The Spoon wheel with the accompanying lugs and calipers is pretty rock solid. Those and the Mugen MF8’s are some of the original Honda bro dream wheels.
The original SW388 & Regamaster were both made by Desmond in Russia. The new versions are both manufactured by Taneisya in Japan but don’t have any relation to each other, other than that. The new SW388 is commissioned by Spoon and the new Desmond Regamaster name was bought by ICB Motorsports and commissioned by them. That’s why the new SW388 and new EvoII have different designs-they just happen to be made in the same place in Japan.
Chris I’m going to ask because I know you know the answer. What’s the differences between the og Evo and the evo 2? I notice the lips and possibly the spokes are different widths.
@@barnfind124 yes the sizes and offsets offered are different. I don’t know all the various differences though. One of the bigger design differences has to do with the “slots” or valleys on the sides of the spokes. Also now, ICB seems to have released an Evo II “tarmac” model which incorporates the flatter lip that some OG’s had. (The OG had both style lips also but I think which lip you got depended on the diameter or model). But other than minor design changes I’d say the biggest difference is that the EVO II should be a lot stronger than the old ones due to modern manufacturing techniques. All the OG are very old these days and they have a tendency to develop a crack on the inside lip of the barrel.
@@ChrisLumNSX yeah all those points make sense and I agree. The og wheels imo are noticeably better looking I think. The new sw388 are definitely different looking from any view compared to the og sw388s. Appreciate the comment back.
@@trackshun Some people just need showing the good stuff. I had a set of slips on my first track car as I liked the style and didn't know any better. Now I race on Rays and have a wheel company.
I’m estimating that on a 205 you may only need to run -3 camber in the front with the 7.5 width. Which is the most I would personally go. You also need to remember that most of the little Honda bro’s are removing the front liners because they don’t care. I say DO NOT remove the liner or you’ll have more gravel in the jambs than what you want. Other option is to remold the liners by heating them up and pressing in on the rub areas.
3-4 degrees negative in the front is actually perfect for a FWD track setup. Will be less likely to roll onto the sidewall/edge and push the front end through a corner. I like the sw388 wheels on the car. But am still partial to the CE28's.... also a set of Bronze or Formula Silver OG tE37s would look amazing.

Spoon made the SW388s in collaboration with Desmond which had HQ in Russia. They make forged wheels. Desmond Regamaster (Evo) are a more show-y edition of the SW388 being that the Spoon versions have a specific finish for racing lacking even the slightest ounce or gram of weight that is spent on coating. Newer ones have a fold on the end of the spokes into the wheel's barrel like you pointed out in the video. Desmond Regamaster has been under the production of Monster Sport now and are not currently in production for a while.
Always loved the shape of 16” Regas over the Spoon wheels. The smoother lip of the Regas look so much better! But I really love the Mugen MF-10’s in 16” bronze over both the others.

No roll and camber -2.2 /-1.8 Mild 35mm drop (from already lower ITR height) and they just fit. Keep in mind RE71R run wide. I think you can fit the Spoon 16x7.5 and 205 and the negative camber won’t be very noticeable. Spoon theme.
What I have on my Civic SI, are 195/50 R15 with same style and finish wheel as the Spoon. Also best way to explain that type of finish on the Spoon wheels, its like a new chalkboard.
Need a 205 or 195 tires on the Spoon wheels. I ran 195/40/16 on BBS RS 16x7.5 wheels (on a VW) and they fit great with very little stretch. Some tires look better stretched than others. Depends on the sidewall profile of the tire and if it has a rim protector or not. If you don't like the finish on the Spoon wheels get them blasted and powdercoated in any color you desire!
It’s unfortunate the finish on the spoons are temperamental, but either wheel looks really nice. I’d personally choose the Spoon of the two to match the brakes. Can’t lose with any of the chosen wheels though aside from fitment. All great wheel choices!
