The Purple Cat is actually a "Dead Friend" honestly when find it in the lore...
I like that theory too. Some criticize it and say that the dead friend can't be Purple because they talk about Purple in The Reset of ALitS. But I don't agree. First of all, all the other related game text fits to this theory, and second, even in the real world, people don't always talk from first-person.

I found some of the purple cats while trying to find some secrets, mainly the roofless levels
It is obvious that you found them in the roofless levels. There are only three instances of Purple in levels with roofs: W2R3, W5R6, and W6R2.
I actually found purple in the stupidest way possible by falling in world 9 room 10
Me to but only in ten so i was like if right was the correct way what was on the left and i used the water ablity to speed up i saw the purple cat and died so that my story

One weird thing I noticed about ALitS is that those spawners, like the whirlpools that drop enemies and bombs and other bad stuff from time to time, glow purple when spawning an object. 100% a reference to the Purple one.

I haven't seen them. But I do have proof that W3 was made by Purple: in that world, when Lumi asked her friends where they had been and wanted to rejoin, they didn't understand. But when she decided to stay alone a while longer, they did. The friends were clearly under the influence or control of Purple in W3. Purple wanted to keep Lumi separated.

I remember that level where she lost all of her powers and She died in the last level well she didn't really die but yeah she got squashed by the yellow or orange triangles And when you finish that level there's also some extra levels where you get to play as the block

She did die. The Reset pack happens in the afterlife, and there, she is a ghost. Then, she respawns, and goes through the loop again, dies again, respawns again, and so on.

I noticed that you can find Purple four times in world 7. This is more than in any other world. Is there lore behind this, or is it that this is the first world with open rooms so the dev got excited and put a lot of Purple cats in there, but then realized that it was too much and didn't put as many in the other worlds?
This feels like over-analyzing, but since purple's goal is to keep lumi from killing herself, maybe it just wanted to watch over more than usual when Lumi's mental stability started to crumble.

I have a theory: in world 7 it says: please don't do this..., most of the rooms in world 7 have the dead friend(THE PURPLE CAT) and probably watching while having no hope because she has no face, it is said that when the cat has no face, it means its hopeless
It's weird that the names of worlds starting from World 6 seem to be shifted one world backwards. World 7 should be called "Nothing lasts forever" because the cat loses the flight ability, the ability and the happiness don't last forever.
World 8 should be called "Please don't do this", because the cat is extremely angry and disappointed at the loss of the Companion, she also realizes that she is going to lose all of her abilities.
World 9 should be called "It's all gone" because there she loses her last ability, everything is gone.

I never thought about this video would have so much views
I make this video is because I was curious about how many purple cats is in this game, and I found someone on steam have found out lots of purple cats but he have some mistakes and misses somes. This pushes me to find out the answer by myself, and I decided to share the answers I found with everyone on the internet.
Just a little bit of complain:
This video took me only few hours to make, it's a casual making video and somehow get 28k views
Compared to other videos that took me weeks to make, which only get about 300 views or less.
This makes me a little bit sad😢

I found 9-10 by just looking to see if the left side was the one
Most people go to the right because that is where you go in most other rooms
I only found the room 8 level 5 purple before this video
This is actually one of the easiest purple cats to find, it is a wall with no spikes and you climb it on your way to the exit, the only thing stopping you from finding Purple right away is two arrows.
You don´t usually think of a cat as SUS, but this is an exception

FYI some people in steam say that there is a purple cat in world 7 room 7. I've been trying to find it
I analysis the data files of the game and combine with the purple cats I have already found
I can sure these are all of the purple cats
except the one in companion phase 2 room 1, I know there's one, but I can't find it
I can only know which levels have purple cat though the analysis of the data files, I still need to found where the purple cats are in the level by myself.
Although this method only help me find there's purple cats in companion phase 1 room 10, phase 2 room 1, phase 2 room 10, because I had already found all the other. 🤣
And I successfully find phase 1 room 10, phase 2 room 10.
But I just can't find the one in phase 2 room 1, maybe it is in a place where player can't go to?
