quick tipp: build a small feeder stockpile right next to the cart. you can assign wheelbarrows to the feeder stockpile so the dwarfs will not drag rocks from far away to the cart and instead first use wheelbarrows to bring the, to the feeder after which they just nee to drag them a short distance
I've tried and for some reason they kicked in the wheelbarow (Even thorugh the options on were only STONE) thorugh the minecart xD This stuck the AI apparenlty and broke the Quantum Storage xD
I still like the dump zone quantum stockpile. Good if you just need a temporary thing like getting some valuable stuff out of a cistern / magma reservoir before you fill it up.
For some reason, the dwarfs won't actually grab anything from the stockpiles:( It does work as an infinite stockpile, but none of my dwarfs see it as a usable stockpile to pick things up from. Stoneworkers will for example go all the way to the mines to grab stones rather than the stockpile right next to them. Am I doing something wrong?
I've noticed that in general my Dwarves make odd desicions on what stones they want to use - I had one fort where they'd travel multiple z-levels for fluxstone rather than grab chalk that was in the same room (this was chalk that was lying on the floor, not even in any stockpile). Try setting the workshop to take from the quantum stockpile specifically.
You can also create a "dump" and then designate stones to be dumped. After being taken to the dump, you can designate the stones to be reclaimed. This is very useful for emptying out places of random rocks and ores very quickly, like magma tubes, or just to clean up areas of your fort.
Any of you having trouble with the renaming stockipiles, dwarves, and haul routes? Sometimes while typing, the main screen moves to some of the keyboard button presses. Even unpauses at times when pressing spacebar.
HOY! I've seen some tutorials on Quantum Stockpiles and some of them, tell that it's needed to set conditions to kick, not remove all conditions. is this a version difference or.... both ways work?
I've heard people say that setting kick conditions can cause issues if you mess up some other part, such as the cart getting kicked off the stop if the friction is wrong. Functionally when set up correctly a kick isn't doing anything and the dump action is still moving the contents, so it's easier to avoid human error by just removing it entirely.
@@theamazingfedex sorry for the delay! It is furniture but it should be able to store multiple - the video shows a stockpile with a bunch of barrels and bins at around 00:19
@@FurtherReadingTV No worries, I ended up figuring it out. However, have you encountered an issue where dwarves get stuck in a loop bringing materials back to the source stockpile after they get dumped out of the minecart?
@@theamazingfedex I've not had that happen personally - maybe set the feeder to give to the quantum so they consider the quantum as the final stop in the item's journey?
It can depend how busy they are. If you check your tasks list (t) you should see a list of all the tasks pending in your fort + what your dwarves are doing. "Store item in vehicle" tasks are tasks to fill up the minecart.
Those worked great for me until I somehow got a bug where my dwarves started to shuffle between the feeder stockpile and the quantum stockpile and back to the feeder, and so on... What can I do to fix this? I didn't change any settings in the quantum stockpile, worked great before
This can happen if the conditions aren't removed as shown at 02:35. You also wanna make sure that your quantum stockpile isn't set to give items to the feeder.
@@FurtherReadingTV happend to me too, i'll see and follow the video again to make sure i done all steps right. but i'm 99,9% sure that i set everything right
I am a beginner player in DF, tell me if it is possible to play this game without using any exploits at all. I think that all this is not fair and unrealistic even in a fantasy game world.
Basically every tile has infinite capacity. A tile is only checked if its full or empty if a dwarf literally puts an item in it as part of a move to stockpile action. Most other ways to move an item to a tile doesn't do that.
I can't get this to work it seems. All it does is puting one sinular stone into the quantom stockpile and then nothing more happens. Anyone got any tips? I follew the video exactly
Nope, this isn't rimworld! The only way to cause a cave-in is through channelling on the floor above. The purpose of supports is to create traps by allowing you to drop loose bits of ceiling on people.
There are some things in DF that will get patched, but there are certain exploits that have been around for so long and are so important to the fandom that they are likely not to be patched (for instance draw bridges).
Yes I made a typo in the thumbnail. No I will never change it.
The steam release bringing a whole new wave of dwarf fortress tutorials is amazing
I'm surprised people were so ready to make them.

