    The original SW388 & Regamaster were both made by Desmond in Russia. The new versions are both manufactured by Taneisya in Japan but don’t have any relation to each other, other than that. The new SW388 is commissioned by Spoon and the new Desmond Regamaster name was bought by ICB Motorsports and commissioned by them. That’s why the new SW388 and new EvoII have different designs-they just happen to be made in the same place in Japan.

    • @barnfind124
      @barnfind124 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Chris I’m going to ask because I know you know the answer. What’s the differences between the og Evo and the evo 2? I notice the lips and possibly the spokes are different widths.

    • @ChrisLumNSX
      @ChrisLumNSX 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@barnfind124 yes the sizes and offsets offered are different. I don’t know all the various differences though. One of the bigger design differences has to do with the “slots” or valleys on the sides of the spokes. Also now, ICB seems to have released an Evo II “tarmac” model which incorporates the flatter lip that some OG’s had. (The OG had both style lips also but I think which lip you got depended on the diameter or model). But other than minor design changes I’d say the biggest difference is that the EVO II should be a lot stronger than the old ones due to modern manufacturing techniques. All the OG are very old these days and they have a tendency to develop a crack on the inside lip of the barrel.

    • @barnfind124
      @barnfind124 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ChrisLumNSX yeah all those points make sense and I agree. The og wheels imo are noticeably better looking I think. The new sw388 are definitely different looking from any view compared to the og sw388s. Appreciate the comment back.

    I’m estimating that on a 205 you may only need to run -3 camber in the front with the 7.5 width. Which is the most I would personally go. You also need to remember that most of the little Honda bro’s are removing the front liners because they don’t care. I say DO NOT remove the liner or you’ll have more gravel in the jambs than what you want. Other option is to remold the liners by heating them up and pressing in on the rub areas.

    3-4 degrees negative in the front is actually perfect for a FWD track setup. Will be less likely to roll onto the sidewall/edge and push the front end through a corner. I like the sw388 wheels on the car. But am still partial to the CE28's.... also a set of Bronze or Formula Silver OG tE37s would look amazing.

    Spoon made the SW388s in collaboration with Desmond which had HQ in Russia. They make forged wheels. Desmond Regamaster (Evo) are a more show-y edition of the SW388 being that the Spoon versions have a specific finish for racing lacking even the slightest ounce or gram of weight that is spent on coating. Newer ones have a fold on the end of the spokes into the wheel's barrel like you pointed out in the video. Desmond Regamaster has been under the production of Monster Sport now and are not currently in production for a while.

    I’m going to sound real old but I had 15” Spoon wheels on my EM1 Civic Si back in 2000. They’re definitely an acquired taste after watching hours of Spoon race cars lapping tracks and setting records. It is a race wheel and they worked great on track. I had a street set I’d swap to when I wasn’t on track. I didn’t like the look enough to justify the cost and eventually sold the wheels.

    Matt, I’m sure you get a lot of hate from all the money you spend on this Car. And while people might say that the same money can be spent on better wheels, I think there is something special in even placing such iconic wheels on the car.
    I’ve never been a Honda fanboy, I’ll be the first to say that I think it’s pretty awesome that your doing this for the community (even though it’s for yourself), Kind of living peoples younger dreams and fantasy’s by will haha.
    The series will go down as a comprehensive database for upgrades all the civic boys for the rest of TH-cam’s future - something that’s never been done before. I think that’s pretty cool in itself.
    You can probably promote the giveaway more in the beginning to maximise profits - I’m sure the loyal subs won’t mind.
    Keep up the killer work Matty. We appreciate the process.

    So I've paused 30 secs in to this vid, straight away I would pick the Regamaster purely by it's centre design around the bolt holes, the Spoon's look like cheap multi-fit wheels (I understand they aren't). Likewise the matt Black is a poor choice of colour on any car that is a 'looker'. Personally I'd opt for a silver wheel, so you can actually see them on the car & appreciate the intricacies of the design. Love the series & the car so far. EBP EM1 has a special place in my heart.

    Matt the gt3 & gt4 are awesome cars. I know a car that will tick all the same boxes for a faction of the gt3, and it makes a great daily driver the Lotus Evora. You can pick up a used one for 40k to 50k or New for around 110,000. In my opinion used is the path to go, for 40 or 50 you can get one with around 15 to 20 thousand miles on the clock. Take a look you want regret it.

    Spoon fits the build so much with the carbon hood

    I am not nearly as picky as Matt clearly. I love both sets of wheels. Btw the green or olive I would say looks great on the electron blue. I like that finish better than the flat black personally.

    What time does swim wheels are made for racing not for sure. Off in storage. They also make ones that are not universal cut like yours.

    I wish Mugen CF-48 were still for sale new. Full black, 15" +38 offset, with aero disks. Old school Honda! 🔰

    Spoon wheels and try the new 205/45/16 595Rs-pro tire. Federal runs a little wider so the 205 fits the ek chassis almost perfect and I love the grip they offer.

    I'm surprised you didnt get the sprint hart CPR wheels. That's another popular jdm wheel. I like the regas and the te37s

    Definitely prefer the spoon. Sure the finish on them could use some tlc given your high standards but i’m sure it’s nothing you can’t resolve. That and switching to the 205 it should fit perfectly to avoid the dreaded hot boy look.

    The thing that always bothered me looking at these Civics even when they’re all shiny show ready and pretty was the flat black door pillars personally I always painted those plastics on all the earlier Honda’s I had when I was younger so the side of car looks like one big piece of glass black and shiny
