    Late in 2010, Lexi submitted a request to the LPGA to allow her to compete in 12 tournaments instead of the six allowed to non-members. Her request was denied, but a change in LPGA rules authorized her to participate in more than 12 tournaments the following year. The change of rules helped her write history. At just 16 years old, Thompson did the incredible by becoming the youngest winner on both the LPGA and Ladies European Tours. She beat the LPGA Tour rookie at the time, Tiffany Joe, by a five-stroke margin.

    Whatever the naysayers say about Lexi Thompson, she is pure class. I enjoy watching her play golf. I like how she compliments other players for good play, and her willingness to sign autographs for admiring fans. Kudos to Ms. Thompson both as a person and an excellent golfer.

      I agree, not everyone can be #1 in the world. Lexi was 31st last year and 6th the year before. That is a major achievement in such a competitive sport that has a certain amount of luck getting that little ball in the hole from hundreds of yards away.

      The 4 stole penalty given through information by a viewer and not an LPGA official was uncalled for and ser a bad precedent.
      How about viewers calling missed fouls in basketball games and missed penalties on football games. Want to do away with professional referees and officials?

      Lexi paid a heavy price; but it led to a change in the asinine rules. In 1968, a player cost himself the Masters victory by signing the wrong scorecard. But listening to TV viewers to review isolated rules applications - after the fact - was always ludicrous.

    Every time I play with other amateur golfers, I have to laugh to myself when some pick up their ball on the green after one putt. Meaning they'll always have a maximum 2-putt on their scorecards. Over the course of 18 holes, their scorecards are total BS. I watch I lot of PGA and LPGA events on TV, especially since I had retired. The pros miss very makeable putts. Putting has a tremendous impact on one's scorecard. Lexi's struggles has highlighted that even more.

    It's hardly just Thompson. Before the 2023 season, I looked back at the major tournaments held in the US and Britain, and I think our women had won 10 of the last 41 tournaments. We have the development, we have the skill to be right there at the end of majors. But up until last year, for the last decade, our women in contention late in majors haven't been able to close the deal like we used to.

    Love Lexi, but I’d say there are a few things that have set back her career. 1). She has significantly reduced the number of events she plays compared to when she was at her peak. It takes more than skill to win, it takes being in a competitive environment often. 2). She seems distracted by her many sponsorships and developing her own line of merchandise. 3). I think she’s overtraining in the gym. I get wanting to be in great shape and strong, but gym training can become an addiction that takes time away from honing the skills on the golf course, not to mention increasing the chance of injury and wear and tear on the body. I think Tiger Woods overtrained which has led to many injuries.

    to do what she has done is great, but to make it up another level, you have to / need to TAKE ON A NEW MIND SET. put other thing aside, maybe not do as many commercials not have any social life for the next few years as well, spend more practice time on certain areas of her game and do that for say 2 or 3 years so she gains 1 to maybe 2 strokes better, at that level that is an out of this world improvement.

    In relation to the ANA incident......she brought it all on herself. She cheated. There is no way of sugar coating it. Don't know why she did it but there is NO professional golfer out there (or most honest amateurs) that would replace their ball THAT FAR from where it was originally marked. And as far as her career? Possibly the worst putter on a professional tour (even worse than when Ernie Els had his problems for a while there) and THE ugliest swing in the womens game EVER! Sorry, I'm sure she's got her fans as do all golfers but she's copped flack for good reason. But at the end of the day, so do most professional sports people that don't live up to expectations. That's life in the public eye, get over it or you'll be miserable your whole life and for what? Golf? Nah, it's just a game and it's earnt her a good living. She's got nothing to complain or be upset about. There's very few who end up with the career in professional sports they were after. To have one at all is amazing, especially one where you'll never have to work a real job a day in your life. She's done alright.

    New era golfers don't seem to have to dig their game out of the dirt for years on the practice tee. That made golfers 'hard' a couple of generations ago. Modern golfers need to study the careers of men like Trevino and Hogan, Even Nicklaus 'paid dues' for his years assaulting 'the king', Palmer.
    In short, new era players are soft, not hard and tough.

    What a crock the premise of this entire video was. The notion that Thompson's poor play is somehow tied to external or uncontrollable factors is silly on its face. She doesn't need a new caddie, she needs a new swing coach as her swing is painful to watch and no surprise it breaks down under pressure. And IMHO her basic problem is that she, like too many athletes in recent years, focuses more on her "branding" and PR, more so than fundamentals. And finally, Thompson reminds me of Tom Weiskopf who was regarded as having a $million swing but a $.10 cent head. But at least he had a $million swing. IMHO Thompson has also been handled a lot of career building benefits like positions on the Solheim Cup team, Olympic team and invites to PGA events she didn't fully earn. The game moves on and its time to give the younger more accomplished and competitive players receive the attention they have earned through their play. And IMHO her new endorsement deal with Maxfli was probably not their first choice in terms of players, but rather a player who is most likely getting scratched off a lot of endorsement deal lists. Again, due to her play which is something the best branding and self promotion can't fix.

  • @user-oo2jt5sv8q
    @user-oo2jt5sv8q หลายเดือนก่อน

    Really solid 2024 so far and seems like she is limiting her play as she did in 2023 to avoid an even worse record. But so far she has competed in 6 events. Missed the cut in 4 of them and finished T16 and T3 in the remaining two. It is pretty sad to watch any athlete being comfortable with the such undeserved attention and consideration. Her performance so far places her at the bottom of the pack in terms of results. So as a wise person once said, you are no better than your performance and deserve nothing more than that performance EARNS.
