was actually his reincarnated mom!!! After he says it you can see her in the background spelling out (since babies can only speak one letter at a time) the words “ALEXA MOM”, but Kevin didn’t notice so she just had to wait until she was old enough to talk properly to reunite with her best daughter 🥹😭 Even though this so-called “best daughter” had the AUDACITY to call her an “ugly baby” 🤣💀💀

Is it just me or this particular Kevin's video is very relaxing to watch? No crazy editing, wholesome mom-kevin interaction, and some funny moments here and there. Kevin seems a lot calmer too. I love this particular gameplay a lot.

This game is pretty calming so that does help. Just very tedious cuz you have to remember how to do all the combinations of clicks, tools, and object interactions. It's all very specific and confusing. A lovely game and community though.

We get most of the gameplay completely unfiltered here when you think about it. One hour condensed to 44 minutes. He really gave us the full experience.
It's very streaming-style, and I love it. It reminds me of the old Twitch days - just hanging out playing some games.
It's funny, Keven as a new player was born to someone who was able to help him through the game and more importantly willing to help him. Meanwhile Kevin's child an experienced player was born a new player (Keven) who would have been lost at trying to help someone else. Even Kevin's mom reincarnated to the same world and was able to help at the end of Kevin's time.
It was so perfect.

I felt like I just watched a movie, so many moments and emotions in this gameplay.
That was surprisingly nice seeing how the mom was. Whoever that person was, it's really cool of them to take the time and effort to actually help teach some mechanics like that and engage him on playing up their character. Made it actually feel sad when they died, but really crazy that they happened to come back in their next life, too
I love how his mom's job is making food and clothes, so that's what she teaches him. I imagine that this way you can learn different jobs as you continue to play.

The interactions between Kevin and his mom were so wholesome. I love it.
It's so telling of someone's character when they go blindly into a new online game and meet another quality person. Kevin is genuinely kind when playing even a short time with strangers and Mama was too. A rare find. Add the comedy, plus that accent, and my boy Kev is just the best, without being obnoxious. The Mom is totally the main character. Comedy gold. The glimpse into Kevin as a father was great. Thank you for being kind to someone in game. It's nice to see. Been watching your content for years and I really enjoy it. This so wholesome and makes my heart feel warm and fuzzy. It's a nice change. I'm also an avid viewer of all Sims stuff. Please play more Sims 4 with Jim and Turg and Default please. Nobody tortures like you, Jim.

It’s nice seeing Kevin playing kinda sensibly for once. It’s fun seeing him mess around and be silly but it’s a nice change to see him actually put a bit of effort into doing well in the game. It seemed like he actually cared about surviving and doing the game right and it was nice to see that enthusiasm in him.

I just wanted to mention how beautiful this game is, one game you are a farmer, the next you have to execute your brother for killing all of the food, and the next you are a chef. There are some points I have genuinely cried playing this game
Having been obsessed with this game for a solid 6 months at one point, it's really nice to see Kevin exploring all of the different systems in the game. In fact I'm wondering if he got such a good mother BECAUSE he's a new player, I remember the developer working on a system that gives players invisible points based on how well their children survived. Something like that could also be used to give new players good players as a parent to make sure they can survive well in the game.
Giving an actual point incentive would kinda spoil the experiment, ya know what I mean?
@@shawnmurphy9245 To my understanding the points were never shown to the players, though I would have to read through some old dev logs to be sure. It was supposed to be something like mmr in competitive games, but instead to make sure people who knew what they were doing were the ones who founded families, for example, given how difficult founding can be. I don't actually know if the feature was kept to present, but the dev logs are really fascinating to read through for stuff like that.

Humans ask these same questions and we don’t have that good of answers outside of religious theories or nothing at all. I hate that we can’t stay in touch with those we lose, but I guess that’s life, right? That moment kinda put some things into perspective for me and thought I’d reflect in a comment.