Glad to see QSPs are working for steam release. They truly are a blessing.
And thanks for making this quick tutorial vid!
I like that some of your tutorials are short and sweet, easy to retain!
This changes absolutely everything. I have been hollowing out massive areas for stones
I still like the dump zone quantum stockpile. Good if you just need a temporary thing like getting some valuable stuff out of a cistern / magma reservoir before you fill it up.
This is such a game changer! Thank you! Earned a sub for sure - enjoying the bitesized df wisdom
Quick clear and concise, excellent!
Time to fix my organization problems with dwarven dark magics. Thanks!
Thank you so much ive been struggling to get a quantum stockpile to work
It took me a few tries to get it working too!
I'm glad this trick still works in the new version haha
Keep up the good work and you will grow fast here on TH-cam.

I was hoping there would be a 'bug' like this. My stone stockpiles are WAY too big.
You can also create a "dump" and then designate stones to be dumped. After being taken to the dump, you can designate the stones to be reclaimed. This is very useful for emptying out places of random rocks and ores very quickly, like magma tubes, or just to clean up areas of your fort.
This is great, thank you! A question tho, is this one of those things that's gonna get patched? Or is this intended?
It's due to a bug, yeah. It's been active for years in classic, no telling if/when it could be patched.
i've read somewhere that this is the semi intended way now until the dev reworks stockpiles
just what i need. more please!
Any of you having trouble with the renaming stockipiles, dwarves, and haul routes? Sometimes while typing, the main screen moves to some of the keyboard button presses. Even unpauses at times when pressing spacebar.
Yeah that's been doing my head in. There seems to be some issue with the search bar losing focus but I haven't figured out exactly what causes it.
@@FurtherReadingTV Glad I'm not the only one. I've been renaming things after setting up QSPs. Seems to work fine then
Great videos! Liked and subbed.

Will it be able to store different stones or different wood? Or will I have to make one for each type of stone and wood
Yeah it can store different kinds of stone and wood.
@@FurtherReadingTV Alright thanks
Awesome, thanks for this!
If anyone is having trouble getting it to work make sure to have a feeder stock pile. It will not work without one.
This is great! Which filter do you set to get it to put all bins or barrels into a pile?
I believe they count as furniture. I'll double check and get back to you.

Yeah that's totally doable. I tend to mainly do this trick for aesthetic reasons.
Does this mean your stomes are destroyed , how is it infinite on 1 square , im confused
No the stones are still there - you can see on the tooltip. it is infinite because of dwarven ingenuity aka bug exploitation.
Does this still work? I'm having a difficult time getting this to work.
Yup! It can take a bit to get going if your Dwarves are busy but I'm using a few of these in my Fort right now.
...or load up a trade depot in a locked room... BOOM, its now a vault!
I still don't understand what you did to make it have infinite capacity.

It might be that your Dwarves are just busy. For that clip I was waiting a few minutes for them to start messing with it.
how can you limit the stockpile only to that z level?
You can't - the only thing you can limit a stockpile to is to take from specific workshops or specific other stockpiles.
@@FurtherReadingTV thanks for the great video and the answer.
Wow! Is it legal?
No. Police is coming.
I mean, this feels more like an exploit than anything else, lol.
Oh it's 100% an exploit!
Been in the game since day one, never got fixed.
Duuuuuuuuuude!
Its Quantum!

Nope, this isn't rimworld! The only way to cause a cave-in is through channelling on the floor above. The purpose of supports is to create traps by allowing you to drop loose bits of ceiling on people.
when a exploit change into a feature 🤣
Can't play without QSP, it's not about just the space being saved and efficiency, it's also have FPS sparing effect...
This looks like it is gonna be patched soon, unless it was stated somewhere that this is intentional
don't think they've ever touched it in the original dwarf fortress.

toady said this exploit is probably necessary until he gets around to reworking how stockpiles work in general
