Andi is one of the rare examples of a singer who got better imo as time went by!
I just admire how, performing live, he rarely cuts short on sustain, always stretching those words, howling above the arena roof
Wow. I've only ever heard the album version of this song with Michael Kiske. I gotta hand it to Andi Deris, he really killed it. That was outstanding!
Andi Deris is my most favorite singer of all time... Expressive, creative, and versatile
Andi is sooooooo criminaly underated! Such an unique timber, such a great singer.
I think Andi and Kiske give different emotions to the song.
Andi is more aggressive, making the song not only sad but also kinda desperate, with anguish. You described, I'd say accurately, as bewitched.
Michael, having a clearer tone, gives the song a more soothing kind of sadness. If you were resigned.
These is a very personal perspective of their performances.
Andi Deris is also great in 'The Dark Ride'.
I grew up with this album, know every lyric by heart, what an amazing moody album.

I liked the original by Micheal Kiske more. Especially in this slower melodramatic song I think his more clearer voice fits the song better.
Maybe you try the original or at least a version with Kiske too sometimes to see where this song originally comes from.
